  1. I don’t see it. Malacia is well ahead of him, and so (sadly) is Blind.
  2. From what I’ve seen of him in the NL national team he works that wide role in a back three really well, like a right-sided Ake, with Van Dijk acting as the rock in the middle. De Ligt hasn’t really progressed in his time at Juventus, so I’d have the current back three over either him or De Vrij in this system. I think going forward is an option for both Virgil’s or Ake’s position if Koeman persists with a back three.
  3. Aye, I noticed that. Important to remember Ten Hag was at Ajax when Botman left them for Lille. I suspect he may have come to regret that decision, and it looked indeed like Ten Hag complimented Botman for a very good game.
  4. As it stands De Ligt is not a starter either. It looks like VG wants to play with a back 3/5, with Ake - Virgil- Timmer first choice. De Vrij is probably even a more probable stand in atm than De Ligt. If Botman is going to displace anyone soon it’s either De Vrij or De Ligt, unless Koeman has other ideas such as going back to a back four with Ake as left back.
  5. He should be, but alas he’s not. Van Gaal doesn’t seem to rate him for whatever reason, and he’s also not the type to take kindly to Botman refusing to show up for some under 21 friendlies. We’re quite well-stocked at CB though, so I guess Sven will have to hope Koeman sees the evident potential when he takes over after the WC.
  6. Liverpool have gone full WWE here
  7. How is Thiago not off for that?
  8. Of course it is. Liverpool splunked 35m on Carroll, hardly utilised him and brought in Suarez, Salah and co to fire them up the league. The likes of Liverpool and Man U have outspent the likes of us for decades and replaced managers and players who didn’t work out for them with ease, picking the best players and managers of less fortunate clubs like us. Now the tables are reversed (with Man City, not even us yet) they cry foul. It’s pathetic.
  9. Owner’s wealth <> club wealth though. The suggestion that Liverpool cannot compete with Newcastle United is ridiculous at this point in time, wouldn’t you agree?
  10. Klopp would have never become Liverpool manager if they didn’t have the ability to outspend many other clubs in the word.
  11. What’s odd about his comment is that we haven’t even started to throw our (owner’s) weight around. Most of what has happened, perhaps with the exception of the Isak fee, is just that we’re now operating as a well run club with ambitions. It’s something any new owner could have done, and even something Ashley could have done if he was arsed about building us up rather than leaching on us. It’s clear some of the top six are bricking themselves. Look at the momentum we have after one year of being run as a proper football club - we’re already a force to be reckoned with even before our owners really start flexing their muscles.
  12. Yeah man, how cool is this: So basically, the bloke just stays in his crib while the females come by every morning for wild intercourse, where they spiral around and change colour. After intercourse the bloke kicks her out and after a few months she gets replaced. Sounds pretty cool to me.
  13. “Was thinking of doing the peroxide look myself; I quite like it on Bruno; he’s a special person with special hair”
  14. He probably is. Bloke is unhinged. His patter about Max Verstappen is almost as bad as about NUFC. Thoroughly loath the guy, massive piece of scum.
  15. What does “everything else” entail though? I presume the club’s name and strip are even more sacred for the traditionalists, and rightly so. That leaves selling the advertising hording and shirt sponsorship for more than we’re currently getting, but we’re so far removed from the other big clubs in terms of commercial income that those wouldn’t see us compete on an even level with the likes of Chelsea, Man U and Man City anytime soon I imagine. Unless the owners find a way to bypass FFP somehow, for example by selling Dummett to some Saudi club for 500m, how do you suggest they bridge the gap? The avenue used by Chelsea and Man City, unlimited spending until you get it right, has effectively been closed now.
  16. 25m a year is roughly a 25% increase of our income, is it not? We can’t expect the owners to keep shelling out their personal wealth to subsidise out rise up the pyramid. FFP won’t even allow them to even if they were willing to.
