Senegal probably have most quality in this group player for player
-
Hate Kristian Jacks, he's an analyst on Canadian TV, he's English and an arrogant SOB, he's whining now that people are complaining about the VAR no use yesterday in the England game, "Be careful what you wish for, don't want VAR to interfere all the time". FFS, those are excatly the times you should be using VAR

Pekerman’s quite easily one of the better national team managers in world football. They’re also a man down, missing their best player, and are still the better team. Didn't look like it on the evidence of the shape of the team on the Japan goal, but will bow to your better understanding of him. Like I said they have talent but a lot of errors in them and I agree they've been way the better side. Not sure what the face is for, but he's getting cruicified here on Canadian TV, for the subs he made, not particuarily the Cuadrado sub but the others. Like I said, I've paid zero attention to colombia so if you say he's great, then so be it, not a great start to the world cup though for them.
-
Colombia can still qualify though, it's not the toughest of groups and they've got some quality. This will probably mean though they will struggle to win the group so if you want to avoid them in the r16, you probably want to finish 2nd in your group. Is it England's group that will face this one in the R16 ?

Damn keep missing Japan goals, I was a little late in switching it on and had to pop down to the basement when they got their second, perhaps for Japan's sake I should go somewhere else for the next 10 mins or so.
-
Got to get a shot off there.

Colombia look like they have a lot of individual talent, but there is a lot of errors in that team. Not sure how well coached they are, don't think they are a team that can go too deep in this world cup but you never know, they do have talent. Japan will go out at group stage if they don't improve in the second half, they need to win this game, will be psychologically a killer if they don't considering the circumstances.

Because of gravity probably most of the match, guess when he jumps to head a ball he's briefly off it, but I honestly have had a stop watch on it, sorry mate.
-
Rumbled on the slow mo replay, he even fumbled it before dragging it back. Cheeky bastard. With goal line technology there really is zero point in protesting. He's got to know that was well over. Bad mistake really because even though it was "clever", it wasn't hit with a lot of power and he got over there with more than enough time to keep it out.
-
Did he attempt that ? Or was it just a mishit. They deserve it tbf, been much better team despite the numerical disadvantage.

We've seen ourselves last season, what an important position it is to nail down in the modern game. Haven't seen much of the player, because frankly I barely watch any other league, but sounds like a solid acquisition. Cech been done now for a couple of seasons, needed an upgrade. Arsenal really moving fast this off season to fix a few holes.

It's the same shit everytime with our media, if we play shit and lose, it's a disaster and the world is falling apart, sack the manager. Then if we win suddenly we are world beaters, there is just no middle ground. Which is exactly where this win was, job done and move on to much tougher matches (except next one of course against Panama, which is another game we have no reason not to win).
-
The original point if you look back was to put some perspective on the quality of the opposition, which is not great. Then you have two mensas here who don't understand how player registration works.
-
Has anyone made the point yet that Hodgson will be tearing his hair out, Southgate should have been having Kane on corner duties, instead of popping up at the back stick to knock goals in.

Really .... Khazari is their captain, a division 3 player, the club don't want to keep. In the first half they defended like a pub team club, unfortunately our finishing was at the same level. He was on loan to a Ligue 1 side last season you know nowt. Like calling Thauvin a Championship player. Hehe so because he was on loan somewhere else last year doesn't make him a div3 player right now... Hmmm guess you and your pal there know something more than me. Even if we play by your rules. Their captain (and most notable name) played for the worst team in the PL for 1 and a half season, score 3 goals in 35 games, most of which were not from the start, hardly a regular in the worst team in our league. He’s not a Div 3 player you div. not even sure what you’re trying to argue here, it’s a weird point. Are you retarded or something ? He plays for a club in Div 3. They hold his registration, no one has bought him, he is a Sunderland player.... What part of this simple situation don't you get.. Damn the standard of education these days is terrible.

That's spot on. In terms of whining about it, that exactly the attitude you would want from the whole of our squad, if they are happy with the way we played in this game, we may as well go home right now. We've done the job, we should have done and it's time to move on to the next game, beat Panama, like they should and they are through, but Belgium are a class above what we played today and what we'll play in the next game, if we want to do well (and tbh, this squad form me should be aiming for a lot more than make r16 or 1/4 finals) we'll have to step it up a bit and above all else learn to finish our chances that don't fall to Mr Kane. It's a good way to start in all honestly, there's room for improvement.

Have you mixed up ligue 1 and league one? Last time I checked Sunderland were in Div 3... Did I miss something

For the 2nd penalty, the ref makes a sign to KAne or whomever that he dived, surely, surely VAR should be in there to confirm if that was the case, and it clearly wasn't. It's really worrying that teams like Tunisia will see the way this is reffed and know how to counter teams like England who are good at set pieces.

I was watching it a little tape delayed today because of child caring Anyway I'm kind of deflated by the whole thing. Tunisia are shocking, we really shouldn't be restorting to 90th minute salvage jobs to beat them. Having said that they did what they needed to do and it's no good peaking now, plenty of scope for improvement. The big loser for me though was VAR, after it being a big winner in the Sweeden Korea game, how you can give Tunisia's penalty, then not give the stonewall rugby tackles on Kane amazes me. The first half one I could understand if an argument is made for Stones pushing off in another incident, so that evened out the foul on Kane, but the second needed to be called. It sets a worrying precedent.
-
Typical England world cup, why did we ever expect anything else, Lingard misses again.
-
Lingard is fucking shit, does he practice his shooting at all
-
You can't give them a penalty for that, then not one at the other end for a rugby tackle, maybe Stones pushing off negated it for VAR.
