It´s not about what players offers, just how popular they are.

So frustrating, as I genuinely think he has the tools to be a good player.  Just lacks a brain, bottle and confidence, always seems to make the wrong decision.  Obertan's games seem to always go like this:

Gets up to full speed, then stops when he gets to the full back.  Looks to go inside where there is acres of space, then tries to go down the outside. Runs into his man or half beats him with a few nice stepovers, gets a throw or a corner if he's lucky, more often than not picks out the first man with a pathetic 5-10 yard pass/cross.  Rinse and repeat.

 

Dont jump on me for saying this ,but isnt that what Jonas has been like in his worse games for us? He has changed his game the past 2 years, and he added an end product too, but early on especially in the relegation season near the end, i swear this was written about him (the bold bit especially!) 

That´s the point. Almost everyone complains whatever he does when we have tons of other players that isn´t exactly setting the world on fire.

I agree that he is frustrating to watch sometimes as he basically got the tools to succeed. Still I wouldn´t sell him as he offers qualities that no others do with his running.

But like Shola he should play a maximum of 10-20 minutes a game.

all he can hope for is to be the new Nolan and that is a player I really don´t like. Well maybe if you are a team fighting to stay in the division (which I don´t hope we have to do again).

It's irrelevant. He hasn't let anyone down. He's coming back from several seasons out with injuries. His technique is good, he needs to figure out how to use it and the tempo in England. He's far more capable and potent than many other players. Your reaction is over the top and brings his performance into a dramatic context, as it always does.

Don´t think so. And beside I haven´t said anything about the future. Just that he´s a long way from being good enough to play in the PL. Just sick of people overrating so many players.

Yeah with Gosling, Vuckic, Willo, Shola, Harper, Simpson and some others so we won´t have any players left. Because playing with 5 men is better than having Obertan at the bench.

The way some people is defending some players and writing of some is hilarious.

He seems to have some skills with the ball, sometimes. But that is just not enough. Right now offers he no more than Gosling. So it´s up to them to start performing, and that fast.

So annoying to lose when we was just as good. But just face it. When our best players aren´t playing the players behind really don´t have that extra to score.

this is class. We just don´t have the players that are class.

More frustrated that the likes of Gosling and Obertan are getting a look in over players who may not be no-hopers such as Bigi, Sammy and Amalfitano.

I gladly been shown the opposite. But I really get irritated when some players always get slaughtered and some don´t, even if they are performing at the same level.

It´s very poor from the coaching staff to do the same thing over and over again when it´s clear it´s not working. To be honest it´s embarasing. Especially when Pardew even said at the end of last season that it was something we needed to be working at

You know what. Every place need someone to dare to have the opposite opinion so that nothing is taken for granted without good arguments

It's not stupid, to be fair. He's made a couple of good points. However, we have played a lot better than we are right now. So, I'm happy to put it down to early season form, for now.

You can hope so. But why I´m not so sure is that we basically has start from scratch again, even if we was playing so good last season. I know that we can play, we have even seen glimpses of it this season, and that is why it is so frustrating.

I have said it before and is saying it again. I´m not that sold with Pardew as a coach. Yes he has exceeded the expectations by far. But after a so good year as the last one this was the season to build on that. Yes Ashley hasn´t made it easy. But to have been here almost 2 years we are still struggling to have a good offensive and we are pathetically bad a set pieces.

 

He talks a lot about "play it at the deck" and "control the game". I don´t think he has that in him to teach. That and that he seems to have some weird ideas about formations and personnel.

 

So far this season. The quality of our first team has definitely saved us.

But most times, like this time, I just write what I´m thinking just so a debate can get going. But it doesn´t really help with responses like this. so I ask again. What do you disagree with? Don´t you think that we are struggling to control games even if we have class players?

Just look at a team like Arsenal. They can lose player after player. but there passing game never get bad. I think that is more to coaching than anything else. Don´t say that, that is they only way forward. But we would die if we got better at it.
