What I'm saying is Mbemba will need time to settle in under the guidance of a more experienced partner who can compensate a little bit for his deficiencies and help him get to grips with the toughest, most unforgiving football league a young defender could play in. Some make it sound like he will be the rock thay Colo can latch on to give him a new lease of life.

The fact that some are saying that playing alongside a 20 year old (ha) defender who is new to this country and to this league may give Colo a new lease of life after having been obviously past his best for the past three years tells me everything I need to know about how awful this decision is.

Think that's a myth tbh, the whole caring and fighting bollocks anyway. Just think we haven't been good enough for a long time and an easy cop out is they don't care or up for it, when in reality IMO anyway is that they just haven't been good enough fullstop. This unfortunately, and that doesn't just go for the playing squad sadly.

Not wanting to seem overly critical of this signing as I like that the club take a gamble if it does not deter from making the signings that are desperately needed, but the reason you gave is that he is a 19 year old who has played 60 odd games at the lower level of the prodfesional football pyramid, correct? Is that in itself really such an accomplishment? I don't follow football at that level closely, but I suspect there will be dozens if not hundreds of under 20's playing regularly at that sort of level? As I said, Carr must have seen something he liked, so let's hope we'll get to see it to. All I'm suggesting is based on his record this doesn't appear to be a signing to get overly excited about.

I am questioning the sanity of anybody hailing this as a great piece of business (I know it's Kaka and he's a bit special ). A one in five record in the fourth tier. I'm sure Carr must have seen something he liked, and I hope we get to see it too. But I will not be holding my breath, especially considering our record of bringing through youth players.

I'd rather they had a dawning realisation about the defence tbh, the likes of Colback and Anita should never play together but as over part of a decent midfield they're far from the problem. Anita especially. We'll never be an above average team until that defence is sorted out like. The problem with the defence is that we can't shift what we have. If we had half decent offers for Colo & Williamson that would save £4-5m a year in wages and i'm certain we would buy a new CB or two. The problem is we are paying for 4 senior CB's and 1 more as back-up. for once, it's understandeable that we can't make an addition without selling first. We are walking into a similar situation in central midfield. Colback, Tiote & Anita all must have some time on their contracts and from what i've seen - none are solid top half PL midfielders. This is the problem with giving every fucker 6 year deals. The decent ones are gone within 2 or 3 years leaving you with the not so good ones. What a model. We are well and truly showing everybody how it's done.

There in lies your problem. Aye, and Newcastle United ruining them will not exactly help our cause. Luuk de Jong has returned and within a few months he was back to looking like an actual football player.

These are largely second choice internationals of a nation that will in all probability fail to qualify for the next Euros and World Cup you are talking about
