It's always possible that he'll regain form, but not unless he's played instead of more deserving players. I'd prefer to get rid of him.

"Alan Smith just didn't seem bothered, the best example there of someone who's leaving this football club"
And people say we never win anything.
-
Duff through on goal, slips without getting ball under control. And he's still a top player?
Not a top player, but he's still a better footballer than our other midfielders.
Any chance that Stoke will be tempted to take Smith off our hands as a freebie? <_<
Are you crazy? Duff still hasn't had a decent game for us. Butt, Barton, Milner and N'Zogbia are all better players than he is.
-
Squad player at most, hasn't got any stand out attributes, he's average in every department I'd say.
Except his engine, work rate, mentality and the fact that he's hardly ever had a really poor game.
-
Michael Owen. He played a huge part in turning us around, by taking a new role in the team.
-
Bramble and Boumsong really weren't as bad as people make out.
I agree with this. Boumsong started well (and was always good against Henry), and Bramble had quite a few very good games. You can't say that for Pattison or Ramage.

The motto means 'Triumphing by Brave Defence' and comes from the Civil War.
Didn't realise Allardyce was that old.
It's from before Allardyce's time here. It's from back when we had the likes of Andy O'Brien and Dabizas.

That's why it says brave defence and omits any reference to talent.

I can't believe 63 people think there has ever been a manager worse for us than Greame Souness.
-
This game has shown that we must bring in younger replacements for Viduka, Butt and Geremi.
Butt and Geremi were good. Butt's movement on the break was top notch, and he was defensively sound as well. Geremi's set pieces were poor, but all high balls were poor, from everyone, if you didn't notice. It looked fairly windy. Not that I would mind younger versions of the same class.

Don't forget that Keegan was very handsome (and still is, tbf), and could sing as well, making him worth at least twice as much as his footballing skills alone, but he would probably go for £35M since he's such a nice guy.
-
Very solid performace. Thought Butt was man of the match myself, but the team played very well overall.
-
Given, when he's recovered completely. Harper should play the rest of the season.

The Messiah. Sorry for shitty halo.
-
Stephen Carr, on the basis that his contract is running out, and giving him a new one would be worse than not finding anyone interested in taking Smith off our hands. The same goes for Ramage, but his wages are probably less than half of Carr's, and he's further behind in the pecking order as well.

We really are crap.

'Owen may have a virus'.
Let's hope it's nothing trivial.
E. coli hopefully.
That's a bacterium.
(Oh well, I'm going to hell anyway:) Hopefully we've got a good life insurance for him, and Dennis Wise just decided to cash in.

Great.

I'm a bit surprised Ameobi doesn't have more votes than Smith. I voted for neither, of course, but Smith is the kind of player that makes one miss Ameobi.

Duff is a better footballer than Milner. Not even up for debate I'm afraid.
Duff offers nothing, Milner does make a difference at times.
You must be watching other games on other planet i am afraid
So when was the last time Duff created something? While being a "better footballer", he certainly hasn't shown any signs of it when playing for us.
-
Griffin, Bernard, Bramble, O'Brien. Why would that back line be infinitely better than the one we've got today?
-
He could drop Butt, Duff and Smith, though.
-
Fuck's sake.
He's started 14 league games and scored no goals with his feet man. He's missed God only knows how many sitters this season.
He hasn't missed all that many, though. Our main problem has been that we've hardly created any chances for him to put away. And how many times has he been wrongly ruled offside, like when he scored against ManU at Old Trafford? What about his first disallowed goal against the Smoggies? Both times with his feet (or legs), and although they didn't count, they were perfectly valid goals. He's not finished, although he hardly deserves his wages (but then none of them do atm).
-
Surprised at the heavy voting for Harper over Given. I voted for Harper though.
Given is injured, isn't he? So Harper is a given, really. Pun intended or not.

I had no idea who you meant by Craterface until I read "But I hear that ...". He really does have a peculiar writing style.
Milner on his way?

Bollocks. It just means that the "sources" they claim are among the other journalists.
