  1. In response to yet another bit of sarcasm from you, may I suggest that your concentration span can't be very well developed if you thought that was a long drawn out *responce*. bluelaugh.gif It only took about 1 minute to write that, mate. BTW There's no doubt you will have read it, but sadly you're like a few other people on here mate. You fail to answer questions when it dawns on you that the only answers that make any sense go against what you've been saying previously. They are easy questions, Jon. Go on. Surprise me. Give them your best shot........ I doubt he will give you an answer, he's hit the bottle again, cue endless silly posts and childish behaviour. Well I've had a foul arse the last couple of days otherwise I'd have hit the bottle anarl. Same old HTT, always hitting something and being violent. Thug. I don't think the Admin' will take kindly to being called a thug, mate. :winking:
  2. This is probably one of those rare times that I'll agreewith HTL and disagree with HTT. I just can't see how the Pirouting is of any merit or benefit to the team. Parker's swirl and turn is sideways unlike Zidane's who uses them to beat a player. In effect, it's just wasting time and as good as passing backwards, which in a way can also be seen as "keeping possession", yet hated unanimously by all fans alike. Parker slows down our attack and I don't buy the argument that he does the pirouting when there are no options. With fast players like Martins and Dyer and intelligent players like Solano around, there are always options available, it's just that Parker doesn't see these options. I do agree with HTT though that Parker is better than Butt as a DM, the problem is Roeder does not want to play him in that role which makes that comparison moot. If I had to sell one between Parker and Emre, and assuming we get the same amount of offers for both, I'd sell Parker first. Its not difficult to find an aggressive defebsive midfielder, most midtable teams have them, but only the top teams have a playmaker who can dribble in the final third, we have that in Emre. But knowing Newcastle, Parker's English and plays in typical British style, so its Emre who will go first. It is a primary part of the role of the DM to distribute the ball well, to set the tempo of the play. The fact that Parker does not have the ability to do this is one of the reasons he is not as good a DM as Butt imo. By Roeder simply putting him in this role and telling him to do it does not mean he will have the ability to do it. With players in the team with pace, such as Dyer, Owen and Martins, not forgetting Zog when he gets back to fitness and form, this failing will be highlighted even more. Not sure why you don't agree with more of what I post. I often agree with HTT once I've reached the important 10 or words from the 1000's he writes. Perhaps you aren't reading the posts properly? :winking:

    Shevtenko

O'Neill was probably pissed during most of the World Cup, a theory which is supported if he made such a ridiculous statement. Shevtenko (or whatever) is a top class player. He definitely said it about Ibrahimovic though mate. To be fair to the media darliing, Ibrahimovic did have a shite world cup.

