  1. greg you beat me to it

i think he has done a good job and will be sad to see him leave

I think one of the worrying things about that article on the official site is that going on what t*** face labiarsehole said it doesn't look like he will be replaced. Hope I've got the wrong end of his comments.

Yeah its deeply concerning. How many "senior" coaching staff do we actually have left at the club now? Another example of doing it on the cheap.

  2. What woull hurt him tho would be a drop in the pay on the day ticket buyers.

Depends what the income is from them. Out of the 44k on Saturday how many were season tickets/away fans/corporate areas? If we went 15k as pay on the door: Taking into account concessions maybe £200k a match plus whatever crap they eat/drink inside? Its probably going to take a long term plan on those figures for him to panic, the huge danger in the meantime is he sells Taylor/Colo/Jonas to recoup any such loss even if such a boycott occurred.

Luckily I think Taylor would tell Ashley where to stick it if they tried to sell him, he said as much in the summer. The other 2 would happily be out the door though.

  3. Would send a hell of a message if the attendance for the next home game dropped to 20,000 ish

yes he'll think we are even more stupid than he already thinks we are, he'll be pissing his pants if the crowd drops to 20k when he's already got the ticket money in!  he's got the gate money already he'll not be bothered if there's just him and llambiar sitting there in the milburn with a couple of 1000 away fans in level 7.

I was figuring the season ticket holders would turn up anyway, meant more the people who are buying their tickets game by game

  4. I think Henry has only scored 8 league goals, I got told Carragher had scored 9, can't find anywhere to check it tho

f*** it, I messed up the question, It's which current premiership player

    I checked Soccerbase.

Your answer is right (well its Shearer and Henry, I think I've been misled on the Carragher thing) but he's only scored 8 league goals, think you've added in some in the cup

Think its a joke one, heard it a few times but cant remember why the answer was 14 ;D

Oops messed up the question, it's which current premiership player

  6. I thought Ashley cleared off all our debts, well at least that's what the media keep spouting when they say he's put £250 million into the club.  So if we are not in debt can't see the need to sell players.

Sadly though I'd assume the £250m ashley put in, will include a loan from him of £120m or so which is where all the money is going, which may be going back to him or he may have already sold that debt onto someone else.

As regards to a boycott damaging the chance of a sale, I'm not so sure on this, surely a boycott will only last as long as Ashley owns the club. This makes holding onto the club far less attractive for Ashley and I'm not sure the negative effect on willingness to buy of new owners would be as large.

  7. Out of interest does anyone believe a word of the 5 consortium stuff?

    press association ain't exactly bullshitters

But they will be being fed by the same sources as the Times, Mirror etc....

and usually thats not from the ashley point of view as simon bird and caulkin are both harsh critics of him. Ashley slanted "exclusives" tend to appear in the news of the world and the sun (see llambias interview during summer, what keegan was suing for recently in the sun, keegans "wish list" in notw last year

you being serious?  you reference the 2 national journalists who actually like Newcastle as a club and say therefore the press association won't be fed Ashley's bollocks

and are you being serious with the outcome of the keegan case showing them as a bunch of liars that any press organisation with a shred of dignity would take anything that comes from the ashley regime as anything other than a bunch of self serving lies

Skysports gave the man at the centre of it all the chance to "give his side of the story" without the slightest bit of interrogation, not sure I can hold the press association in any higher regard. After all a source is a source to them, at least its better than making them up as many of the papers seem to.

  9. I'd happily have Shearer but not for the wages which were been bandied around in the summer (got a feeling it was £2-3 million ish). He's an inexperienced manager so should be paid accordingly, not based on his status as our best player of modern times.

  10. Speaking solely about this Nacho Fonzalez deal. It was supposedly a shady deal designed to get us in the good books of two, presumably prominent, agents in South America, with the aim of getting first refusal on up and coming players.

Well the Nacho deal went ahead, so where are these other South American players? Gonzalez was signed well over a year ago, two transfer windows have passed since and there's been no activity. Does anyone expect us to start signing these other players any time soon?

For the sake of losing a manager it was hardly done for "the greater good" as Wise put it. The fallout from this episode has ended up in relegation.

Its a good point. Also surely work permit rules make it nigh on impossible to sign young south american players?

They're argument about not paying the agents anything is pretty ropey as well, surely they were taking a cut of his salary as his agents (I know some will argue this is different to paying them directly, but clearly the agents were still benefitting very well from the deal).

  11. Best quote in it:

Mr Wise then told him that the player was on “You Tube” and that Mr Keegan could look him up there but he found that the clips were of poor quality and provided no proper basis for signing a player to a Premier League Club.

  12. Out of interest how to you distinguish between when a player jumps out the way to avoid getting his leg broke (particularly when the defender then pulls his foot out of the challenge) and a dive to con the referee? I know in some cases its obvious but there's a big grey area and I can't see any objective way of applying these rules

  13. One thing is for sure, the current squad we have will see us come straight down unless the rebuild starts in January. Whilst winning promotion is something to aim for I cant help feel that we could experience the worst and most depressing season (next season) of our clubs history if we do go up this summer.

If we win promotion Ashley will up his asking price for the club to silly numbers. I'm sure we will bring in two or three new players if we go up but I imagine they will be purely squad players, not enough to ensure we make a good account of ourselves in the Premiership and certainly not enough to beat the drop.

Thing is, what are we going up for? To avoid relegation by the skin of our teeth each season? To languish in midtable season after season? To pay more for match day and season tickets?

I'm enjoying our time in the Chamionship more than I thought I would. Of course we are performaing well but much of it has to do with how open the league is and that there isnt an established closed shop at the top of the league like in the Prem. Plus, now we have fallen out of the Prem the press have focused their sniping and talons away from us.

Think you've summed it up well there. If we get promoted Ashley will raise his asking price to £300 million or something, we'll go through another summer of limbo as he says a sale is only just around the corner, we'll get a few players in on transfer deadline day then battle against relegation all season
