  1. What did he say? "Bless em, they battle, it's like a lion versus a kitten so I've told the lads to take their teeth out tonight." Seriously? Hope we batter them now...
  2. Certainly looking like it. What with him reconsigning the need for both stability and progression thus providing the funds to not only keep us in the league, but build a good team that will over time achieve success while remaining financially stable. Exactly. I was being sarcastic man. Ashley has done none of that. Living on cloud cuckoo land... Has he like? Evidently..
  3. and avoiding injuries, two more knacked today already Oh, and goal difference..

I'm not totally disregarding that, hence why I draw the line at the point where it seriously endangers the existence of the football club. You are right, the first priority is to keep the club alive. I am not certain how withholding investment and seriously risking another, possibly fatal relegation (and that's not even mentioning alienating the fans who are the life and blood of this club) for a short term financial gain is contributing to that top priority though..

So am I, but not for the same reason. The people saying we don't really know what's going on money wise are partly right of course, as are those who are doing some guesswork and concluding there must be money available. For me, the money side is largely irrelevant. From my point of view, the fans of this club should have a different interest than the owner. What good is it to us if we balance the books so Ashley can walk away with a tidy profit in a few years time? As far as I am concerned I think the fans should demand that the club aspires to be the best it possibly can. We pay out huge amounts of money on season tickets, drinks and food at the matches, fan shop articles etcetera. We do so (from a business point of view) because we enjoy the products that NUFC offers. This club has a huge following (read: turnover) because in recent past it offered a top notch product. In recent years, the quality of the product on offer has gone down substantially, but we have remained loyal. It is in NUFC's interest to make sure it remains so, and for that (like in every other company) investments are needed. I don't particularly care how they do it, or if a certain player cost the club 1 million or 20 million, as long as the club continues to offer quality in return for our personal investment. The internal balancing of the books is important, but ultimately largely irrelevant for the fans (bar going to the point of risking the very existence of the club). The bottom line is the people in charge of this club need to consider themselves "caretakers" of the club, and their success should be measured by how much they take us forward (or not), not how much profit they manage to squeeze out of us over the years of their tenure (which coincidentally I don't object to them doing; they should be rewarded if they take us forward. They shouldn't be when they fail to do so however imho). If Ashley didn't understand this when he bought us then he has no business being a Premiership football club owner. Football is a highly emotional "business" proposition, and managing a football club does not have much semblance to managing a sport article shop. Regardless of the money involved, Ashley has a moral duty to make sure we don't go backwards after he has just been bailed out by Hughton's excellent work last season. If he can't muster that, it will be another nail in his coffin in a growing chain of foolish decisions since he has taken us over. This off-season he had the opportunity to turn around the tide and get in a more favourable position with the fans than he has been for a while. I will be baffled if he doesn't take that chance purely for short term personal financial gain.

Ah right... That's definitely good news for us then, much like a one year trial and if all parties are happy to carry on after that than there is that possibility. I would applaud Ashley & co for once if that came off.

Real quotes!!!! Weren't you on over the weekend? Take a look at the OP. This one is new isn't it..? Ben Arfa said: “Newcastle have committed themselves to give Marseille what they were asking for, which is a loan with an option to buy me.” Mind, don't know where they got that quote from..?
  9. He looks like a UPS delivery man who could turn serial killer in the blink of an eye. Come on Kasper, make it happen!

Hmmm, can see some mileage in that story. Huntelaar is on a road to nowhere at Milan, and OM is after a striker desperately. Hope this does not materialise.. ben arfa wouldn't fit in the milan team tbh Why not? Could be the understudy to an aging Ronaldinho..? Don't think he'd go from sitting on the bench at Marseille to sitting on the bench at Milan tbh. Isn't that wishful thinking though..? Milan is a massive club and I don't think he will say no to the chance of joining them in favour of playing week in week out with the likes of Nolan and Smith. He may not play every week, but he would play with world class players and everybody knows Milan are in need of rejuvenation, so he should get plenty of opportunity to prove what he can do..

Pissed off yes... To effectively go on strike? I don't think he is within his rights on that one..

Not really.. I think he is looking after the interest of l'OM, not NUFC's, in the way you would expect him to tbh... That would be fair comment if we hadn't agreed a deal which he renegade on. The agent himself has said they set conditions which we met, only for them to turn around and change the conditions. Like we did with Milner a couple of seasons ago? What has that got to do with anything? The difference in that deal was that we actually cancelled that deal as we wanted to keep the player, we didn't just up the price. Like we did with Dyer? There we go, at least that example is actually an example. Mind you I don't know where I've said that we are some angelic club that would never do this to anyone. My point is, they are being cocks and have got themselves into this mess, blaming us is stupid. As for 'Unbelievable's point. I'm sure quotes attributed to his agent say that Deschamps told him to find a new club. Boo f***ing boo.. The fact remains, if we want him, we still have to negotiate a deal that is acceptable to them, wouldn't you agree? They're not blaming this on us btw..

Oh, that too.. We can cry wolf about the OM chairman all we want, the fact remains no deal had been agreed up to the point where it is legally binding. We have gone back on deals in the past, and we certainly cannot expect other clubs to just go against their interest to benefit ours. The situation is still very much in our favour IYAM. All we have to do is put in a reasonable offer that is acceptable to the club that holds his registration. Or wait for another club to come in and steal the deal away from under our noses..

They have decided they can't afford to let him go, but if they have to (and it looks that way) they want rid permanently and to bring in a replacement. Wouldn't you?

Interesting interview. He finds HBA's attitude in this whole affair unacceptable and unprofessional and he makes a big mistake. He has only spoken to him for 40 seconds last week when they met, and HBA left without even listening to what he had to say. He defends the right of the club and in particular Didier Deschamps, to change its mind, as he admits the club has done, because of developments in other transfers (offer to Niang to good to refuse in last year of contract; if they had opposed the situation would have been worse than HBA's) that couldn't have been foreseen. He basically says they have not spoken to HBA since then and wish to speak to him to work together towards a solution that is satisfactory for both parties. He indicates our offer is nowhere near acceptable for l'OM, and accuses us of trying to take advantage of the situation. He also explains that the relationship between HBA and Deschamps is not good at the moment, but he doesn't feel the problem cannot be resolved if they start communicating. He pleads for a return to reasonable and civilised communication in order to find a solution, whatever it may be. Interestingly, the interview then moves onto the Fabiano transfer, and he complains that everything was sorted between the clubs before, but the goal posts have moved and they are being held to ransom..
