At the great risk of being the butt-end of everyone's jokes or rolleyes smilies - can anyone tell a non ST holder like myself what the Martins song is? eekout.gif Non season ticket holders don't DESERVE to know. Shitbag. bluesigh.gif

Never ceases to amuse me how people's opinion of a player changes the moment they score one single, solitary goal. Same people will be right on his back if he doesn't score a hat-trick vs Liverpool, no doubt.
  5. For me, it's the club generally. I suspect the quality of signings we made is quite a lot down to the prevailing uncertainty caused by: (a) Freddie Shepherd generally being an arse (b) Glenn Roeder having negligible "pull factor" for top quality players © Hints of possible takeovers meaning FFS & others not wanting to splash out too much (d) We're still feeling the Souness hangover (e) Our finances are pretty fucked, possibly... Or alternatively, it could just be down to the fact that we're not a glamorous club like we were a few years back.
  6. Petrov linked - NUFC.com! http://www.nufc.com/2006-07html/2006-06robrum.html Point each for me, melanchronic, sicko2ndbest, deathwish and Rons please!!!
  7. Leroy Lita is one who has been overlooked here as well... but I suppose Fred's had his fingers burnt when it comes to up and coming British talent (Cort) before...
  8. I hope nobody is seriously expecting us to get a like-for-like replacement for Shearer because (a) that just isn't going to happen! (b) Shearer's retirement needs to be seen as an opportunity to change the way we play and explore new methods, make the best of new player's different styles © Kuyt or whoever comes in will already feel the weight of expectation on their shoulders - they won't need the fans waiting for them to fail, they need the fans support - and there's no reason I can see why he/whoever comes in wouldn't get it.
  9. Bad cough? Yeah, got any medicine for it? Sorry, i've got cowt that would help you Sounds like you could do with some Cowt mixture

  11. Hope so but they only have 1 striker now in Crouch with Cisse on his way to Marseille apparently so they need to buy and there chairman always comes up with moeny for them. Did I miss Morientes retiring or moving on somewhere else? Well, I'm not sure he can really be classed as a Premiership striker! he went to Valencia for £3.5m (?). Jeez - like not knowing every little piece of transfer news is some sort of crime!

  15. Just been confirmed on SSN for 10.30am - that bloke's standing outside SJP in the cold again, saying how it's a popular choice with the fans, appointing Roeder - apparently you only have to look at the text comments section in the Ronny Gill to realise how popular this adopted Geordie boy is...no mention yet of contract term, but if anyone's thinking "babysitter" or "seat-warmer" I think you're probably right. Roeder's been hobbled for Shearer's return to management... blueno.gif
  16. Oh, now that IS a BAD case of sour grapes...still, at least we can count on his support to appoint Roeder...
  17. I will guarantee you it's Zaccheroni. The FA and Gibson knew about Mac's appointment from the moment the Scolari episode descended into farce...Zacch will be their man.
  18. Boro will get a top class manager - and they'll do it way before us. Guaranteed. Sunderland will get a new board and a credible manager with real ambition. Guaranteed. We will get more of the same old shit from Shepherd. Guaranteed. Makes you sick, doesn't it? Having been reasonably happy with the idea of Roeder (on the assumption he could be given either special dispensation or that he could get his licence reasonably quickly or have a qualified DOF alongside him) I'm rapidly changing my mind... If this latest rumour turns out to be fact - then we're fuct. Guaranteed. bluecry.gif EDIT: SHAKES HEAD AND REGAINS A BIT OF PERSPECTIVE - What the hell am I saying?!? Oh I'm so confused right now I don't know what to say and think - I guess whilst reconciled to Roeder carrying on, I just got carried away by the mention of Shearer in the dugout - I just so DO NOT want that to happen...sorry, there, I've said it now.

    Its Roeder

Being a Caretaker Manager is so much different to being a proper manager. The pressure will be on. He will have to do well, he has to get it right or he is out of a job. Trust me Glenn Roeder will be a completely different person and coach if he is hired full time and the football we play will be as well. Our current run is not a sign of things to come. Our current run is like that because the pressure isn't on Roeder, it doesn't matter if he succeeds or not so he can do things whatever way. To say that any professional in any sport doesnt feal pressure is wrong, most pressure comes from fans who loook to destroy you from day 1, Roeder was not my 1st choice but he will have my full support until he proves he doesnt deserve it and all fans should give him the same. Agree with Geordiebaz thumbup.gif - and in any case "the pressure" would be on for ANY new manager...especially with the fickle, incredibly hard-to-please section of the Toon Army that are already (ALREADY!!! mental.gif) one step away from calling for Roeder's head! Truly it is a poison chalice. If he takes it on, then as far as I'm concerned, he will automatically merit a mention in the Queen's Birthday honours "for valour in the face of ignorance in football".

    Its Roeder

This comment is not directed at anyone in particular but  I don't know what is going on with the fans who seem about ready to throw themselves off the Tyne Bridge because Roeder's maybe got the job. Honestly a lot of you guys would leave the best brains of the medical world in total confusion about how to treat you....It's either Ritalin for the ADHD (when you're up as high as a kite about beating Sunderland - (and by the way, WHO turned that game around with his half-time team talk?!)) or maybe it's Prozac your need for your manic depression (seen with the doom-merchants predicting relegation the instant that Roeder gets the job, e.g. "it'll all turn to shit" bluedead.gif) or possibly it's electro-convulsive therapy for those fans who are quiet frankly having delusions... If it turns out to be Roeder, then fine - but I'm honestly beginning to think the club's biggest problem is the influence of a section of the fans whose attitude seems to be "nobody's good enough - so no matter who it is, I'm going to bitch and moan about things"...

    Its Roeder

I cannot believe the hysterical over-reactions of some folk on this board today...I'm not gonna get upset if it's definitely Roeder taking over. We've had worse managers. Roeder is a former player, he knows the club inside out, he knows the fans, what they want, what they expect, and he certainly knows how to motivate the team, and he has worked wonders since he took over in February. In addition, he knows the youth squad, and I think that is a major benefit. Why is it so many people here never seem to realise that the answer to our problems may be right under our noses. To be honest, I think anyone not prepared to give Roeder a break and see how he goes next season - assuming this isn't just gossip. I'd never heard of Martin Jol before he went to Spurs, but look what he's achieved that Jacques Santini (a supposed big name right?) just couldn't... Souness was a big name, and a big something else as well, Dalglish was a big name, Gullit was a big name... but with Keegan, to be honest, we really took a bit of a punt didn't we? I shake my head in disbelief at some of my fellow fans sometimes, I really do... The only reservations I would have are (1) who would do the transfer dealings etc and (2) whether Shepherd going to sort out the backroom staff and get a proper DOF and medical staff in? If Roeder is the man chose, I think Houllier or possibly Sven should come in with him as DOF.
