  1. Why is it crazy?

I am no great lover of Ashley but to continue to spend money on a product that was already heavily in debt to a manager who only wants overpaid superstars was a recipe for disaster. We dont exactly have a record of buying well, do we?

Ashley has come in, spent his own money in interest free loans to the club to basically save us from oblivion because there is no denying that was where we were heading under the Shepherd regime.

Keegan has a great record of signing known players but when was the last time he produced one of his own. The club clearly could not fund his requests and it was obvious something had to give. It wasnt going to be the owner.

As usual, it all comes down to money. We couldnt afford to give him any and he couldnt accept that, along with the structure MA put in place.

and one other thing as well, constructively dismissed or not, Keegan walked away from our club.......TWICE. Much the same as he did at Fulham, England and City. I am sure the 2-5 million quid he got off the club went a long way to paying off his soccer circus debts. Coincidence or what.

3 Points - 1. Ashley was the one that bought the club, he sshould have new about any debt before he bought it. 2. He appointed KK, you cant appoint someone like him then complain if he asks for money. 3 Where is this nonsense about him wanting overpaid superstars coming from?

With regards to the overpaid superstars think the quotes came from Dennis Wise or Llambias, who are trustworthy stand up guys

  2. I'd definitely take him. We rely on Tiote's athleticism in midfield, if Reo-Coker's still as fast and strong as he used to be he'd be good CM cover.

Rio-Cocker is a s*** player. He lacks football intelligence: passes to late and his passing skills are a disgrace. He tends to give the ball away in bad positions, or looses the ball when the team is in counterattack, either through a s*** pass or because he runs with the ball too long.

Which still makes him better than Smith

  3. Can't really argue with the team's performances since Pardew took over, although whether we'd have done better or worse with Hughton I don't know.

Still can't stand the guy though, mainly because I don't trust a single word which comes out of his mouth, if only he had the quiet dignity of Hughton I would be much happier.

  4. It just screams of cheapness again, didn't want to spend as big on wages for Aliadiere and Ewerthon so we get Kuqi, I wish the guy luck but really can't see him being a success

  5. Aliadiere is hardly promising but beggars can't be choosers. Even if he does a pancrate and only has one good game it would still be a good deal, at the moment can't see where out next premier league points are coming from

  6. Some way to go, but sounds like the first good news of the week to me !

Stalker - I don't know the actual figures but I wouldn't be so sure the UK market is so much bigger ??  They're nuts about the game in Germany too and have a very healthy competitive league, a very comprehensive TV product and a bigger population and economy as well. Even smaller countries like Greece have huge TV audiences for their domestic fixtures.

I hate the Sky propoganda "The Premier League's current deal with Sky is worth nearly £2bn - money the league argues is invested in maintaining the quality of the product"

our league was more exciting 10 or even 20 years ago than it is today, it just wasn't any where near as much hyped. Sky's money and therefore domination of the game has been bad for most real football fans.

Not shaping up to be a great year for Murdoch so far. ;D

Sorry think you misunderstood what I said, I meant the market for premier league football only, wasn't saying anything about the domestic leagues and their tv following elsewhere.

  7. Definitely a good decision- Ranger may be better in the long run but after some of his performances of late I don't think he is anywhere near ready to lead the line yet. With Carroll injured, Shola is our best target man, which is a bit tragic, so we can't afford to lose him.

  8. Deserves a new deal like, top class this season.

Definitely deserves a new deal based on this season, although we've paid him a fortune for doing nothing for a few years so hopefully he'll show some respect and restraint in his dealings over a new contract.

Really hope Pardew doesn't ever try to play him on the left wing again like last week, the only reason we would want him out wide is because he's a good crosser of the ball, but on his right foot only.

  9. Bothroyd is a guy who has always had the talent but never the right attitude. One of my mates is a Wolves fan so I saw him play for them a lot and he's one of the laziest players around. Don't really want him anywhere near Newcastle, its taken until he's 29 for him to put some effort in, and I'm sure if he secured a big pay day off us he could easily slip back into old habits.

  10. As i live in the area been to quite a few birmingham games in the last few years and i have to say he's never really stood out for me he's a so-so player has a decent set peice  but never beats his man i think we would be better of elsewere tbh.Would take Bentley all day over him.

This is what worries me a bit, I know he has good delivery but lacks pace (I know he's not really slow, buts he's no winger) and is not the most penetrating player. How different is he to Ryan Taylor who hasn't had a look in this season?

  11. Have been reasonably impressed by how the team has played so far, although still think he's largely using Chris Hughton's formation and tactics. One thing that is really pissing me off though is that he will give the press a quote on anything, regardless if he has any knowledge about it.

  12. Quite where anyone gets the idea that Ashley is a selling "chairman" is beyond me.  Which first teamers have we sold that (a) we wanted to keep or (b) the player wanted to stay?

Ok we sold Martins but he was no loss was he?  Viduka retired, and Owen ran his contract down.  Habib Beye was no loss either as he wanted to go. As did Duff.

All Ashley did was sell players who didn't fancy a spell in the Championship and who were all on massive wages.  Common sense to me, but most fans are so blinded by their bigoted hatred of Ashley that they cannot see that any chairman/owner would do the same, and would be critisized if they did not!

Wasn't there quotes a while ago about the club's policy to buy young players and develop them then sell them for a profit

  13. On the back of The Guardian sport today it says he has had the second most touches of the ball of any player in the premier league, just behind john obi mikel. Just goes to show how invaluable he is to us

  14. Spot on Cronky. Your not going to get a number 2 from outside the area who has made good coin, come & sign up with a deal that you would imagine would be in line with the managers.

Yep, was never happening. We'll get a promotion from within or an older ex manager who's been out of the game a while will come in I reckon.

Promotion from within is pretty likely given previous appointments. Just wonder whether we are actually filling any of the vacancies which arise when we promote people, we must have the smallest coaching staff in the league

  15. Cant believe some of the ridiculous excuses made for him on here.  If he banged her head off the floor or the bath, they are both unacceptable.  You cant say the multiple run ins he's been involved in over the last couple of years are all self defence.  If he's charged or if he goes down next week, move him on.  The club are part at fault for not dealing with him properly over the Taylor incident.  Also, which w***** gave him a contract 3 wks before a case at crown court?

She might have banged her head on the bath while he was banging her though.

I personally think this whole story is a load of rubbish and all charges will end up being dropped or he will get off on the self defence plea.

So he's the new Lee Chapman then

  16. 'They should ban De Jong until Ben Arfa can play again. De Jong shouldn't be allowed to play football. His tackle was criminal. He already injured another player (Stuart Holden) last season.' - Enrique

I just love Enrique more and more each day. Sadly though, he's probably the one who'll get punished for calling the referee "laughable"
