It's a competitive league. Bournemouth have skillful players with a good manager. They have a CL level striker they've just dropped into the side. This is my real concern with the transfer window - everybody is looking to move forward and improve - you can't afford to stand still.

A dirty part of me really wishes Bruno's release clause was met and we were able to do a refresh with 4-5 signings. At the moment it just looks so.... stale.

Yes, thats why we need players. Stop looking for players we cant, there are so many players that would improve out shit ones. What are we doing??

  2. Just get him! If we really think he will be massive here we just have to take the bite and the one driving this take the blame.

we really need a top cb in pronto.

  3. Agree that we problably slow because our best have had little pre season. But I think its clear were not gonna change our style.

No europa is a bless in that. Though Howe need to be able to manage that if he want to be successfully here. And that need to inclued us beeing in controll more, i think.

People were moaning last season that his tactics were causing injuries. We press less, people are moaning we didn't press with the same intensity. Some people just like to moan.

Less press is ok, if we can keep the ball.

I do worry, or hope that we do develop the ability to control a game at our own pace, and not constantly seek transitions to score our goals. But with our personal, I'm not so sure

I been banging for this for years. But I have given up the thought of that happening. Its either the players or Howe, or both.

But for us to take the next step I think we have to be able to controll games.

£50m was always going to be knocked back and rightfully so in this current market. Feels a waste of time low balling its obvious we'll need to bid at least £60m, he is now an established England centre back and only 24

If we go to high at first palace will just up their price. Seems normal and the right way.

Sometimes the most popular choice isn't the right one. Keegan was unanimous in his popularity as he was tearing it up with Fulham at the time, fans thought all-out-attack England etc

In fact every choice which has logically made sense and fairly popular - e.g. Eriksson, Capello, Hodgson has flopped. And the non-plussed options like Southgate did well.

Howe is a field manager - i.e. improves players over time. The national job does not cater for this.

You need someone tactically very sharp and can put together a solid system. Not necessrily a slow burn builder. Potter is similar to Howe. A Benitez would actually work wonders with England and he's a winner, too - so could get them over the line in finals.

I also don't think Howe is suitable for the England job. I think his strengths are on the training pitch and his weaknesses are in match coaching, just the reverse should be preferred in a national job.

Watched the Geordie Journos on YouTube earlier and they were saying that Howe had a more harder tone at the press conference with the tabloids, compared to the video interviews.

Recently found this channel. Really good I think, gives a little more substance to everything.

  9. He needs to be told his place (and maybe Howe too), and also give Isak the nr 9. Something for Bunce to look into.

  10. Several good comments. I stand on the side that I think the direction the club has taken behind the scenes is exactly the right way forward. I think last season overall was kind of a "failure" and changes are necessary to be made. I think Howe is a great coach (with flaws of course) but think he sometimes seems to see himself bigger than he is. If he doesn't like to focus more on coaching, then it's better for all parties with a chance. I think it's a given that he should be allowed to have opinions about signings etc. (I don't like the arrangement that coaches only get what is served, ala Chelsea) but it should be more advisory than demanding. Also be guided when we need to sell.

Now the club really need a heavy signing for everyone to feel better!
