  1. He will have no joy here if we are intent on filling our midfield with graft.  The lad needs service, which means we need wingers.  I am sure he would be a great player for us (and grab goals) if we decide to bring in some wingers who can cross a ball for him.

Disagree, just need someone to dictate and control play from behind the forwards... Buy Cabella and convert him to a player a bit more like Valbuena (or hell play Marveaux there right?) and we can get away with packing the midfield with graft. That said if we were to do that a left footed fullback must be played.....

The key to this is that you get a winger and convert him to a 10 so he can drift and create space as there would not be much width etc.

    us signing anyone... :-)

  2. He played well I thought and I didn't think he should have been the one to come off for De Jong.

played Right Wing for most of the game yet when De Jong comes on he plays up front, why didn't he play Cisse up front??

And he was unlucky with that miss as the ball bobbled just as he as about to shoot.

    :spit:

Maybe he should try his hand at golf?

American Football Field Goal stuff :-)

  3. Why the heck does he always have to mention that it is going to be hard to hold onto Remy? We already know, Alan

Managing fans expectations by dropping little hints here and there, well in advance of Remy not coming to us.

I see, but it's not like we have any expectations left with our current setup, isn't it? Or is it just me on a monday morning? :-/

  4. No transfer activity whatsoever isn't moderation in any sense man, I'd be surprised if you were keeping a straight face.

The best way I've summed up my position so far maybe, has been to post those lineups from September of the last 3 seasons in the AP thread. In each case, our squad has been discernibly stronger, i.e; we have, in some way or another, improved our personnel each year, whether the improvements have come in January or whatever. If by this September that hasn't happened again, and the 'how strong is our squad?' graph has levelled off or gone downhill, then I'll want to know why. I'm not interested in what we have or haven't done in the last X windows- are the players on the pitch at the start of each season better than they were at the start of the season before? The answer in the last few years has been 'yes'.

I fully expect some action over the summer. If it doesn't happen I'll be as p*ssed off as you. Well, nearly. You seem to get very p*ssed off.

Let's not speculate about what might or might not happen in the Summer. Look at the here and now - it's s**** and you know it.

Also, your argument is absolutely invalid as the clubs in and around us have improved considerably in the same time frame whilst we lag behind. Finally, it's been a natural improvement due to the fact we were only promoted again in 09/10 season.

The here and now is that we've just sold our best player for loads of money and haven't replaced him yet. Obviously what we do in the next window is very relevant.

Yes it's a natural improvement but it's still an improvement (and I do think we've improved relative to other sides too, most definitely), and the question for me is will it continue? If yes: good. If no: bad.

The last player we sold for loads of cash was Andy Carroll - how long did it take to replace him? I'd suggest we still haven't considering our current striking options.

Out of interest where do you think we'll finish this season?

Remy, Gouffran and de Jong aren't so bad I don't think? I'd love to keep them all and replace Shola to boot.

    I think we'll finish in 8th or 9th.

    Gouffran?

  5. It's possible. If in September I look at our lineup and see that it's gone downhill compared to the last 3 years I'll have to conclude that we're not making enough effort.

We haven't signed a player on a permanent deal for 2 whole transfer windows. Do you conclude that we are making sufficient effort you absolute f***ing imbecile?

    :-) (he's angry now)

  7. He is a c***, mind. Not so long back he was saying how good it was to see Kinnear back and that we were 'flying' before he had his heart attack. As a fella I can't stand him.

    agreed 100%

  8. I'm f***ing sick of seeing the c*** on SSN every time I switch it on. I do wish he'd f*** off and find better things to do. I do wish that SSN would stop licking his f***ing arse to fill air time.

First SSN story on the hour starts with the words "Jose Mourinho thinks. . . " Really? Who gives a flying f*** what he thinks you suck holing b******s.

    I'm delighted I don't pay for this s****.

    Top post!

  9. Just read this on SS:

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9159836/?

Alan Pardew would have no complaints if Newcastle United look to appoint another director of football.

Joe Kinnear had filled that role since June, but has stepped down from that post following criticism over his transfer dealings.

No permanent signings were brought into St James' Park during his time in charge of recruitment, while influential midfielder Yohan Cabaye was allowed to leave for Paris Saint-Germain in January.

With the window now closed, Newcastle have until the summer to decide on their next move.

Pardew claims he would be happy to see another appointment made to aid the pursuit of fresh faces, with his focus locked on events on the field.

He told the Evening Chronicle: "I haven't got any problem with taking the club forward, whichever way the board decide to go.

"The most important thing is we have good people here. We have a good scouting team and we can go forward as we are.

"If that decision is made, then it's no problem. It's difficult at the moment for us."

Having seen Kinnear head through the exits, Pardew has also lost reserve team coach Willie Donachie from his backroom staff.

He is, however, convinced that fortunes will turn for Newcastle over the coming months.

Pardew said after Saturday's 3-0 reversal at Chelsea: "We had a blow with Willie leaving as well.

"For us, it is about making sure performances are strong.

"We've got 13 games to go and once we get Tottenham out the way I think we have a strong side and we will finish strong I hope.

"The spirit is good, we proved that. Nobody can accuse us of not having a spirited performance; it was certainly that."

Am I reading that wrong or has he pretty much just thrown the towel in against Spurs with that statement?

Maybe with the injuries and suspensions, Spurs excellent away form and our near bottom of the form table results, he's just not expecting 3 points. Neither am I.

as a fan you're allowed to be pessimistic, but the manager?!?! :-/

  10. Steven Taylor feels the media are to blame for Newcastle United's woes

Steven Taylor has blamed the media for the storm surrounding Newcastle United at the moment.

The Toon defender, though, says that, despite losing to Sunderland in their third derby in a row and finding themselves off the pace, the Magpies’ team spirit will not be broken.

United were no match for Chelsea on Saturday and while they battled, with the Blues powering in 18 shots to Newcastle’s 16, the clinical finishing of Eden Hazard made it a straight-forward win for Chelsea.

Afterwards Taylor went on the defensive and said: “It is just the media and speculation and what everybody wants to write about that is causing a few things.

“They can say what they want but the players and the coaching staff are just going to stick together because we are in it together.”

Reflecting on United’s fifth defeat of the year so far, Taylor added: “It was difficult for us. We started off pretty well, the lads dug in at times when it was difficult but when you give Chelsea opportunities like we did, with the quality they have, it is always going to be difficult.

“I think all their players have star quality, even the players on their bench. They are always going to be difficult to play against.”

In analysing where it all went wrong against the Blues Taylor said: “I thought we dealt with pretty much everything in the first half except for the two goals we gave away but we created good chances before their second goal and we could have gone level with Moussa’s (Sissoko) chance.

“We had three great chances there and on another day they could have gone in.”

Now United face a home game with Tottenham as they bid to win their first game without midfielder Yohan Cabaye.

Taylor said: “We just have to keep building.

“Wednesday is a massive night at St James’ Park and for us hopefully we can get three points if we can take the game to Tottenham and attack.”

as if his soulless performance wasn't already enough... can't stand that wanker

It's funny that Mourihno's negativity is always viewed as tactical astuteness by the same people who criticize Pardew

It's funny that a manager who has won the European Cup twice is being mentioned in the same sentence as a manager whose only piece of silverware is the Johnstone's paint trophy.

wouldn't want that arrogant t*** to manage NUFC