Give them your best shot........ i didn't read it as i figured I have probably read it before 1000 times. My responce was very tongue in cheek, I would have thought you would have figured that out considering it was word for word something you wrote apart from one change! I've written it once, so it's doubtful you've read it 1000 times. You could also link to the post where I said the same thing apart from this one change you mention, if you like. BTW Your response wasn't tongue in cheek, you just have no interest at all in debating football. I seriously believe that all you (and some othes) want to do is make a statement and have everyone accept it as gospel. Is that it? You can't stand it when someone challenges your view. I'll happily answer any challenge made to a statement I make, mate. It's a forum full of different opinion. If I make a statement I EXPECT to be challenged for it and can cope with that. Some can't, unfortunately. We don't have to agree mate, but I didn't previously have you down as one of that small group. Cheers again
  6. erm, didn't GR mention publicly that he wanted to sign Gile Barnes and Gareth Bale? Talk about hypocrocy http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/23122006/1/roeder-fan-bale-barnes.html Not really. According to some, the comments about Barnes and Bale are actually the club seriously negotiating to sign those players. The conversation was about who we might sign, you said you didn't have a clue as the club where keeping everything a secret and I pointed out Roeder had admitted having an interest in Bale and Barnes so maybe we werent being THAT secret, I didnt say we were in negotiations or anything of the sort. But as usual twist everything to suit your argument when you clearly didnt understand something and had to have it explained again and again until it sunk in (which apparently it still might not have bluebigeek.gif ) As usual? I understand very well what you're posting. It's not difficult to follow the simplistic nature of your comment. Cheers
  7. Aye, I do have a point. Arsenal appointed a shit manager in Bruce Rioch from a position of strength. Before that they went from a double winning team to not winning the league again for 18 years, appointing 3 managers in the process who all failed in the League. They won the FA Cup once in that time, but this is a club that wants to win the League more than the FA Cup. They've done better than us yes, but it shows it's not easy or automatic to get it right. 18 years! For them that was a time of failure in the league. Eventually they got it right, then they got it wrong again, then they got it right again. If it's so easy why don't they get it right every time? Liverpool also appointed a shit manager in Evans and then made it worse by appointing 2 managers before getting it right with Hoolia on his own. Fred is slated now for sacking Robson. Imagine if he'd sacked Robson having won 5 trophies as Hoolia did? Doesn't bear thinking about, how fickle some people are. So what's the problem? The point I'm making is it's not easy to get it right and you can't get it right all of the time. How many times did manure get it wrong before they appointed Ferguson?
  8. I agree that Owen and Martins could work well. I'd prefer 4-4-2 though, rather than Dyer in what appears to be a floating role there. Which midfield players would you see (and formation) behind those 3 as you've shown above? I won't bang on about it too much if you suggest Parker, :winking: but just in case I'll have to say immediately that his slow passing ability would be really exposed by those 3 pacey players ahead of him. They'd be offside 9 times out of 10 as Parker begins his second twirl.

  12. I was at that match I laughed tbh Next time you cross a road let me know so I can push you in front of a bus, laugh then piss on you. Cheers I'll tell you just after I've stabbed you the heart and fucked your girlfriend you f***ing pansy Hmm, that's my theory dashed, then.
  13. Aye, but in the second half of the season what happens if Martins and Sibierski are injured for a lengthy period? We would clearly be in trouble. However, I don't think we're at the stage where we can afford to spend upwards of £8m on someone who would be third choice striker when everyone is fit, as much as I'd like us to. (Obviously this is making assumptions about how much we will have available to spend, but I think they're reasonable enough). Given the other areas of the squad that also need reinforcing (LB, CB) I think we would be better off looking for a cheaper option a la Beattie/Viduka who will be able to do a good job for us, and will not be looking for first team football the way Crouch is. If Crouch is unhappy with being on the bench at the moment how will he feel when Owen and Oba are fit? I agree, but that's assuming the club has a choice. This is the balancing act and why it's not easy to conduct transfers and get the players a club wants. The way people go on ( not you ) anyone would think it was simple. The club may want to go for a cheaper option but what if that cheaper option has other opportunities, or his agent wants him to hang on right to the last day? Then what? You're right, we could well end up in trouble if we don't sign a striker - one injury to Martins and we're struggling. As admirably as he's performed for us I can't see the Sib doing too well week in week out up top on his own. In my opinion I'd rather we went for cheaper options from day one, and run the risk of getting Crouch for £10m on the last day of the window, when all other possibilities have been exhausted. It won't be that easy to bring in a decent striker, but I'd rather the most expensive option was our lowest priority at the moment, hopefully giving us a chance to bring in a few more bodies. Having said that, if there are no defenders to be had, we may as well spend the extra (e.g.) £4m we would have on them on a striker. We'd be better off signing just Crouch than just Beattie. Pretty much the way I'm thinking of it as well, in terms of trying the cheaper options first, but it's a gamble and it's obvious how fickle some people are just by reading the posts on this forum.

    Emre

You see, this is where I differ from the Parker fans. It's these " if's and but's " type of thing as people look for excuses for his shite performances and how unbalanced the team becomes with him in it. I don't assume he'll do a job in the anchor role just because Roeder may tell him to do it. He doesn't have the ability and it does take a certain and special ability to play that role properly.

