What would a loss do?
-
Why didnāt we just sign him instead of the keeper if we wanted him? Were Forest finding it that impossible to shift him?
-
Need Miley to come back fighting fit so we can sell him to Brighton next summer. That should fund a replacement keeper.

Saving them for later mate

Ā£25m is a fairly big difference like. Especially in PSR terms.
-
Assume next summer the targets will be: new GK new RCB new RW new ST Or a new manager?
-
Lad's a really good pro, but if he was really that bothered about a move he'd be handing a transfer request in. Like VVD did to join Liverpool. Like Lescott did to join Man City. Like John Stones did to leave Everton. All good pros.

Krafth, Longstaff and Murphy.

I'm not arguing with that (my posts have always been pretty clear on this). I'm just saying that people stating we have Ā£70m to spend as some form of justification is not right. The club were choosing to risk a huge fee (Ā£55m was closer) with the knowledge we'd have to offset it further down the line. Because the club haven't recognised any other players that might be worth that risk they've decided to go with nobody. It's not how I would do it, but I'm not the owner.

Best tell our manager that then, he's saying the opposite right now. There are plenty of people on here who have made extremely good posts explaining why we're hampered financially. The Guehi deal would have been a HUGE risk.
-
Our weird transfer dealings with Forest give us a pretty good indication of it. Weāre pretty much fucked on wages when the new rulings kick in too. Our revenue just isnāt good enough.
-
still not the case. We were willing to cause ourselves future problems next summer because we wanted Guehi so much.

Anyone who went to Saudi for money probably isn't the right fit for us tbf.

Even better if you put Saka on the right wing and Alphonso Davies at left back. We can't though can we -
Got a 2 week break now, so even if he's out for 6 weeks it will only feel like 4.
-
Agreed. Ridiculous fee.
-
Yep, Ā£55m is the figure I've heard for Guehi. Everything else was incentives/add-ons.
-
Even with signing Guehi we'd have to cash in on someone next year. This place is gonna go mental next year when we're trying to sign a new CB, RW AND striker. We don't need expensive transfers, we need improvements on squad players, IMO. We saw last season with the injuries to key players just how poor the options were coming in. We're already seeing that now after 1 game where we've had to rely on Krafth for 3 games. So let's say hypothetically Guehi comes in. He'll start right? So Schar down to the bench? What happens next season? Looks like we probably need a replacement for Schar, right? So we're a year behind where we could be by bringing in a young player to learn from him now. The way we're leaving things right now, we need a new starting RCB next summer and a backup.
