  1. Seen much of him mate? Yep. Excellent addition to our squad. Care to compile a short overview on his strengths and weaknesses? Pretty please. Ok, here's what I know. Twente used him as a sort of 12th man last season in their championship season, meaning he was not a starter in most of their matches, but was often brought on to consolidate a small lead into a secured win or to impose more dominance in their midfield. He is very highly though off, and Twente fans consider him a very important figure in their surprise succeeded championship challenge last season. As you would expect, he is a very physically imposing midfielder, who is stronger in the defensive tasks than in attack. Twente fans sometimes criticize his tendency to walk with the ball rather than play it around quickly, but seeing as he is so strong on the ball he still very rarely loses it without a foul being made on him. From what I've seen personally he is much better with the ball than our current crop, although he is not one for killer passes or scoring many goals. If we use him to his strengths, sitting in front of the defense and let him win the ball and lay it off to some of our more creative (!) players he will be a very good addition for us. He has the physical attributes and the talent to succeed in the Premiership, that's for sure.. Ta. Do you live out therer or summit? In the Netherlands aye.. Also, my brother in law is a Twente fan (lucky bastard this past year), so I know a little about how their fans see him.

  4. Dutch media NOS (like our BBC) report the transfer fee as 8 million euros.
  5. It's been reported by Dutch media as well, in particular Tubantia, the largest paper in the Twente region..
  6. He's very good in real life, which is more important I would say. Seriously, whenever I have seen Twente he has stood out as one of their best players. A very strong ball winner who does seem to be able to pass it around a little as well.

That's what has been reported, we could pay that and then send him back next year. cracking deal from our perspective......can see why they aren't too keen though can't you ? Can also see why we're not keen to commit to signing him based on survival alone regardless of how he does. Hopefully it'll settle down soon and they'll meet half way. Heh..? In an ideal world you are right of course, but that's not the way transfers normally work, is it? There is always risk involved for the buying party... I appreciate Mike is trying to be a little creative when it comes to making the best use of whatever little means we've got, but I don't think many selling clubs will want to co-operate with our "try before you buy" policy...

Again, you are saying two statements are contradicting where in reality they are not. He can go to Bremen as they have made an acceptable offer and are seemingly in negotiation with the player now or, if we up our bid, he could come to us. Nowt strange about that if you ask me.

The final straw for me was relegation, it should've been for everyone else too but people were willing to give him an easy ride when we were the best team in an inferior league. Missing out on HBA is bugger all in the grand scheme of big Ashley f*** ups, why people are only starting to get het up now I have no idea. Heh, weren't you defending him the last couple of days? No, I just find the suicidal nature of some people on here over this one deal a bit pathetic. He's done much worse things, many of which have already been excused or forgotten about. I think some people struggle to see the sun for the moon at times. I was shouting for his head on a stick the best part of 24 months ago, just because I can no longer be arsed to fly into a rage whenever we do something which can be mildly construed as typically Ashleylike doesn't mean I like the f***er. Well, you were quite critical about my supposedly negative stance regarding this transfer and Ashley's lack of decisive action, weren't you? Not sure you can classify me as one of those who can't see the sun for the moon at times as I was arguably one of the very first people on this board who expressed my cynicism about Ashley's objectives back in the day when nearly everybody was hailing our new saviour.

I don't know why I'm disappointed. I knew this would happen..

I think we've learnt so far to not to believe this Dassier fella. He changes his tune every day. Yesterday it would be sorted with 48 hours. Today, it's our fault because we haven't come back with a bid yet. I smell bullshit. As if the one rules out the other..
  14. It is if you want to win anything of note in the next millenium. It shouldn't be that way, but it appears so..
  15. I though Perch had been signed as a utility player? If he had, you'd think he'd have got a shot elsewhere in pre-season. I know Simpson's injured atm but Perch isn't the only other player in the squad who can claim to know the RB position - yet that's the only position he's featured. (Bar CB maybe?) He played LB second half against Rangers, didn't he, when we gave Jose a rest? Pretty sure we got him as he could provide cover for a number of positions, and we plan to play Simpson as our primary right back.. Not that I care too much either way, as all our RB options are much of muchness, but I would go with Raylor above Perch, based on what I've seen of Perch so far and more importantly Raylor's ability to put in a decent cross or set piece, which very little of our other players seem capable off...
  16. Oh shit, the Dutch commenators are going on about our 12 point lead now..
  17. One you'd expect him to make though. He should have been much closer to both goals. f*** off man, no chance with either. Could have done better for the first tbh.. No chance for the second..
