  1. I was for the appointment of Big Sam for all the obvious reasons stated before. Bolton, small club, tight budget but still managed to bring them up to the top half.

But as someone said in another thread, he is one defeat (Stoke) away from being sacked.

I want a manager with ideas rather than a manager with a tactic already in use. So to speak.

Klinsmann. Laudrup. Or what about Fransisco Flores from Espanyol? He have them in third place of the Primera Division atm. Ahead of teams like, Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and Valencia.

Someone who is not afraid of attacking style football and not just satisfied with containing the opposition.

(Sorry if my english isnt up to standard. Its been a while since school here in sweden)

  2. I think that if Allardyce doesnt get the team going before christmas, then he's out. Ashley wont just sit around watching his team fall into a relegation battle, he knows that to much is at stake for that. His money, his choice, but we can all be pretty sure he already has a backup plan in mind. Be it Shearer as a caretaker manager until the summer, who knows. Time will tell. But im not supporting Allardyce, im supporting Newcastle United, and right now Allardyce is manager so im supporting him. Its not about the players or the manager, its about the club and the crest.

  3. Let say he does sign as expected, and we do want to sign Davies in the summer. Then we will be well stuffed in the centre back position with Taylor Gooch Ramage Huntington Moore Bramble Edgar? Anyone else? Moore we already know is most certain to leave, but who else? Taylor and Gooch for me will be starting. Bramble close behind, Ramage to go?

  4. We have two Swedish site that write about Newcastle in Swedish.

    Cheers from Stockholm!

Yes we do, if you are thinking of svenskafans and magpies.nu we do, unfortunately magpies.nu is closed due to problems with the website and such. But the forum works fine, though.

Read somewhere in this thread that AIK is supposed to be the most followed team in sweden and to have the most loyal fans, that is just not true. Malmö FF, is the correct answer.  blueyes.gif :winking:  (Jari Litmanen and Jonatan Johansson is currently playing for Malmö FF, maybe we have a couple of finnish fans aswell? bluecool.gif)

  5. Dont know if posted before but ;

Tottenham have recruited another Ram, after having mixed success in the past with Championship recruits.

Gregor Rasiak didn't succeed at Spurs, while Tom Huddlestone has impressed many with his 'Hoddlesque' displays.

Spurs will hope they've unearthed another Huddlestone and will expect to get full value for money from the £2.5million they've splashed out for the 18-year-old.

  6. Cracking little site for those USA fans we (do we have many?) have either American born, or exiled.

Some of the funniest headlines from them over there in recent weeks (Shola knifed in Colorado being my fav) and headlining in newsnow (i know it doesn't take much) these days.

Nicely put together, informative and i hope our American buddies appreciate the work.

Has a link to here as well.

I hope we have sites like this across the world in different languages.

There's a swedish one aswell, dont know if im allowed to post the link, but it sure does excist though. Currently under preparation due to some technical problems earlier.  :)

  7. Wot about this -

    Parker....Butt.....Emre

    .....Dyer...Duff

    ........Martins

    I'd like that.

Maybe Dyer and Duff could play a bit more on the wing tthough.

                                    ---Parker--Butt

                                          --Emre---

                    Dyer------------------------------------Duff

                                  -------Martins--------

  8. Freddy Shepherd has vowed the fans calling for his head will not deter him from his mission as Newcastle United chairman...

To step down only when the Magpies finally win a major trophy.

With United languishing in the league, supporters have vented their fury on the man at the top at St James's Park.

And with the Jersey-based Belgravia Group linked with a takeover bid for the club, many question why Shepherd would want to stand his corner for much longer.

But the man himself insists his motivation for staying put is the desire to deliver on an ageing promise to bring silverware to Tyneside.

He remains confident that Glenn Roeder - the manager he is backing to the hilt - can yet fulfil that dream this season.

And he has fired a broadside at the Belgravia Group and others who have made noises about buying United without putting an offer on the table.

"I took over as chairman with a mission to win a trophy - and I'm not going to be knocked off that," Shepherd told the Sunday Sun. "It's more than 50 years since we won a major domestic trophy and 37 years since we won our only European honour, and if I can end that dreadful run then that will be the time for me to walk away.

"And we are still involved in three cup competitions, so I would like to think that we could win something this season.

Shepherd admitted: "It has proved a more difficult, elusive task to win a trophy than I thought it would be when I first joined the board 14 years ago.

