Back on topic, I hope they don't rename Leazes and Gallowgate.

The Sir John Hall Stand and The Newcastle Brown Stand aaaaaaaaaaaages ago
Oh yeah, you'd think I'd have noticed.

That's not the point, James is a name, it is singular but happens to end in an s.
I'm annoyed by how much this annoys me now. Anyway, the club are incorrect in usage, but at one time used the apostrophe correctly, now I need a lie down (as I'm hungover)
There is more than one St. James
It is their park
therefore it is St. James' Park
Nonsense and you know it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_James
The fact there's been several men called James who have been canonised is irrelevant, The NUFC stadium does not refer to several people, as is shown by the fact that it used to be written as St James's Park.
how do you know it wasn't wrong in the first place?
Because I speak English.
-
It should be renamed The Uneducated Knee-jerking Twatfarm.

Just guessing, someone involved with printing tickets wasn't so clear on the rules of English either.
I apologise wholeheartedly for taking it that seriously, I have got into a heated row about the order of the actresses playing the eldest daughter in Roseanne before.

I'll repeat, in capitals
YOU ONLY DROP THE FUCKING FOLLOWING S IF IT BELONGS TO A FUCKING PLURAL. JAMES IS NOT CUNTING PLURAL.
Thank you.
-
So nobody else paid attention in school then?
James' is not correct, despite what the club says, I've already explained why. It's no wonder people believe we're all undereducated.
-
Abcdefg in alphabet controversy shocker.
I'm not bothered about a scoreboard, other than the opportunity to photograph it following a derby.
-
I would be ashamed of this, but the whole thread is speculative nonsense.
-
But you'd say it's Chris' pen would you not?
No, I wouldn't.
-
St James' surely? Or has my English totally gone to sh*t?
It has, the following s is only dropped for plurals.
-
If it were the park of Ken, it would be Ken's park, the fact that James ends in an s does not mean you miss out the s following the apostrophe.
I told you it bothered me.
-
It should be James's, James not being plural.
Yes it bothers me!
having the apostrophe after the s signifies its the park belonging to St James (whoever he is/was/wasn't)
Yes, I know, and James not being plural it requires a further s
St James's.

A big part of any manager's job is communication. Get over it Sam and do your job properly.
I have noticed since Sam has took over there seems to be a lack of communication from manager to fans.
I'd have been happy to hear nothing from the last two managers.
-
I couldn't care less if he talks bollocks to the BBC or not, manager interviews are rarely interesting. I like genial Harry Redknapp though, but I dare say he's not talking to them either.
-
Sky Sports News is just cheap TV and an advert for their main sports coverage, 'here's what you could be watching'.
-
If you can't get to a Newcastle game, I'm sure everyone like me tries to find some pub showing it even if it isn't on Sky, or some other dodgy way to watch it which I'm sure were not allowed to discuss, I watch other games just because they're there and I enjoy the game, except when it's shite. I'm guessing there were always dull games, rose-tinted specs for those games from the past you remember, a block on the shit ones.

I'm not keen on the 'good old days' of football in the 70s and 80s, violence and racism isn't my bag at all. As for the silly cash which rules the game today, an inevitable result of popularity in a capitalist world.
Murdoch is a c*** though, but that has nothing to do with football. I'm sure I had a point when I started typing.
-
Anyway, I doubt there's much cash in changing the name of somewhere which would continue to be called by its previous name anyway. It's not as old as St James's Park in that London, which is an actual park rather than a football stadium [/Mr Logic]

Some of you buggers must be low on friends if you treat everybody like you do on this website!
There's a subtle difference between the internet and real life
Nah I think it's decent really, and there's nothing wrong with being opinionated, but as a popular Newcastle site obviously people are going to critique some of what they say, they should take it as a compliment, people are reading it.

There used to be a scoreboard, though I forget when. Frankly if you're too pissed to remember the score then it probably doesn't matter. They could stick up the scorer, it's not always clear from the opposite end, and the PA is useless.
