I would probably go with the extension. Maybe not pre-Ashley but I am more confident now we could afford it if it did all go wrong.

if we can get owen to sign, we HAVE to offer him a new contract. despite the injuries, he's still the best goal scorer of his generation. they don't grow on trees for a club like ours.

You say that, but we've had Cole, Ferdinand, Shearer and Owen in the last 15 years.  Probably the 4 best English goalscorers there have been in that time

Not many more goals to go, plus when he's fit he's virtually guaranteed to be in the English first team.

 

The question comes down to fitness, but if he stays fit he will definitely break the record.

i personally believe that he will break the record but i have a serious concern about his ability to stay injury free. if he stays un-injured he will no doubt smash the record quite convincingly.
