Maybe it's a relic of the Ashley philosophy, but even at the time I thought players like Gayle and Ritchie were championship standard players and it all felt a bit short term. Ritchie Yedlin Gayle Hanley Murphy Sels Diame Hayden All very very good buys for a Championship team looking to get up, but I always felt we were a Prem club in the Championship and so maybe we could have bought with one eye on our return to the Prem in mind. Ritchie dropping down a division when he was already established at a good prem club showed that we did still have that pull. In my opinion we could have bought more players who would have been good enough for both the Prem and the Championsip, but instead, we went almost exclusively for players who were only good enough for the Championship. Pretty sure he had deals lined up and pretty much done for Townsend and loftus cheek on loan in the January only for Ashley to pull the plug. That was kind of the turning point in him being unhappy

That’s what the main concern is and has happened with every other rumoured takeover.

Surely a statement from either side has to come out before these checks which can take weeks.

They have removed the part about price not being agreed from the daily mail article

Are we right in thinking that it wouldn’t have gone to premier league checks if a price hasn’t been agreed ?

Got nothing to do with trust just look at the documentation submitted and signed by both parties. Never got anywhere near this stage and again read the tweet from @RedRoseMichelle as it sums it up pretty well what is actually happening. She is only guessing though at which stage it might be and what might be happening isn’t she ? An educated guess don’t get me wrong but still guess work It's a much more educated guess than that of Martin Samuel's. Yes I agree but the fact that Samuel is close to Ashley - or as close as any journalist is means his article leaves doubt on this thing because there is a chance it’s coming from Ashley despite this takeover seemingly being further forward than any others before it

Staveley is borrowing money from both the Reubens and Ashley because apparently she doesn't have the cash herself. Does the news out now not say she is loaning the £150 million from Ashley ?

Apologies if already asked/answered, but why would they be loaning money from Ashley with the supposed wealth between them?
