  1. With his contract about to run out, and if there's interest in January, maybe he's protecting himself in order to secure a move and a new longer term deal.

Pushing himself to feature for Newcastle at the minute and getting a major set back won't be in his best interests.

Not a great situation for us to be in.

  2. Some interesting names I've seen us linked with recently that are more in line with the better value deals we will need to start searching out, due to PSR.

Loic Bade (RCB) at Sevilla - recognised him as I watched Henry's France Olympic team, and I thought he looked a talent.

Yuri Alberto (ST) at Corinthians - never seen this guy play in an actual game, but the scouting reports have him down as a hard working pressing forward. Looks like he's scored well in Brazil of late and so is getting linked with clubs in Europe. Kind of value signing we could look at as a back up striker to replace Wilson if our scouts rate him.

Pretty much. Isn't this the reason we failed to sign him in the summer as part of the Minteh deal?

Yeah, it was mentioned he was looking for 100k, and that will be bumped up a bit as a free transfer I imagine.

DCL is the player that has most under performed his Xg over the last 2 seasons. All players with decent minutes. It's him.

He's certainly been really poor himself too.

I can kind of see why though. It's been a demoralising club to be at lately, and he's often the main threat with all the burden of scoring the goals. They don't really create consistent quality chances either.

Going to be quite interesting to see what happens with him when he leaves. I think he bounces back in the right environment.

  5. DCL is going to be looking for a big salary as a free transfer. I don't think we'll give him one as a backup striker, with our financial situation. Won't be at Newcastle I don't think.

If he picks his next club wisely, I think he's going to bounce back significantly from next season, and look more like the player he was under Carlo.

West Ham would be the way to go if I were advising him. Lots of dangerous players that create chances there.

Will not be too dissimilar to Wood looking much better at Forest.

The way he’s come on so far this season has been so good to see, I personally had doubts about him defensively whenever he played last season and expected him to not be starting games yet. The talent was clearly there but I saw him need more time.

Hes becoming the new Trippier but on the left, it’s huge for us. Impressive stuff.

Same. Was far from convinced defensively. Especially against moire dynamic and direct wingers.

His performance against Madueke had me sold though. Noticed he defended with a lot more savvy in that game.

Didn't get too tight or dive in all the time, but at the same time didn't just back off all the way into the box either. Had a very nice balance and timed his close downs well.

He is picking things up defensively and has improved a lot.

He's barely played in ages, especially in that position. Needs a run of games in the centre now. Obviously Burn will be coming straight back in though.

Yeah, even when he joined us, I think it was off the back of an injury at Bournemouth at the end of last season.

Imagine being able to spend 120m + wages on a flop, and still have massive spending power in future windows..

    Absolutely disgusting man.

I know we say this every match but this dude's first time passing is something else.

I like it in that deeper position too. Adds a bit more urgency to the build up from the back.

Tonali as the 6, Bruno right of the midfield three, Gordon RW, and the Joes on the left might be our best team at the moment. Barnes supersub.

    I'm all for it

Have always really liked Joelinton on that left side. He combines with the overlapping full back and the central midfielder on his side better than anyone in the team.

He played for a bit on the right today before Tino came on. Wish it had been for a bit longer. Be interesting to see if he can recreate those sort of combinations on that side too if it becomes apparent that Gordon has to go back onto the left side in your suggested lineup.

  11. Been a while since we saw Bruno playing with so much freedom and looking to make things happen in the final third, and I loved it.

Really think he could be the creative force this team often needs with the role switch.

Glad Howe gave it a go today, and the result looked so promising.

Osula showing a bit why he should have been given more than 9 seconds at the weekend.

Just his energy and enthusiasm mixed in with his physicality is enough to ask questions of defenders. Got some technicality too.

Needs to be trusted with more time when we are chasing things.

  13. After being teased with the Tonali and Bruno switch today it will so disappointing if we don't see it again going forward.

Looks a much more interesting dynamic. Bruno is so much more dangerous in forward areas, and would make so much more happen for our attacks.

Tonali has looked good in the deeper position too. Eddie please.
