  1. He's 24 in September, I was surprised he's that old. He reminds me of Ronaldo when he first came to England, flashy but still needed a lot of work on his productivity. Ronaldo is only 22 now, and is a much better player already. Quaresma whenever I've seen him still seems a bit flaky. If Quaresma was only 20 or so I'd want him, but you'd have to wonder if he's ever gonna be a top player, or just another Denilson type, blinding skill but not enough end product. He'd be fun to watch though so whatever.

Brilliant game that Real-Zaragoza game was. Such a title race, shame Sevilla couldn't win but still. Real have it won now IMO, can't see them not winning next week. Barca will be absolutely kicking themselves.

    Barca winning as things stand.
  4. I think Martins might struggle on the occassions when he is out wide and he needs to deliver a telling pass or cross. No moreso than he does when he plays up front really. His delivery would have to be worked on, no doubt. But his sheer pace would make him a nightmare for defenders in one on one situations.
  5. On the right of a 4-3-3 formation is very different to the right of a 4-4-2 to be fair, and I think the position would suit Bellamy. Would probably suit Martins too.
  6. If Bellamy is off to West Ham then surely Tevez is on his way out? Those two couldn't play in the same team, can't see either being happy on the bench either.
  7. You admit it!! Seriously though, I'd agree with Baines and Ben Haim and wouldn't be overly disappointed with Brown as a utility man (would he really want to leave his spot as utility man at Man U to be one here though?) but I personally don't think it's unreasonable to expect one or two big money acquisitions to compliment the deep squad we're building through cheap/free pickups. Fourth is out of our reach next year I'd agree, but the season after that there's no real reason we can't be pushing for it.
  8. It's not the same thing, or even at all similiar, tbh. There's a legitimate debate over whether Martins or Bellamy would be of more use to us, doubt anyone on earth would argue Sib is anywhere near Viduka as a player. Bellamy would probably be an upgrade on Martins in the short term, but within a couple of years I'd expect Oba will be the better player so don't think the deal would make sense at all.
  9. People laughing at other people's suggestions without offering suggestions of their own =
  10. Liverpool hardly play to Belamys strengths do they? Allardyce plays a pretty direct style too, would we really be playing to his strenghts either? Think Bellamy is declining as a player personally, he'll be 28 by the time next season starts and he's quite injury prone. Just don't think it's a significant enough upgrade, and its one we would probably regret in two or three years time. That Tevez chap at West Ham is who we should be after.
  11. It's illegal to drive without insurance though.
  12. Wouldn't be overly bothered seeing any of those go, but if we sell Martins I'd want us to aim higher than Bellamy if I'm honest. He's proved this season at Liverpool he's not really good enough for a team aiming to push on towards the very top of the table, which must be our aim. Wouldn't be upset to see Dyer stay and challenege Nobby for the spot at RB. I'd get rid of Duff before Dyer for sure.
  13. I've not been in many pubs other than The Union Rooms in Newcastle, I'd hope they have better to offer tbh.
  14. This is all Man City's fault. If they would just pay him his loyalty bonus, which he clearly deserves, then he could afford the insurance. Lousy bastards they are.
  15. Aye, but without a solid team around him that allowed Robert to go missing for long periods he'd never have gotten so many assists/goals either.
  16. Sell Martins, move heaven and earth to get Tevez tbh.
  17. SBR or not, when Bellamy and Robert were absent that season we looked a different team and not for the better Obviously, considering they were two of our better players at the time. Same would apply to absolutely any team. not really, Man U lose two of their 'better players' ie Vidic, Carrick, they're not going to look a different team Spurs lose Zakora, Keane, they're not going to look a different team. We did, Bellamy and Robert transformed us from a hard-working half-solid unit to a team with real penetration. Say Man United lose Ronaldo and Scholes then, they look a different team? yeah, then they are a different team but then Ronaldo isn't one of their 'better' players, he's their best which was my original point about Bellamy and Robert Debateable he's their best player, Scholes and Rooney are just as important to them. Say you take out Rooney and Carrick then, I'm sure Man U would struggle still. Not denying Robert and Bellamy were very important to us, but they were hardly our two stand-out players or anything. If we took out Shearer and Solano during the same period we'd have not looked the same team either.
  18. Wash your mouth out! We don't want those types in these here parts! I'll wash your mouth out with my fist! If you read my posts in the "Who would you sign now?" thread and the replies I've been getting, you'll see I'm being tongue in cheek. Thought it was quite obvious I was only joking tbh.

  22. Wouldn't be overly excited if we got Bellamy back, as it would surely mean the end for either Owen or Martins. Owen is in another league to Bellamy as a player, while Martins I think will be a better player than Bellamy within a couple of years.
  23. Can't say I know a whole lot about him, but if we add him on a free for squad depth then I certainly won't complain. Really liking the summer so far, seem to be trying to build a deep squad with some good free transfers. Now if Ashley hands Big Sam a big ass transfer kitty he can go out and spend it on two or three really top class additions.
  24. Viduka would probably be more suited to being a Number 9 than Oba, but unless Martins leaves then it'd be a complete shambles and a disgrace to take it off him.
