  1. “Stoke defend very, very well. They get their midfield in tight to their back four. And make it very difficult for you.

“We didn’t get the answer tonight.”

And asked what the answers actually were he went on: “We just need a little bit of something in that final area.“Somebody that will take someone on to beat someone to create the moment.

    This guy is just unbelievable.

You can just get a taste of how obsessed he is with defending even in that quote.

Purring over how tight their midfield was to their back four. It's exactly what he tries to do with us all the time, which is why anyone who plays upfront is on an island all the time.

  2. Think he's gone but there isn't a replacement in place hence the delay.

Hoping it's more a sacking during the break. That's generally when s*** goes down under Ashley.

Really hope it's a combination of both of these, and he's been adviced to look for someone in the meantime, and then bring them in during that break.

  3. Everyone is trying different formations this season. Even that ogre Allardyce, and yet Pardew still won't. He's busy working on defensive shape you see.

Why haven't we at least tried a diamond setup, especially as we don't really have any wingers? Cabella behind Riviere and Cisse/Perez, should have been given a go by now. Colback, Tiote and Sissoko as the midfield three, as we know he'd never drop Colback.

That setup would make far more sense than this nonsense we persist with.

  4. Former Newcastle United defender Steve Howey has said that he would be "disappointed" to see Alan Pardew lose his job as manager.

The Magpies boss has come under fire from the club's supporters following a poor start to the season, which continued with a 1-0 defeat at Stoke City on Monday evening.

Howey believes that the 53-year-old deserves the backing of the fans while he is still in charge.

"I'm one of these that think it is wrong to be asking for people to lose their jobs. At the moment Alan Pardew is the manager and we have to try and back him as best we can," Howey told talkSPORT.

"I can totally understand the fans' frustrations but, at the same time, if there is no news that comes out of Newcastle and Alan Pardew is still the manager, I feel as though, as fans, you should support the team.

"The results for a long time haven't been fantastic and it is a results-based business, but I would be disappointed to see him leave because I think, overall, he has done quite well."

Pardew was appointed Newcastle boss in 2010.

Steve Howey ... place of birth, Sunderland.

  5. Better movement and passing from the team in general and this guy will shine. Like the positions he gets the ball in, but he's not one to do it all out of nothing, not this early in his time here anyway. He'll come good.
