He can play RB/DM/RM/CM yes? I reckon Mourinho would if he felt like it anyway. Personally though I do agree in a lot of ways, I don't think he is as good as Milner there. Zogs best posititon is LM/LW. I can't help thinking though, that there must be a reason why Sam does it, it is not just to spite us, and he doesn't want to lose, so there must be a reason.

and yet wor goal tonight came from a cross from Geremi on the right, (flicked on by Smith and touched on by Martins). interestingly, the stats disagree (with the OP). because Milner also scores from the left. I think he plays Zogs as a left back to make him more "rounded" as a player. And doesn't as yet have complete confidence in Enrique for the big games. Lots of factors that could be the reason. People like to simplify though. And people like to overcomplicate. I think Sam is playing Zog because he thinks he's the better player for that particular match. His job's hanging in the balance, I don't think he's got time to start moulding players etc. when he knows he needs results ASAP. Depends if he believes in what he is doing I suppose. Only he can answer that.

Which one was it? I've been a Newcastle fan all of my life and i've never been as embarrassed as I was after the Liverpool match. It wasn't the performance, but the fans who acted so childshly. We've been spoilt by the relative success of the Keegan and Robson era's which has vastly inflated expectations. We need to understand that our performances over the past few seasons haven't been down to bad luck, but bad players and bad management. We're not a top six or even a top eight club and haven't been for a while now. The blame doesn't lie at the feet of Allardyce, Mort or Ashley but the likes of Souness, Shepherd and Douglas Hall. Give Big Sam time and he'll get it right. I agreed with it as well.

All as good as goals. He is not a goalscorer though. None of our central midfielders are really scoring goals, so other variables need to be taken account, and as far as these stats are concerned, Geremi wins the ball in the right places and does something effective with the ball, whereas the same can not be said about Nicky Butt. exactly! Love the way Nicky "can do no wrong" Butt gets treated like the messiah these days, when actually he can't pass a ball to save his life and that costs us possession every time. Geremi is actually capable of far more if he raised his game, but he's doing a lot better than Butt overall and far better than some people have been making out.

Did Allardyce actually do an interview on SSN? (The title of the OP) I must have missed it. I put it on when the thread went up but saw nothing in the next 15 minutes and couldn't be bothered to keep watching.

There are plenty of big name managers that would come if the transfer budget was big enough Such as? Bearing in mind they only have 13 games to get it right? That's the whole point that a lot of people are failing to understand. Any other manager worth having will have CHOICES. Why on earth would they choose a club like ours which has not won anything in years - and are beginning to get a terrible reputation for not giving their managers time to sort things out. Any manager worth their salt will not choose us they will choose a club where they can get time and patience from the fans and have more chance of winning stuff.

why do you ask? We beat Leicester and then drew with West Ham, but I'm not sure what it proves further than I've already said which was to answer your question. We also finished 11th the following season, when he had 3 transfer windows (jan/summer/jan) to improve things, but still we gave him more time, and it paid dividends in the 3rd season.

I actually think that if Ashley could get what he believes is a better manager, then he just would anyway, since Allardyce isn't his appointment. If he could attract a world class manager then he just would without even firing Sam first. At the moment I don't think we can because it is seen as an impossible job, mid table club, but you never know Ashley might have a surprise then it won't matter what we think anyway. What you say about having a football person on the board is true though. I think Mort mentioned he was going to get "more management in" whatever that means, but I think there is another thread somewhere about telling them what you want to suggest. It is a good point.
