  1. We need another point or Fulham not to win their remaining four games. We’re safe.
  2. Why do we always start our matches so badly?
  3. Sure, but you still have the FA governing the whole of English football no?
  4. In the case of the Italian rule it applies to friendly games and tournaments as well apparently.
  5. Not sure. Decision was taken by Serie A, B and C members apparently, approved by national league and ratified by Uefa and Fifa. I see no reason why English football couldn’t do the same
  6. Serie A has adopted a new rule that means any club entering a competition not approved by Uefa, Fifa and FIGC loses its Serie A membership. If PL and La Liga follow suit at least that should put an end to any chance of them trying again.
  7. The big six have really done a good job this week showcasing they are way above the other 14 peasants in the league and deserving of special treatment to be guaranteed their place in the super league like
  8. I wouldn't be so sure. In that interview Perez says they will write a 180m loss for the current season yet still hints heavily at bringing in Mbappe and/or Haaland. They will just go on and on until someone stops them.
  9. It makes me sick. Maybe it's time that UEFA mandate a budget cap similar to what FIA has done for F1? The top F1 teams have had to bring their expense level down from 400m/year to around 170m/year, which should hopefully allow much closer competition in years to come as the advantage of the big teams dissipates. The big clubs in football obviously couldn't raise the income (in a sustainable manner) to match their expense level even before COVID and their finances cannot deal with a year where income suffers for whatever reason (a pandemic, financial crisis, not qualifying for Europe or being relegated through bad management), so the solution quite clearly isn't to allow them to put this death spiral further into overdrive, but to cut it back a few notches and even up the playing field through legislation or regulation.
  10. Exactly. How they dare speak of "saving football" when they've completely tilted the power balance to many clubs in smaller leagues through irresponsible lending spanning decades and now need to freeze the situation to avoid financial failure if they drop the ball on a sporting level is absolutely reprehensible. They've completely lost track of the fact that football is sport first and foremost. Clubs rise and fall all the time and here they are attempting to limit the growth potential of future challengers. It's criminal behaviour this, it really is. From his interview it's clear he's not understood at all why his SL has failed and they will just try again and again. Lock him up for anti competitive conspiracy.
  11. @theMadridZone 9h | Florentino Perez: "People say this isn't about football merit, but it's wrong. Those 15 clubs earned it on the pitch, they've been winning trophies for the last 20 years. How can you say they haven't earned it?" #rmalive | Florentino Perez: "Always the same 15 teams in the Super League? Well Real Madrid, Atletico and Barcelona always enter the European competitions. The same happens with the Serie A clubs.'' #rmalive | Florentino Perez: "It's impossible to make signings like Mbappé and Haaland without the Super League." #rmalive | Florentino Perez: "Not just for us, there will be NO big signings this summer, for ANY club, without the Super League." #rmalive | Journalist: "So it's over, you're not signing Mbappé? -Florentino Perez: "That's not what I said. That's for next season. Right now we're working on this season." | Florentino Perez: "We are heading towards a €180 million loss this season." #rmalive | Florentino Perez: "I know Mbappe. I know everybody and I'm friends with everybody.'' #rmalive | Florentino Perez: "When I took over, Madrid could not pay its players. We changed the world with the Galactico signings. Now after COVID-19, things have to change again." #rmalive | Florentino Perez: "Change the Real Madrid squad? We have the best players in the world.'' #rmalive This entitled fucker needs to be taken down a few pegs. What he and other presidents of these clubs have done is snap up all the best players mortgaging the club, and now they want to pull up the draw bridge to the rest of football to keep doing what they have been doing for the past two decades and to pay the rent on their massive debts because they risk going under. Fuck them I say.
  12. Aye, but that’s the very reason why they wanted it in the first place. They know full well they’re up to their eyeballs in debt which can only be serviced if they are guaranteed the income related to competing at the top level. Since history has shown time and time again that these things ebb and flow and that there is absolutely no guarantee that they won’t be where Schalke is now a few years and a few bad decisions down the line, they thought they’d use their current power and influence to basically ensure they couldn’t be “caught offside” ever again, at the expense of others who might deserve their place in the future. The EU needs to come down like a ton of bricks on Perez, Agnelli and all the others who conspired to set up what basically amounts to an industrial cartel. The anti competition commissioners normally isn’t shy to dish out hundreds of million or even billion euro fines to tech companies that try to do similar. They need to do the same here.
  13. Perez' urgency meeting must have gone really well. Oh to have been a fly on the wall for that Zoom call
  14. All 6 English clubs out within a few hours then... Aye, the remaining clubs and the PL will have made it clear this afternoon they would be expelled if they didn't pull out before the end of the day.
  15. Rats surprised at rats eating other rats. Lovely
  16. Wow. I presume "we" refers to the Liverpool squad and not PL captains, but surely a big blow for their American owners.
  17. Wasn't there supposed to be a two stage meeting between the PL clubs today, first with the remaining 14 and later with all 20. Could be the 14 made it abundantly clear that they would support any proposal to expel any club that would not have pulled out at the time of voting or something of that ilk. For so many clubs to reconsider their stance within the space of a few hours there must have been a significant event triggering it all, and I doubt there wouldn't be interest from broadcasters or sponsors.
  18. The pace at which it's unfolding makes me wonder if the PL and La Liga have threatened their "founding" clubs that decision making was already in progress for them to be booted out of their respective leagues. Such an amazing volte face can only be the result of a realistic chance of armmagedon for those involved.
  19. Agnelli gone. They’re dropping like flies.
