  1. You'd have both Gerrard and Lampard in the world's best XI midfield ahead of the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Sneijder, Ronaldo, Kaka, Essien, Pirlo, Ribery, Robben, etc etc? In reality, you'd be lucky if most people globally included one or two English players in their World XI, and even then it's mainly due because the Premiership is one of the most televised/popular leagues in the world. If the England players have the same warped view of their own ability that goes a long way towards explaining why they aren't performing to the level the English public expect them to... he did say "all but" the very best teams tbf to ronaldo. Fair enough, didn't read that..

  3. Real Madrid What the hell has Real Madrid done to Kaka? Same thing they do to all their players: they degress
  4. Not a long ball reaches its target with this diabolical Jubilani. Disgraceful...
  5. on group form paraguay would be the more testing opponent True, true, but I know who I'd rather face..
  6. Dear me, I now hope the Italians score even though I hate them as otherwise Holland may well face them in the next round instead of Paraguay...
  7. What a shity celebration as well. Hope NZ go on to win this..
  8. Fucking Italian dive.. Typical..
  9. They deserved the lead too. Looks a good team, Paraguay does..
  10. Robert Huth. Hmm of Boro and Stoke fame though. How about Podolski? Only plays well for the national team and the first German player to miss a penalty for 20 years or summat. Ozil?
  11. That would have been good..... France have been rather like the pompous arrogant Dutch players of the late 80s and 90s Thought they only had to turn up, no discipline, no respect for their coach, swaggering pack of dipsticks. Took them years to get their act back together. Huh? I guess he means the squads in the 90's that were rumoured to be split between whites/surinam That was 1996. In the 80's we were almost non existant until 1988 where we won the Euro Cup. 1990 was a bad tournament (last 16, lost to winner Germany), 1992 was ok (reached SF, lost to winner Denmark), 1994 was ok (reached QF, lost to winner Brazil), 1996 ok (QF lost to France) and 1998 was great (semis vs Brazil). I don't think you can say these Dutch teams self destructed the way the French are doing now, although 1990 and 1996 could have been better, but show me a nation that couldn't have done better. I personally think this track record is very respectable for a nation the size of Holland.

  13. More @ http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2010/8750168.stm/ Christ, that's desperate stuff. Doesn't mean they're behind him at all, just that he's been told to say they are. You're just being negative now.. Just realistic. Well it's true. If you have to come out and publicly say you back the manager, there's a problem. Not when it is preceded by dozens of articles in the national papers suggesting there is a problem. Cause and effect. From an outsider's perspective, it almost looks like you are trying to self destruct in this World Cup, and the media and fans are actually enjoying it when they have something to complain about. Can people not to a reasonable extent support the team and evaluate the performance after the tournament is over? Seems like a shit storm is being created out of nothing and before you know it the situation is out of control and nobody trusts nobody anymore. Classic example of shooting yourselves in the foot.
  14. Regarding boredom, I don't think there is one player at the world cup who likes not being with his family and spending their days between matches playing card games and PS3. All the players from every nation suffer from it, and tis will not be the first tournament where England players are bored, so hardly an excuse for underperforming.

  16. Hopefully Mr. 6 Points And Already Qualified is right! Ironically we've not played much better than you. We've been lucky with dodgy ball goals in both our matches. If you just start keeping the ball down and play with a bit more urgency to get some shots at goal, you will be alright.
  17. Ah right, sorry. I thought we'd just played 90 minutes where we were shown up by a poor Algerian side and arguably outplayed for chunks of the game... There is every chance we won't qualify. We should beat Slovenia, yes, but we should have beaten the Yanks and my word we should have beaten Algeria, so I'm not going into the game with much confidence. I'll still be cheering them on as loud as ever, though. When push comes to shove, and in a must win game, England will beat Slovenia, of that I am sure. It won't be pretty, and it will be nail biting stuff, but I just can't see you lose that one with the quality you have throughout the squad.
  18. I think the problem with having Heskey on is it is just inviting you to play the long ball to him too much rather than play a pass and move type of football. This problem is compounded by the fact this fucking Jabulani ball is completely unpredictable in the air, leading to overhit long balls more often than not. You need to change your game to adapt to the circumstances at this World Cup, and go with players who provide more technical ability and movement. I feel sorry for Heskey in a way; even though he hasn't played badly and has delivered what you might expect from him as a player, this is not what the team currently needs, so he has to be dropped despite the fact he has played to his ability where other players have not hit anywhere near their potential level.
  19. Everybody stop panicking please. There is no way you are not qualifying from this group, no way. After that, anything can happen. You've not made a great start to the tournament, but you have every chance to do well still...
