I don't get it. Why are people quite so upset about this? It's just a temporary sign... ...he'll soon be gone from this club.

For me, it's as simple as this: you either have a situation where a player's conduct on the field of play is beyond the long arm of the law, and the only sanctions which should be applied when they commit a career-threatening foul on another player are disciplinary ones by the FA, or alternatively, you have a good, long, hard think about whether perhaps in certain instances what has actually happened on the field of play is a criminal assault occasioning grievous bodily harm. If you agree and accept that football is a contact sport, then you can rightly expect sometimes to see pretty gruesome injuries occur...and I guess you just have to shrug your shoulders, and say it's all part of the game, and that's the risk that the players accept when they take to the pitch on match days. However, if you do accept that point, then what right do you have to bleat on about someone from an opposing team having cynically knacked your star player?

Yeah, true, it could potentially ruin the game...but then I would argue that the conduct of the likes of De Jong and his cynical, dangerous style of "play" is putting the future of the game into just as much jeopardy. If Ben Arfa doesn't recover from this, we'll all have been deprived of watching a potentially great talent blossom in a way which would have brought flair and colour and passion to the game. Meanwhile, we all get to endure the turgid, reckless, soul-crushingly awful butchery of the likes of De Jong getting away with it, week after week.

Appreciate it's not a cut and dry sort of issue, mate...but honestly, when you see a repeat offender like De Jong getting paid f** knows how much a week to neutralise genuinely talented players by knacking them, it gets to be something a bit more than a disciplinary matter for the FA to deal with, in my opinion. When you have someone behaving like that, basically being a thug, it's bordering on criminality in my view, and needs to be dealt with as such...or at least in a way where the player in question realises that he doesn't have some sort of diplomatic immunity from the justice system whilst on the field of play.

Find it fascinating that some folk think violent assault on the field of play, when it's clearly intended to seriously injure or maim another player as has happened here with De Jong on Ben Arfa, shouldn't be dealt with as a crime.

Calderwood is going to be Hibs new manager anyway.

Set up an online petition to remove Calderwood from the club. He's a quisling in league with the Dutch Destroyer. Kill the infidel! Or at least sack him...

Yeah, right. Like that's gonna happen.

I'd much rather he suffered the ultimate pain of enduring personal ruin by wrongly being exposed as paedophile, and convicted of such in a colossal miscarriage of justice that saw him sent to prison where he would spend the rest of his days being anally raped by vicious gangs of German neo-Nazi gay thugs.

Just got in and found out about this. Agree with those who've said De Jong should be banned from the game. It's not like he's unknown for that sort of on the field conduct. Absolutely gutted for Hatem - poor lad.
  12. I think it's pointless predicting at this point in time. Too much else to settle down in the league yet. A lot of unexpected results all over the shop. Sure, it doesn't help if we're going to capitulate a half-time lead as we did today, but it's way too early to be saying we're too poor a team to stay up. I think today's result is good for one thing - it takes off the sheen of Wednesday's result at Stamford Bridge and brings us down to Earth with a bump. But that's exactly what we need. We need to keep it real. We're not world-beaters, but we're not shite either.
  13. Knew in my gut we would go on to lose this the moment I saw Rory Delap warming up. I think Baba said it best when he said we should have had advertising hoardings right around the pitch (possibly should even have put them nearer the line, tbh). Tactically naive of Hughton to replace Tiote with Ameobi, and I think this appearances clause in Ben Arfa's contract will prove to be our undoing, if as it seems, it's forcing Hughton to sub him earlier than he would otherwise wish to do. Disappointing performance by Perch, but the lad will surely go home and kick himself for that tonight, so maybe he can still get his act together and sort it out. We could and should have expected at half time to go on and get a second goal and have thereafter shut them out.
  14. Hasn't anyone noticed that virtually every other half-busy football forum is plastered with adverts? Fuck you and your high-minded principles. This place is a cash cow waiting to be milked, goddammit!
  15. Man, now I feel like a proper cunt. Worry about it later. I'll send a couple of the lads round in the Range Rover next week.
  16. Yeah I know...like train tickets, hotel rooms, matchday tickets...
  17. I'd much rather everyone paid £1 a month each to fund all the costs of running this place than have people freeloading on the back of others' donations.
  18. ok, money bags. How much do you spend on your broadband connection every month? You still gonna plead poverty?
  19. Just make this site a subscription only site and be done with it, ffs. Sell t-shirts, mugs and whatever else and just get it sorted.
