I'd win. I'm from Scotchy. aye, you'd run him over in his own car.
  7. well if you lived anywhere near newcastle you'd know. for years the club had a tradirtion of making the weeks worst trainer wear the yellow top as you can see.(im sure it's spelt wrong, should be 2 "t"s That would make it make it 'shitter' as in sh-it-er. But it's meant to be shiter as in sh-aye-ter but nobody says "i've had a shiter (sh-aye-ter)" do they ?
  8. well if you lived anywhere near newcastle you'd know. Every single conversation we have from now on is going to have to be about that, isn't it? aye......but you know how it's meant.
  9. Eh? Well, before money came into play, it's all the fans who were the lifeblood of the club, the merchandise etc. If it was ONLY people in Newcastle who supported the side, I very much doubt we'd get 52,000, I very much doubt we'd be at the level we are now. All clubs need fans, obviously. Fans put a lot of money into the club. Money is what keeps the club going. If it was only Geordies supporting us and going to the games, there wouldnt be half as many fans as there is now, and all that sort of thing. A club without fans, and lots of them is nothing. but shouldn't that count for all clubs, only mancs to citeh or united, only scosers to pool or toffees. on that scale i reckon we'd be quite near the top of the prem.

  11. I think you're overreacting myself, although it's an interesting debate and if you feel that strongly about it all, rant away as that's what the forum is here for. Myself, I wouldn't be bothered about it all, no foreign fan of NUFC has to justify their support. It's not a matter of us trying to justify our support (like I've just said, that's silly. Why should anyone have to do that?) It's a matter of us trying to convince those who would think less of us to think differently. Granted, that's probably a lot cause, but as you've said, ranting is what this forum is for. But who thinks less of you? In my eyes, I'm astounded we have so many foreign fans and even more so at the lengths a good number of you go to to follow Newcastle, often putting local fans to shame. For me we have fantastic foreign fans who support the club for all the right reasons. It's all about the club and not what we've won, what we have a chance of winning or the kind of football we play. That means you follow the club for the same reasons as I do outside of being born here which you can't help (where you're born). Now I am of the same opinion as NM that people should support their local clubs, but that doesn't mean I think anyone is less of a fan. Same as I don't think if you're not a Geordie, you are less of a fan. That's just complete s**** and I don't even think that's the argument NM is getting at. You have to remember, it's a mentality bread into people here in the UK, especially in places like Newcastle, that you look out for your own and you support your own and to do otherwise is akin to being a traitor or a sell-out. My mother for example classes the club as "we" or "us" yet she isn't a supporter like you or I am. I know Geordies who don't like football but who have relations who 'support' Man Utd for example and think "how can you support them, you should support the Toon, they are wor team". By "wor" that means they are Newcastle's team, the City's which should come first in any aspect, whether it be football or living in a different City or country. "Why would you wanna live there, what's wrang with Newcastle, wor home Toon". Perhaps if people came to understand this mentality then they may see where the likes of NM are coming from and not get so defensive. We are an island remember and an island race and this type of mentality is in our genes almost. More so in remote areas like Newcastle who at one point or another, may as well have been a different country to the rest of the nation. Indeed many people today rightly or wrongly consider themselves as Geordies first and Englishmen second. Some don't even think of themselves as Englishmen and couldn't care less. This isn't even a football thing for many people and pre-dates the game. it's posts like that ,that start wars of independence.

Didnt mean it in an offensive way and i was one of the ones who adamantly defended the Keegan appointment on the spurs board (i also praised the appointment on here too). I agree that the spurs team is a bit of a soft touch and have said that too but get over yourself ffs. Keegan seems a nice guy and not really a diciplinarian so that where i base my judgement on, now go grab a tissue and let the tears flow he is when needed (i remember him being tough with lee clarke, andy cole and barry venison) but he has a way with people that means he doesn't often need it. Don't forget when he pulled Beresford off after about twenty minutes for talking back to him. clean forgot about that till you brought it up.i still remember the look of shock on beresfords face. (cue a few jokes about pulling beresford off ) I want to say it was against Villa, is that right? honestly can not remember who it was against

  18. Yes true enough - it doesn't reflect a possible upward valuation. You'd only get that coming through in your results if you did sell the player. But the practice does reflect the actual cash cost of the player. You can't write players values up. Taylor and Zoggy's values in our books are nothing and next to nothing respectively for example. You can buy a player for £10 million and he turns out to be a crock of shyte. At the end of 1 year he's shown as being worth £7.5 million yet in reality his value to the club is nowt much. You can do an impairment write down on him if you want and write his value down quicker than the normal process. isn't there another way to work out the amortisation aswell instead of just dividing it equally between the years of the contracts duration.

  20. isn't that purely a paper exercise though. for example you buy a player for £10mill. after year 1 his value would show up as £7.5mill even though he is now european player of the year and you have rejected a bid of £100 mill. it doesn't take into account the real value.
  21. faye and n'zogbia would be my choice Unfortunately I don't think Butt is going to be left out, and Zoggy for me has looked a bit dopey at CM. Faye may also be more important for us at CB. Taylor and Cacapa just won't get it done against Rooney and Tevez. i would play faye in midfield as his height isn't really needed at the back agaist rooney and tevez but a performance like he did in midfield V chelsea could be very valuable tomorrow. it was the best defensive midfiled performance by any nufc player this season.
  22. who's been having a go at the inernational supporters ? even NM says it's "understandable" for the foreign fans.
