  1. Llambiarse is just trying to be fair to Joe, considering the circumstances, and everyone concerned is being non-commital till we get out of this mess. He will not be managing us next season, but he will not be sacked either. That's what I think anyway. He will probably be moved into a scouting role or similar.

His exact words were, "He needs to concentrate on making a full recovery before his return in the summer as our manager." which he will be, when Shearers contract runs out, and then they will probably all agree that he should be moved into another role. This is probably why Llambiarse disappeared so he did not have to answer questions about it.

  2. Enough with stand-ins, just make the permanent appointment for God's sake. How hard can it be?

    this

We just need a manager, not JFK, not Venables, but a real fucking manager.  Preferably one who has some fucking clue about coaching teams to do more than defend.

    and this.

  3. I think the Halls and Shepherd would have pushed the club forward again, because they backed their managers.

How would they have done it? By borrowing more money? From who? We had already spent the sponsorship money, and Northern Rock itself was no longer in a position to help.  We were in debt, losing money and their appointment Allardyce was not taking the club forward. There was no money left to back the managers with. So how would they have done it?

Anyway, I agree with the above comment they are history, and there is no point to keep going over the past. But they were given a lot longer to get it right, and in the latter part definately did not.

  4. As the owner of this website I am sure they would at least consider it.

Only I don't own the site and never really did either.

Oh, I thought you did or jointly did set it up anyway, sorry.

    Who does then?

How HTT, have you put your open letter out to any of the papers or even NUSC? Must be worth a shot.

Nah, far too lazy for that and to be honest it would need an editor to hack away at it as it is quite long and unreadable in parts.

Well, ask people on here to sort it out to something readable then. It only needs tweaking... why be so negative?

  5. I don't think Martinez would join us unless we were already safe. Why would he take the risk of being relegated? Maybe at the end of the season, but right now he is a rising star, why would he want it extinguished?

Come on woman man. We're shit as fuck but he'd still drop Swansea like Xisco to come here.

I don't know for sure that he would. I would like to think that he would but I am not convinced - the threat of relegation is very real this season. There is an outside chance we could swap places with Swansea. He is worth an approach though, definately.

  7. Are there any direct quotes regarding Hyypia from Kinnear?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/7864071.stm

"I have spent most of the last two days trying to get finance and players," said the 62-year-old Kinnear.

"I tried for one centre-half, but got knocked back. Liverpool weren't prepared to let Hyypia out."

St James' Park is set for a busy 24 hours before transfer deadline, with keeper Shay Given having a medical at Manchester City and Charles N'Zogbia set for a switch to Wigan, with Latics full-back Ryan Taylor possibly moving the other way.

"I will start working on finances and players now right up until midnight and then tomorrow. Fingers crossed we can get all four deals done," said Kinnear.

    606: DEBATE

do you think we will get 2 signings in by tomorrow or will we get no-one?

    Pablo Diego

"I want to get somebody with experience because of the position we are in. We have a very young back four and I just want somebody who is a good organiser."

  8. To be fair to the club, they deserve credit if they get Nolan, Taylor and maybe one more.

Add that to the last lot of signings and it would suggest that they at least know where our problems lie... unlike our previous skill of signing players in positions we don't need and ignoring the problem areas.

Well, not entirely, because we still do not have cover at left back. Would not be so important if Insomnia would play there when needed without whining as much, but there we go. No news on loaning Riise? That seemed like a good move. I am glad they are attempting to address some of the issues but January is always a difficult time for transfers anyway.

  9. It's a great theory, but can you imagine him still being here after finishing 17th one season when most on here call for a managers head after losing one game?

    :nope: not a chance.

Not unless the owner does not care about being popular with the fans and just sticks with a manager they believe in. Looks like we need this kind of manager like Moyes who can manage on a shoestring and steadily improve until such time that the club is in a healthier financial position. This could take a few years and would take patience that I do not believe our fans have got enough of. Most fans of most clubs are the same now, but some owners are prepared to take the wrath of the fans for the short term, while quietly building for the longer term.

  10. Apologies to catmag, toonlass and toon amy, but it is that time of year when non-football fans have regular football forced onto their TV screens and inevitably say something stupid. What are your experiences?

While I was watching Turkey vs Portugal:

Female housemate: Ronaldo doesn't deserve to be doing well for Portugal.

    Me: Why?

Housemate: Because he doesn't play for them when Man Utd are playing.

It is extremely wrong for anyone not to like football, male or female. I think some women just act dumb on purpose mind. Especially some of my friends whenever football is mentioned.

What drives me mental though is when people go on about how much they don't like it. No ones forcing them to like it, are they?
