  1. And we know this how sorry? look at his quotes. He'd want financial backing or did you not see his assessment of midfielders "That can't pass." He also mentioned the paper thin squad, subtle connotations that he'd want money, as I don't expect him to be looking at the loan and free agent market. He also mentioned his list of 7-8, those players won't be cheap. So when Dave said 'Ashley didn't like the home truths of what Shearer said'.. which you questioned at the time, you now completely agree to it? In the space of just over an hour.
  2. The extra money from ST's and the mood around the club would justify his wage.
  3. Real paid €30m for him, and he is still pretty high rated so i believe they won't take on low bids for him, now tell me, how the hell is Villa gonna pay like €20-25m for this guy? Do they have that money? Gareth Barry money
  4. Agree completely. I can't get excited for this at all, with us in limbo like this.
  5. Benitez will still no doubt whine about his lack of transfer funds. Alonso they got 30 million, they forfeited outstanding money owed to them from Portsmouth for Glen Johnson, Arbeloa(sp) sold, then there is the Robbie Keane 15million - they have yet to spend. I think Benitez has a point.
  6. Have you seen how many defenders we have left? Have you seen how many prolific goal scorers we have in our squad? Have you seen the dazzling pace we have in our team? Unless replacements are brought in quick sharpish, we have an excellent chance of being relegated again. We will end up in no mans land if we don't sort this f***ing mess out sharpish, but relegated from the Championship? I take your point about the defence and we really do need to strengthen there (I think we will in the end), but we will definitely have Carroll, Ameobi, Ranger, Smith and Duff (if we're desperate) available for us. I don't think we will lose any of them due to huge wages, not being good enough for a Premiership team to sign, and the young lads will feel they will have a chance to shine. Them players there will see that we're not totally f***ed up front. Theres nobody who thinks we need a couple of strikers more than me like, but if the worst comes to worst. Lets not delude ourselves into thinking this squad is strong enough for any sort of promotion push, but it won't go down either. I think a Premiership team would take a punt on Alan Smith and Duff by the end of the window tbh, could just be wishful thinking but seeing the likes of Zamora going for 5 million gives me hope.
  7. Thats around 15.6 Million - dropped that supposed 64 million wage bill to around 48-50 million est. now. Geremi still here?

    RIP sale thread.

If it's true then why doesn't Ashley just quietly get the deal done with Moat or whoever rather than leak these favourable terms through the press? who said he leaked anything? How else would it become public knowledge? Only one man is involved in the sale process?

No, not denied as far as I know, just that SSN are saying it 'unlikely' . . and I think they have been 'fed' this to stop the deal breaking down. In my view, it is happening!! And the chron claim to have had it denied thismorning by the club Yeah, it all seems to add up (to me). They WOULD say this to the media, if a genuine bid had been 'leaked'. They would say it if there is no takeover happening too. Not to get people's hopes up.
  11. What about bringing in 16 times the fee we paid and being our best player for the whole season? Or did you expect us to keep him? ..Nothing like being bitter though. Good luck to the lad, i don't mind that it's Spurs either, he will get a lot of first team appearances in a team that was performing very well indeed at the close of the season. Gurantee there's a sell on clause with Metz, or are you only bothered about making profits? Why couldn't we keep him sorry he's on like 5k a week. One of the few I thought we would, but hey nothing like being optimistic. The lad was the first one wanting out, when he'd been far from perfect. Showed all the loyalty and class I'd expect. Loyalty?! he was here a year, he had 4 managers, his team mates were on 10 times as much as him and they gave up half-way through the year. When he was negotiating a new contract talks halted or ground to a close IIRC and he should be playing in the Premier League. He has ambitions, and didn't want to be at a club which is frankly a joke at the minute. Completely understandable. I also do care about the fee, anything that helps keep the club running in these times can only be a good thing. What about loyalty to the fans that have shown him nothing but support? He's hardly been the perfect defender, or are we ignoring the 2-3 red cards he picked up? The irony being it was his poor positioning that cost us the goal away to Tottenham. I overlook those because i saw a player who played out of his skin and was our best performer. He started the season as a good prospect, no one seriously expected anything of him this year. Or do you ignore that? He had a few bad games, he is 23 in his maiden season in the Premier League.. why do you expect a 'perfect' defender? I honestly believe Vidic or Ferdinand couldn't of done a lot better in our circumstances. Stop going on about loyalty, he was here less than a year... He owed Metz a lot more than us, he is not from this part of the world and bigger clubs are interested in him - who will offer him more than 5k. You're one of these people that don't blame the players for wanting to leave aren't you? The ones that have done nothing wrong ie: Bassong, Beye, Martins yee i don't blame them, they can further their careers elsewhere. The Nolans, Collocini's, Butt's' of the world it's a different story, i blame their very poor performances for being were we are now. So what exactly do you blame Bassong for out of curiosity? for his 3 red cards? poor positional sense against Spurs? Not being the perfect defender at 23? or are you just stupidly bitter? You blame Nolan??? FFS the lad was brought in in the January window, and started 10 games. A bit harsh to blame him for our relegation when the likes of Guttierez, Duff et al had longer at being s**** for us. It was more that type of player, on huge wages but wanting to stick around in no hurry to leave.
  12. Says the Inter Milan fan who defended Martins leaving

  15. It mean's fuck all. Man Utd without Ronaldo had a better win percentage last season.

  18. Stoichkov was a great player but he has always been a massive c***.. thick as pig s*** too.. can hardly string a sentence together.. no respect for his personality whatsoever Shearer on the other hand is the better goalscorer, the better professional and not a f***ing idiot are you saying that Shearer is a better player than Hristo Stoitchkov? Both in their primes I'd certainly say so. Probably not in a "when they had Bobby as manager" capacity unfortunately. nah buddy, as i much as i love Shearer as a player he wasn't a better player at all
  19. That must go down as denial of the century. Your just reading too much into it tbh.

Why would you need a smokescreen to get a takeover completed?
