  1. my latest contribution towards 500 pages I give you this link: http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle/4551678.BREAKING_NEWS_Ashley_flies_in_for_Newcastle_talks/
  2. George Caulkin says the money will be there but not sure if Ashley will accept it http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/newcastle/article6741322.ece
  3. NUSC released a statement to the Telegraph and make an interesting point about Moat supporting/being friends with Ashley. Maybe this means if the bid is genuine then it has a good chance of being accepted??? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/championship/newcastleunited/5983027/Newcastle-United-fans-urge-Barry-Moat-to-instill-Alan-Shearer-in-managers-hot-seat.html Telegraph Sport today revealed Moat has emerged as the front-runner to buy the club from owner Mike Ashley and now the Newcastle United Supporters Club are calling on him to restore Shearer to the manager's office as quickly as possible following his ill-fated stint as interim manager last season. "If Barry Moat is the man who can appoint a manager and bring some sort of stability back to the club then I think everyone would be happy," NUSC spokesman Steve Hastie told said. "It would mean that Ashley has moved on and the club is given the opportunity to have some more oxygen put into it because at the moment we seem to be starved of oxygen in terms of being able to live as a football club. "The first thing on his agenda should he take over the club is get in a new manager very quickly and as far as vast majority of fans are concerned that should be Alan Shearer. "I reckon that 99.9 per cent of Newcastle supporters who have been turning up at our roadshows over the last couple of months are all calling for Alan Shearer to be brought back to the club as manager because he is the only person who has actually come forward and said he wants the job other than Joe Kinnear. "The second thing he needs to do is ensure we have a squad capable of surviving in the Championship and climbing out of it as soon as possible because we need Premiership football back at Newcastle damn quick. "At least Barry is a North-East man who is a supporter of the club who has been a big supporter of Mike Ashley in terms of them being friends and having an executive box at St James' Park. "He is fairly well known in the North-East as a decent businessman who is very close to Alan Shearer and he even chaired his testimonial committee. He ticks all the boxes." Should Moat take Newcastle off Ashley's hands, NUSC also want him to involve fans in the running of the newly-relegated, manageress club whose new season gets under way at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday with coach Chris Hughton in charge of first-team affairs. "From a supporters' club point of view we have never been 'Ashley Out', it's been more of a case of supporters in and we want to work with whoever the new owner is to make sure that the supporter's voice is heard," Hastie added. "We have gone ahead over the last nine months to establish ourselves as a supporters' trust and our main aim is for fans to have a voice that is listened to at boardroom level to help any new owners restore those links that have been lacking with previous regimes, whether that be the Shepherds and Halls or the Mike Ashley regime. "We want to be in there, helping whoever runs Newcastle United to build the club back up and supporters can have a big say in how that can happen. "That's the stance we have been taking for quite a while now and we want to reiterate that with whoever comes in whether they're from the Middle East, Far East or North-East of England."
  4. We're all clutching at straws really, but say if he has got American backing who will put up the cash while remaining in the background due to knowing next to nowt about "soccer franchises" while he fronts the bid then it might be good because they will run the business side while Moat runs the football side. I would be happy with that. But it is all speculation I wish something would actually happen!!
  5. He's having Pie and Mash with Joe Kinnear You're probably right! Kinnear will be holding a press conference later today.
  6. Considering the Chronicle denied it earlier, they are now backtracking Moat is on todays front cover pictured with Ashley apparently.
  7. recieved this in a newsletter, from the Football Supporters Federation... if you don't know what it is go to: http://www.fsf.org.uk/ http://www.fsf.org.uk/fans-parliament/2009/index.php
  8. http://greg.org/archive/team_america_kji.jpg I wov the toon! I just imagined Ashley singing "I'm so Ronry" in the board room.
  9. You never know. He might see it as a good way to make some new friends, being as wonely as he is.
  10. No, it just shows that I've strong beliefs that every human should be free, and that I'm not morally bankrupt like some people. What about the kids who work in sweatshops to produce the shoddy clothing sold in Mike Ashley's shops and online businesses. Do they prick your consciences too? Are all your clothes fair-trade? Do you only buy chocolate that is fair trade? And coffee, tea and sugar? And cereals? Cos I bet you that you don't. Ridiculous comparison. James can make his own answer, but I buy fair trade a lot though, but by your definition, no one unless they are absolutely squeaky clean on everything always should ever take a stand against anything else that is wrong even when it is EVEN WORSE. No one unless they are filthy rich can afford to always make a stand on everything, but that does not mean that they have to support the takeover of NUFC by the ruler of a country which is on the UN blacklist for human trafficking. No wonder the original slave trade lasted so long and would have lasted even longer if everyone had to be morally pure before they said anything about it.
  11. I'm opposed to it for exactly the same reasons as James. Of course it is important. It is modern day SLAVERY.
  12. 'WHERE WHO THE FUCK IS NE5' FYP.
  13. Without knowing for sure the mind of the Shearer, he is saying it because it would be a breach of contract, and he would lose his BBC job which he may want to go back to, if we go down or the right terms aren't met with NUFC in the future. I do wish people would not mention Sven in the same sentence as anything related to Newcastle United. How many epic fails does one man have to achieve before he is never mentioned again with regards to the Toon job? If money is available to be spent, let Shearer or someone who is more suited for us spend it. We need someone who will unite the fans, not divide them anyway.
  14. ... and ... why would Shearer be bringing in his own staff and saying he is going to look into sorting out the injury problems. That is not going to happen in just 8 games. It doesn't add up to JK continuing as manager, no matter what is said it is just diplomacy, it has to be.
  15. That's a good point actually. Kinnear may well opt out himself knowing that he'll be hugely unpopular in comparison, or they may make it look that way. Perhaps it's already agreed. I think it must be already agreed. Why would Llambias be saying that JK made the suggestions, and I don't think that anyone is that stupid not to know how popular Shearer would be with the fans. Also there were those rumours last week about JK moving into another role.
  16. Did he give it in like a "It'll be hard for us to let Alan go", or a "f*** you, I know you love Alan but he's going" way? The former, I guess. Dunno though, he seems pretty sure Shearer is only here for eight games. IMO it has GOT to be Shearer's contract with the BBC. I think they're probably not too happy about any kind of talk that could breach his contract. I'm quite sure that all sorts of stuff was written into his contract, as they know the kind of managerial merry-go-round our club is, and that he'd be linked with every job going. Can't be anything else. The fact that he even mentioned the BBC in his press conference as his employers, thanking for giving him the sabbatical is a bit of a hint. Also, Shearer said all was finalized late last night, which is why we never heard from the club until later on in the evening. The BBC thing must be a sticking point. You might be right, and this way Shearer can still go back to his job if things don't work out, whereas if he or anyone else breaches his BBC contract by talking long term, then that door might be closed to him. It might just be diplomacy all round. I hope that is all it is.
  17. Llambiarse probably ran away after the question was too "tough"
  18. Not sure what to make of that really. Mixed messages about Kinnear coming back.
  19. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/playlive/bbc_radio_newcastle/ Probably should have posted it sooner although I did mention it in the other thread, there was an interview with Shearer already but maybe they will put it in a podcast anyway.
  20. There is a phone in and an interview with Llambias on Radio Newcastle soon. It is so rare to get any info from him I thought it was worth a new topic. Talking about how the appointment of Shearer came about.
  21. Well there is an interview on Radio Newcastle now with Shearer and then Llambias. He seemed to say it himself from the clip I heard earlier. He definately said that JK made some suggestions and was up for the idea.