    Emre

Not at all. I said in our current injury situation (ie with Solano unavailable) I would try Parker at right back and leave Butt-Emre in central midfield. I think we can all agree that, when fit, Solano is a must at right back because he has been in fantastic form lately. But the situation being as it is, putting Parker there seems more sensible than Edgar IMO. I think Parker actually has all the qualities to do a good job at right back, certainly a much better job than an inexperienced academy centre-back. Fair enough, although when I mentioned "all" I was hoping some of the Parker fans might chip in, although most of them still seem to think he should be in the centre of midfield and it doesn't really matter who else is in there with him.

  18. Agreed, £12m is a ridiculous price, so let's hope the MANAGER doesn't ask the club to sign him if this is the known price. FAT FRED, being the total bastard that he is, might just decide to do his job and back the judgement of his manager. Some people are already winding up for a Board defence no matter what happens, which doesn't surprise me in the least. bluelaugh.gif The Board doesn't need any defence, after saying that though I've never defended the Board in my life, I just point out what they've done, that's all. It's not my problem that you're unable to understand reality. Their actions of consistently backing the manager to build his own team is there for all to see, and that is their job. Here are some QUESTIONS for you, just so your position on the function of the Board is clear before January 1st arrives. Do you believe the Board should get the blame when the manager makes poor footballing decisions? You know, because they appointed him, like. If Roeder knows Crouch is going for £12m and asked the club to try to buy him, do you or do you not believe the Board should attempt to make that signing? If the Board said "no, we're not paying £12m for him", what would you say? If the club put in a "derisory" offer of say £7m in an attempt to get the price down, what would you say? If they had an offer of £12m accepted and Crouch signs, what would you say? Moving on..... Do you believe it is easy to appoint the right manager? If you do, please explain to me how the same Arsenal Board consistently got it wrong before finally getting it right by appointing Wenger? If you do, please also explain to me how the same Liverpool Board that appointed Benitez got it so badly wrong earlier that they appointed 2 managers at the same time? Do you think the manager has responsibility for team affairs or don't you?
  19. Yes. If you go through the list of players bought by all the managers going back even to Keegan you will find a lot of wasted money. Souness was especially wasteful as the majority of us realise but even Robson wasted millions before signing Bellamy and Robert, unfortunately going on to waste yet more millions after those signings.
  20. £12m? Jesus wept, what utter bollocks. We got £9m for Jeeenarse......Who would have believed that was possible, at least once it became clear he was leaving, like. :winking:
  21. Think rosstoon's brain went MIA on this one. Only insofar as he thought the childish insult was aimed at Roeder. :winking:
  22. According to some, that bit in bold means the club is in active and public negotiations to sign the player.
  23. Quite probably correct what you're saying there, January is a difficult time to buy players because clubs don't generally want to sell, prices will go up in many cases so if people want the club to buy in January they should expect ( and accept ) this kind of thing. A couple of people have already said they'd be happy if the club was to pay over the odds to bring in the right players, to get them sooner rather than later. Well I wouldn't normally want the club to pay over the odds for players, but we still desperately need at least one striker (2 really) so if the MANAGER ASKS THE BOARD to try to bring in a player valued by the seller at ~£12m, and the Board is able and prepared TO BACK THE MANAGER's judgement to that extent, then so be it. Injuries to Martins and Sibierski anytime soon and we're in the relegation mire again. Relegation would ruin the club and is obviously worse than paying an extra couple of million for a player like Crouch, who is a decent player really, although I'd rather we looked elsewhere. Some people are already winding up for a Board slagfest no matter what happens, which doesn't surprise me in the least. We make no signings and the Board is slagged. We sign players certain people don't want and the Board is slagged. Even if people do want new signings the Board is slagged for agreeing to pay a fee that is too high. It should be an interesting month as this irrational hatred begins to unfold once again........
  24. Agreed, £12m is a ridiculous price, so let's hope the MANAGER doesn't ask the club to sign him if this is the known price. FAT FRED, being the total bastard that he is, might just decide to do his job and back the judgement of his manager.
