  1. Cock and bull tbh. Most will stay because he won't be able to bring much else in.

Wrong - most will stay because nobody will take them off our hands, or the players won't take the step down in wages...

Besides which, it's not like we've ever sold players without replacing them...

  2. Fair enough. I would pick you up on one thing though, if you are giving Shearer credit for last seasons fightback (of sorts), you should also do the same for recent cup winner Craig.

Did we ever get an adequate explanation for Craig's... leaving us? I remember the rumour being a falling out re Bernard but I have the memory of a goldfish, so...?

Lee Clark was seen as the cheaper option.

No other rational way to explain it.

Hmmm... But Clark was already on the books - and then Roeder went out and got Pearson, which surely cost a pretty penny in wages and some sort of fee to WBA?

  4. Roed: We'll get European spotApr 1 2007

"I love football and the business, and I accept that responsibility. If you only want to get patted on the back, don't become a manager."

So fucking accept some of that responsibility damnit!!!

    Examples might be:

    "I erred in Holland"

"My team selection against Man City may have been too negative"

"I can totally understand the fans frustration when my tactics and substitutions turn out to be wrong"

"Making Scott Parker club captain was a mistake"

    Etc

  5.

Stuart Pearce thinks that he can do two jobs at once. Stuart Pearce thinks that Georgios Samaras is a winger. Stuart Pearce thinks Nicky Weaver is a better goalie than Andreas Isaksson. Stuart Pearce thinks the way to beat Blackburn is to use the same system we played when they mullered us. If he thinks you can get sucked into it, I'd be sleeping a little easier. Cos he is thick. :uglystupid2:

That's a ringing endorsement of your gaffer there!

That being said, we could play the same game with some pearls of Glenn Roeder wisdon too

I read the quotes Parky mentioned, and Roeder's response was that relegation "has not crossed my mind". Well sir, may I advise you to look at the table, the fixture lists, and the DVD's of our previous few games, take the time to consider the possibility and then plot a course to avoid it?

  6. I'd love us to sign an up and coming manager from somewhere in Europe. Someone bold who dares to "rest" the big names and doesn't feel like he has to blame anyone else and most importantly, wants the team to play football!

That's all well and good, but there's also the small matter of fitting the right man into our club... For instance 12 months ago your description would have fitted Paul Le Guen, but who'd have him now?

  7. Curse you for getting people's hopes up!

Of course, if he did resign it wouldn't be "sensational" at all - it would almost be "honourable"

  8.

According to Roeder no manager could of done better than he has this season.

Aye, the man has a firm grip on reality

What disturbs me is that he seems to have no realisation of our current predicament:

    (Stuart Pearce)

"At the moment for me, any three teams from eight could be relegated, and we are one of the eight."

Asked if Newcastle were one of the right sides still needed to secure their Barclays Premiership place, Pearce replied: 'They are one of the eight - we are a point behind them.

However, Newcastle boss Roeder bristled at the suggestion he should be looking over his shoulder.

He said: "It has not crossed my mind. I never talk about other teams, Stuart talks for himself."

Never crossed your mind, eh Glenn? I'm sure it never crossed your mind that Birmingham could smack us in January, or that playing for a goalless draw in Holland was a suicide pact, or that losing at home to Man City (and all the rest) was possible either...

  9. come back to me when we get relegated because we didn't sack Roeder right this minute

what you're basically saying is it's ok to act like a complete mong because we have just been beaten. You really think any of these retards will change their opinion in a few days?

No, what I'm saying is that after that shite result people have every right to be hurting, that calling for Roeder's head might not be a kneejerk reaction, but the accumulation of evidence that he is ill-suited to managing this club.

  10. can we have a rule that every numpty saying we are going to get relegated gets banned for the entire next season when we don't go down?

Can we also have a rule the prohibits trolling after a home defeat to an inferior team?

If you pull your usual routine after this result you're going to piss a lot of people off - but that's the point, right?

