  1. Can I refresh your memory about your dismissive attitude towards FOOTBALL INTELLIGENCE & ask you similar questions about confidence, does a player need to confident to run with a football a feet? To kick a ball towards goal? I think if you go back to the very start of this thread you would of seen I said Oba should play. I am really not fussed who plays as long as we win. Hope that clears it up for you. So tell me, why is Owen not scoring like a madman at the moment? He's quality, supposedly, yet he somehow manages to mis sitters my sister would put away.. Might have something to do with confidence, no? Wait, don't take it from me, take it from the man himself:
  2. Fair enough.. People seem to be trodding around the same old cliches about our best players though, and I'm sick of it. We don't have any players that would walk into the Man U squad, fair enough, but if we ever want to get back to the top half of the table we'd be well advised to support our best players rather than picking on their perceived weaknesses and saying they're not good enough in the long run.. Who do you think will take us to the level where these players will fall by the wayside..?! I mean, realistically..
  3. Two of the worst strikers of long range shot at the club tbf but at least they are willing to shoot while others look for a pass. They will score the odd blockbuster due to the number long range hit & hopes they do. Total and utter rubbish and you know it.. They're no Pedro Mendes' of course, but I would be interested who you think would be more effective from outside of the box in our squad. I can only think of Emre and maybe Milner who aren't bad, nowhere near the majority of our squad as you claim.. They are poor at long range shots the fact they are in a small elite group willing to take on long range shots should not hide the fact. Nonsense.. Are you suggesting Smith would be more effective from long range if only he tried? Same for Butt (who does try and looks more like a rugby player from long range)? Taylor? Duff? Geremi? Enrique? Beye? Carr? Etc? If what you say is correct then why hasn't Allardyce/Keegan demanded they take a chance from long range more often, considering they're all good at it (well, better than passing the ball around at least, we don't seem able to keep more than 10 seconds of possession nowadays)..? No its not, see mrmojorisin75 post above. I am not suggesting anything but you are assuming a lot. You are not suggesting anything and I am the one assuming a lot..?! Let me remind you of what you said: Are you not suggesting (or stating as fact more like) that the majority of our players would be more effective from long range than Zog and Martins?! I ask you again: who are these players, because we'd better tell them to start shooting..?
  4. Like his goal against Boro iirc. His shooting is getting worse & his freekick taking atm is joke. Right. What is your point? Zog and Martins are confidence players who can offer us something that other players can't on their day. They are not as consistent as we would like, but realistically if they would be they wouldn't be here anymore would they? Fact remains they offer us a goal thread? Would you rather we played consistent shit football, or took a chance on players who can provide moments of excitement and allow us to pick up the results that allow us to stay up?

  7. I think it's Martins' footballing intelligence that people are questioning. We've got to try something different up front. Last season, Martins did quite well with Dyer behind him, and he looks a better bet at the head of a 4-5-1 than Owen did yesterday. But if we do play him, we've got to have someone who can link him with the rest of the midfield, which isn't Owen's kind of role. It's all about combinations. I get a bit worried when people start pinning their hopes on one particular individual, as though they could do things on their own. Zoggy is the other popular candidate for saviour, but it's about getting the whole team functioning better. Although I am pinning my hopes on our best equipped individuals, I agree to some extent. It also helps not playing certain individuals whose only contribution seems to be to give the ball away at every opportunity or play it backwards for the defenders to lose possession by hoofing it back up the pitch. It's all about getting the right players out and making them gell..
  8. You also concluded that he won't be good enough for us in the long term, which I find amazing considering he came from a bigger club than us where he had done alright and has been one of our only bright sparks in the one and a half season he has been with us. Not saying he's top drawer (although he may be with time and the right climate to develop), but if he's not good enough I fear you may be stuck in 2002. We are now a lower table Premiership club, and we need all the class we have out on the pitch.
  9. Oh, and that volleyed lob yesterday was a sign of a footballer without a football brain? Not many players (none in our squad besides Martins and Zog) have the ability to execute it, but there was more to it than that. He saw no player of his team was in a better position and the goalkeeper was a little far out, so decided to go for it. It was instinctive, but indicative of a striker's brain imho.. I'd be interested to know which players have said footballing brain anyway, because they're not creating anything even remotely looking like a chance with it..
  10. I find this sort of reply amazing. You must be watching a different type of game to me. How can you say a young lad who has come from another league and has needed to adapt yet still was our top scorer last season by a country mile can not be the answer long-term. I'm not saying he will ve, but I think he definetly can be if he develops in the right way. I don't buy all this intelligence crap too. Some of the best footballers around have been verging on being thick as pig s*** ffs. It's football, not a contest of intelligence. Martins' game is instinctive and not everything he does will pay of, but as het gets older and stronger a higher percentage may, and his unpredictability means he will always be a thread to the opposition's defence, which is something that can't be said for any of our other strikers at the moment unfortunately. Why don't we just give him a chance to see what he can do. He's shown he's up to it before, and other players have got their chance and shown they're not capable to drag us out of the hole we're now stuck in. They are partly responsible for it you could even argue. Obviously I meant a football brain. I can't believe I had to explain that in all honesty. What is a football brain? Can't remember I ever had to study a football brain in biology class.. On a more serious note, can you not see that there are plenty of very good footballer around who don't have Zidane's vision?

  12. Just shut the fuck up and leave, you cunt..
  13. Keegan certainly got a warm welcome from the playing staff. Have to wonder what goes on in his head..
  14. Smith and Butt combining to great effect in midfield to pass the ball back to Taylor when a forward is very near to him. Can these two even contemplate thinking forward ffs..
  15. He's not shit. He would be a real asset to a genuine football team. Probably our only Premiership forward..
  16. From 40 yards! Michael Owen can't even hit a ball hard enough from 40 yards out to make it cross the line..
  17. Will Keegan make it to the end of the season..? At this rate I think he might well not...
  18. Cannot believe people are actually blaming him for that goal. And Gerrard's a fcking diving c***. Enrique has been cut to pieces all game. He should have dealt with that ball for the goal a hell of a lot better than he did, yes it was unlucky but I dont know what the hell he was thinking. Well, he was obviously trying to put it ut for a throw in instead of a corner. In hindsight it would have been better to just put it behind, but you don't have the benefit of hindsight in that split second, do you?
  19. KK selection policy is as bad as anything i've seen at NUFC. Agreed. Didn't a wise man once say idiocy is to do the same thing over and over again and expecting different results..? Einstein defined insanity that way, not idiocy. Insanity it is then.. Not much better is it?

  21. Luque tried to kick the ball out of play, rebounds of Pennant and freakily drops over the head of Harper.. Haha, Luque still getting the blame for our woes! Oh oops.. Might go the same way though..
