Yeah, you can prove anything with facts can't you Stats account for very little. But when someone says "we create very little" and the facts show we create more chances than 13 other teams then the stats show that person is wrong. OPTA - Clear-Cut Chances Created 1. Man Utd (83) 2. Man City (81)* 3. Liverpool (75) 4. Everton (70) 5. Arsenal (65)* 6. Chelsea (56) 7. Swansea (53) 8. Tottenham (49) 9. Norwich (46) 10. Newcastle (45) 11. Southampton (44) = West Brom (44) 13. Aston Villa (43) 14. Wigan (42)* 15. Fulham (37) 16. West Ham (33) 17. QPR (32) 18. Reading (31)* 19. Stoke (30) 20. Sunderland (27) *Played 1 game less. No agenda here, just wanted to give the actual numbers of "chances created" as opposed to looking at shots taken. OPTA defines "clear-cut chances" as being "a situation where a player should reasonably be expected to score usually in a one-on-one scenario or from very close range." This is opposed to just "chances" which they describe as "assists plus key passes" or "the final pass or pass-cum-shot leading to the recipient of the ball scoring a goal" plus "the final pass or pass-cum-shot leading to the recipient of the ball having an attempt at goal without scoring".

It's a boys club innit? Nature of the beast. Aye. Too worried about upsetting their paymasters, particularly on BBC Newcastle with their commentary deal. Back in the day, for all we laugh at them being so outdated, the 3 Legends bucked that trend in a big way. Eric Gates was banned from the mackems for years for calling Berb Murray worse than shite. To be fair it does appear that Super Mac has gone somewhat rogue this year It's a tough gig though, journalism, far too sycophantic unfortunately. The ones I've known who worked in clubs were treated with absolute disdain by the players/staff.

Aye, it's our fault. Are you braindead? Pardew is to blame for our season, fullstop. Has nothing to do with what I said. You're saying we're reading too much into it He actually said those words, we didn't. He's been talking shit all season but only since Sunderland has it become an issue. He's a shit manager, that's the important thing, not the shite he spouts. Most managers do that. It's an issue but it isn't. If you think it's only since Sunderland then you can't possibly have been paying attention. I'm saying its become an issue amongst you since the derby. I love the amount of anti pardew fans since the derby pretending to have hated him all along. Bullshit. He's talked shit since day one, I ask again, where have you been? Well i've been going for ages, got told off about it too. You're starting to go on about this now too. You massive blouse. I knew you'd notice I read the forum, how could I not notice?

You're actually saying I've just started hating Pardew since the derby? Fucking hell. You're so fickle Jack, you were up Pardew's arse until that Sunderland loss. bimpy was the same.

  10. I like how when we do I'm more worried about the opposition scoring as a result of the keeper being miles out of the goal than I am confident we'll score from it. Exactly the same In a way, it's an incredibly brave tactic from Pards and he should be applauded for being so cavalier. This approach is far too gung ho though, rather we were a bit more conservative and negative in our football. The excitement of watching Williamson leap like a salmon trying to reach the lofted ball from our keeper is a wonderful sight I prefer the camera shots as him and his hair flop back towards the defensive line, especially the ones when he's bemoaning the fact that he just didn't quite make it. Again.

  12. I voted "Yes", but one reason I would like him to stay is that I greatly enjoy the tactic of having our goalkeeper take any free-kick in our own half. It just screams "liquid football".
  13. You'd imagine so. Not sure. They'll concentrate on the relegation games + Man Utd. Unless Wigan win at Arsenal on Tuesday there are no relegation games, it'll be all about the 4th place.

    The thread title
  15. That rating is completely out of context as he had no service again. Really want to see the non-goal again. Gut says it looked level; the decision can't have been given with any conviction. Considering the way the ball came in, he did so well to generate power and direction on it - he took it really well. If it was a bad decision, that's 4 wrongfully disallowed goals this season off the top of my head. Bad decision or not though someone still needs to teach him the offside rule. There's room for improvement, for sure. But he plays on the shoulder of the last defender - there's huge margin for error, I'm never going to be overly critical when it happens. Two against Metalist and (potentially) one today - all fine. It's desperately unlucky on his part. However, like I say, need to see today's again. He might have been centimetres off. Thought he was off today like, saw it a good few times on the TV.

  17. How would people seriously not take Martinez? The bloke has something special going for him.
  18. Fair play, loved that. City abject as per.
  19. Now there's a thought. Never hear him mentioned for jobs much these days.
  20. Had a free bet with PP, stuck it on City -2. Trying to make the final somewhat interesting.
  21. Wigan's route to the final: Bournemouth, Macclesfield, Huddersfield, Everton and Millwall We could beat 3 of those. Probably.