  11. Well, Moore said he wanted to come home quite some time ago - and in the thread I posted in January ( http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=35358.0 ) the manager trying to sign him in Australia hinted very strongly that Moore was holding out for another contract.

And as I said re Bramble and Onyewu, if I was Moore I would feel I have every chance of staying another year - but I know this goes against popular opinion, thus why I ended my last post with "But I guess our fearless leader will reveal all at the end of the season..."

  12. Well they might not be but given the two (Gooch and Bramble) are supposed to be playing for contracts and a player who is definitely off at the end of the season has been selected before them doesn't look good for either.

See, I don't believe Moore is "definitely off" at all - I've had this beliefe for quite some time and recent developments re Bramble and Onyewu have strengthened this belief. But I guess our fearless leader will reveal all at the end of the season...

  13. Not really, just on my logic Roeder would rather play someone who is definitely off at the end of the season than the fella he has to have a look at and decide whether or not he is good enough to sign. Think Roeder has sign enough and his non selection is a clear sign unless he is carrying a knock. Think Bramble is definitely bye bye...

So you would say that Moore, Bramble and Onyewu are all off at the end of the season? As depressing as it sounds, the thought of that scares me a little - can Roeder be trusted to bring in at least three adequate replacements? Plus the other signings necessary ie left back, right back, centre midfield, striker...?

  14.

Anyway given todays selection I think Roeder has made up his mind, both will go.

By that logic Moore might stay...? Do I get to say "I told you so" if that's the case? ;)

Just thought I'd provide an update.. It seems everyone on this board except me is convinced Moore is going back to Australia - I'm equally convinced he is not coming back (even if he doesn't stay at NUFC)

From today's Courier Mail - media whore/Queensland coach Frank Farina's column:

...The recruiting drive continues, as do discussions with members of our playing squad.

I'm still in contact with Craig Moore about his plans for next season, but he's still a young man and is definitely good enough for a few more years overseas.

Hopefully one day we'll have him at the Roar, but whether it's next season remains unknown...

I'm of the opinion that Moore is hanging out for another contract with NUFC, and if that doesn't happen I reckon he's more likely to end up in one of the "retirement leagues" of the Middle East hoping for one last payday. Coming back home to Australia, contrary to what he may have said earlier in the season, is his last choice in my opinion...

After all, does anyone think Roeder will allow three centre halves to leave in the summer?

  15. -----------------------Given---------------------------

    Solano------Taylor------Moore--------Edgar-----

    -------------------------Butt--------------------------

    Milner------------------Emre------------------N'Zogbia-

    -------------------Dyer-----------------------------------

    ------------------------------Martins-----------------------

Maybe I'm biased, maybe I genuinely think Moore is a better option than Gooch or Shambles - you decide ;)

  16. He doesn't have only one year left on his contract though.

    From the initial article:

But that is likely to change in the summer, with Brown unable to hold down a regular starting place with the Red Devils. The 27-year-old will only have one year left on his contract in June and is unlikely to sign a new one while he is in and out of the first team.

  17. wes brown was a very good prospect 5 or 6 years ago and always looks like he needs a leader alongside him.

lets check that injury record aswell.

yes sign him but not a penny more than £4mill(ish)

With only one year remaining on his contract he surely wouldn't cost that much!

  18. Would prefer Disitin who I reckon would cost less.

Ah, but our fearless leader has, for his own (obviously very good) reasons, ruled him out*

    * Of course, he ruled the Gooch out just days before signing him, so...

  19. Please no. He might be average alongside some quality centreback like Ferdinand but put him on there with Taylor or similar and it'll be completely crap

That's a danger - plus the other concerns such as injury record and fat pay cheque and our wonderful record of signing ex-"big four" players...

But on the plus side he's better than what we have, wouldn't cost a ridiculous fee and is (according to that article) eager to get back into the England scene - something he could only do at right back due to the less competition there.

On balance I'd take him, as long as we signed one significantly better centre half as well (and of course a left back, striker and centre midfielder! )