"But you have to remember that when I joined the board, nothing had been won for 23 years and nothing had been done to the ground or the training facilities.

"I've invested a lot of my time working for the club over the last nine years, and I am satisfied with what I have achieved off the pitch. If nothing else I have helped create one of the finest stadiums in Europe and a top-class training ground. That is my legacy."

And on the pitch, Shepherd claims he retains all faith in Roeder to steer Newcastle out of relegation trouble - and will prove it by financing a January swoop for a top new striker and defender.

"We have got to give Glenn time to turn it around, of course we have, and I think he can," he said.

"I am not giving him a timeframe to do so, because I see the quality in Glenn to turn the situation around.

"The players admit that they didn't play well against Sheffield United last week, but generally the performances haven't been bad.

"We have good players here. Look at our team sheet. Christ, these are good players, and they have to sort it out.

"But I would rather the fans have a go at me rather than the team or the manager." Shepherd added: "Stock Exchange rules mean we cannot say exactly what we are going to do in the January transfer window - but look at our past record.

"And I know a forward and a defender are a priority."

Meanwhile, while Shepherd admits that he and United's Plc board have a duty to all shareholders to listen to any reasonable offer that is made for the club, he is not holding his breath.

"Anyone can make an offer for the company," he said. "As chairman I then have to do what is best for the Plc and for the shareholders.

"But while there are lots of good talkers and people saying they are going to do this, that and the other, I don't see anyone coming here and saying: `Right, we'll buy the club and do this and that'.

"So I am going to see this job through, and I believe I will turn this situation around.

    "My bags aren't packed."

So this is why we're not winning any trophies! FS doesnt want to leave.. So he deliberatly pick managers who are tactically lost and in some cases just plain stupid (Souness.) ?

  9. Bridge first, get a somewhat proven but not way to expensive player in. Then try signing a moore ish kind of defender (Ayala?) to get the younger ones i.e Taylor and Ramage to grow in to position. Maybe Ayala and perhaps Mexes (wishful thinking) but someone in that category. Young, still have time to develop and with potential. Lots of defenders on the bench in italy. Someone "forgotten" if yoy know what I mean.

  10. If it means selling Parker & Emre then so be it, but we need a major overhaul asap.

It should of been done in the summer, but fat **** didn't want to commit to GR, but he had to, just to clean up the mess Souness made.

    I think we need.

    Bridge

    Distin

    Neill or Young

Replacements for Parker or Emre if sold.

2 strikers, one loan from abroad (not getting games in a big team) & a proven older head in the EPL.

But if we do sell Parker and Emre. our current centre-midfield partnership, and get two new in, wouldnt that be a major risk considering they need a certain time to understand eachother to play well? But I do agree about the other. Centreback, and atleast one fullback, left or right doesnt matter considering the current ones are piss poor anyway. Strikers is a must aswell thanks to Ameobis hip operation and Luques inability to get a game even though we have no strikers available except Sibierski (rossi to man utd in jan) . Davies? DAvies and Sibi upfront ?  Martins better come back soon then.

Point is, we shouldn't have to, especially since FS announced money is available in the next window.

But if it meant selling one of them, or both to get a new defense in, am for it.

Emre @ £8m...fuking hell, that sale would cover Bridge, Distin & a RB.

Well I do agree, as long as we get a midfield partership that actually works. Because a solid back for doesnt help unless we have a midfield fighting aswell. Emre and Parker just doesnt work. Not for me it doesnt. Parker is a great player, but he isnt the defensive midfielder we need. And Butt is still a Man Utd player in his heart. Emre just doesnt perform on a regular basis. Emre at £8m? Bite their hands off. Bridge, Distin and RB will be covered. FS says we have money to spend, plus the possible money from a Luque sale, say about 3-4m, give or take, says we have about what, £10m tops? What striker(s) could we get?

The partnership doesn't work, and that's why id sacrifice it for a class defense.

Still think a Cassano / Luque swap should be tried, even a loan swap Batista/Reyes style would benefit both clubs.

If Cassano settled, and liked it here, we'd have a worldclass player on our hands, but previous shows that probably wont be the case.

    Agree. Ronaldo?

  13. Get 2 new  wing backs and one centreback

    L.Neill

    R.Kovac

    E.Edman

Edman is way to soft for the premiership as earlier proven when playing for Spurs.

Neill is prob. on way to Liverpool and Kovac.. Well Kovac could be an option.
