  1. Yes, I don't understand why we have such a hard time letting them go. Is it because Howe is stubborn? Or that no one wants to take them with a pair of tongs? Or that they cling on? We should be able to get rid of some of the mentioned players this year. Anything less would be a disappointment.

  2. I wonder what the plan is. As many has said, goalkeepers need to play. It doesn't seem likely in any way that he will sit on the bench. Can we believe that he has a chance to become the first-choice goalkeeper next season? Even if he doesn't start as one.

    He turned down Chelsea’s offer,
Said no to Man United too,
He came to wear the black and white,
He’s here for me and you,

    Oh Tosin, oh Tosin,
    You’re our Geordie pride,
You chose the mighty Toon Army,
    And left the rest behind!

From Stamford Bridge to Old Trafford,
    They all wanted you,
    But Tosin saw the glory,
    Of playing for the Toon!

    Oh Tosin, oh Tosin,

Willock = modern Gillespie (minus the gambling)?
personally I think he’s fucking excellent and we’d be mad to get rid.

Yeah I like him a lot too, when he plays.

No idea. Is his injury that bad? If so it was another masterstroke by our medical team and/or management to throw him back in when he was clearly miles away from being fit.

Was half serious and half joking. But his injury situation the last 12 month (and earlier) doesnt fill me with confidence. A good player for his role though when healthy.

Provided he can get/stay fit in the summer there's no way we should be selling him. The gap in ability between him and Longstaff/Anderson is a chasm.

Will he ever play again though?

Spors has such a different profile to Dougie which makes this one a bit surprising to me like.

Yeah dont understand a thing here. Surely it can't be one or the other? Or was it for two different positions like we seem to be after?

So EPL clubs are doing everything they can to raise more cash, including raising ticket prices, what a fuckin joke this system is

Just put a damn cap on everything, like american sports (I know). All this has taken its toll of us suporters.

But for real, no one can feel this is fun. In times of economic and environmental crisis it´s not right that you have to fly a cross the globe to get some pennies.

What's worst is that people have liked this post.

Let´s see what happens then, this summer. No exuses to not challange for top 4 and finish in a EL spot.

  10. Agree. But if we sell some players and really focus on a strong eleven we make it. All other clubs have europe also. Can see Villa and Spurs falling off. Then Chelsea and Man United you dont know. Same Liverpool to some extent. If we dont make EL at least I think Howes gone.

But say we’re finished 6th which is the target that would make me happy but at the same time had a bit of a clear out and brought better in - would you be calling for him to go?

It depends I would say. Its tight at the top so if we do a good season and still end up "just" top 6, then I would say its ok. But if we huff and puff again and get top 6, just, with no real chance of a higher position. Then I would not be to sure.

22/23 we also had 3rd worst injury record. Having less football due to not being Europe will help, but there’s something more fundamentally wrong at the club which needs resolved.

Yeah, always feelt that this season wasnt just about bad luck. I think we need to be smarter and better with the ball. And that Howe has to be more flexibel with the squad between and in games. just not standrad 60 min subs regardless.

We also has to be able to play and keep the ball and controll a game. to play defence like we did last season is not sustainable to prevent injurys, and win football games.

    We are doing something wrong.

Is his contract length 5 year? For me his minimum target is to take us into a regular top 6 club whilst cutting free dead wood and rebuilding - ideally with huge goings on in the academy so we can call on them in the future either for a call up to first team or additional revenue stream. Anything above that fire me is just gravy.

i can see why people are adding CL as a target as we got it once but our squad is still so far behind the top teams to expect that season in season out just yet in my opinion.

For top 4-5 with no european football and with a good summer I dont really think we are that far behind. I think we will have a eleven that will challange with no excuses.

  14. Yeah, next season is of massive significance for Howe. He must show that he can become a winner and not just play attractive football. Several times this year, and last year, we have lost and played our worst when it mattered the most. Next season, there will be no excuses, and we must become more clinical and ruthless. I am looking forward to a more cynical and efficient style of play where we have strengthened the squad in the positions we need. Not just going for 'good deals'."

Yes, I'd rather we were not in it, I made that clear. However Man U will be in the EL, which is a more prestigious competition, plus it means they'll play more games than us next season and therefore more oportunities for him to play. Not forgetting also that they'll probably offer him higher wages as well.

But if he want to play for us because of Howe that really dont matter. And he will be a starter with his position to lose.

He's 32, and most keepers nowadays decline rapidly past 35. His age does not bother me atm, it's likely his dodgy shoulder is the reason we're looking for a replacement.

And that he cant handle a ball.
