Kaka, it's a 5 yard pass to the side. It's bog standard. I love Murphy, but I aint blowing smoke up his arse for being able to play that pass brother.

You've never kicked a ball have you?

Would also add that last night must have been special for Graeme Jones.

I know for some reason quite a few on here don't like him but he's clearly an integral part of the coaching staff and he must have loved last night.

He was even singing along to Hey Jude during the lap at the end

    Why don't people like Jones?

That stint he had when he first came in and Bruce was using his diamond formation kept us from being relegated.

Think he's a valuable piece of the staff. Has a lot of really good experience from his time with Martinez and Belgium too

Aye Murphy did it last night actually in our attacking third, passed it straight to them and they went up and countered.

    Yeah, exactly.

Murphy typically messes that up, so it was nice to see him get that so right.

Kaka I appreciate your enthusiasm to give our players some lovin' but its a simple 5 yard pass to the side.

The pass allows Schar to hit the ball in stride perfectly.

Do you know how often players over hit simple passes like that or play that behind the player ... this is so disappointing from you.

    Blocked.

    Amazing.

Can we please give Murphy some love for the setup?

Plays the ball perfectly out in front of Schar for him to strike it.

You can really see it in the replay from behind.

Don't think his potential is being wasted. We saw his performance at the WC he can turn it on.

Quietly - the last 4 years are as long as Ronaldinho's peak. He just doesn't have a CL to show for it and nobody rates Ligue 1.

At this point he's pretty much just an international footballer. The PSG thing is a complete farce.

As good as he is when he turns it on for France, I can't help but wonder if he'd be even better if he was in a healthier club environment, where he was actually being pushed and challenged to be more.

Have to say Mbappe was awful.

I honestly hate to be that guy. But his body language was so bad. Add to that no work rate. It's an ugly sight.

He's just being enabled at PSG and pretty much rules the roost, and so he isn't really being pushed or challenged by anyone there.

Not looking like we'll ever really get to see his full potential, because as good as he has been at times, the real excitement was what he could have ultimately become as he was still so young.

    Oh well ...

Just got in. I’m feeling some emotions. For those 4 lads to score, in that kind of atmosphere. It just makes me fucking smile man. Not only did we beat them, we put this fucking city back on the map. At times the celebrations were unlike anything I’ve seen at SJP. Lads getting launched rows for the first goal. I’ve only experienced that at the odd away game or in the cup semi final vs Chelsea when Rob Lee scored.

Wor flags, what another amazing show. Those lads deserve a lifetime of free drinks.

What a beautiful brilliant celebration of this wonderful football club, this wonderful city, my home.

Wor flags are just too good man.

Looked amazing on TV. Live must be absolutely nuts.

Just back home from the match and what a truly special occasion that was. Atmosphere was absolutely incredible and a performance to match. Each player was brilliant, don’t think anything will top that night in a long time.

Genuinely don't think I could handle watching a game like that live!

    Must have been incredible.

Love that he got our first CL goal in twenty odd year.

Grafted his nads off and did well, although for the 10-15 mins after he scored he must have give the ball away about 5 times

I noticed that too. I think he was so charged up from scoring that goal he couldn't calm down, and just needed a bit of time!

Was a great finish and he was his typical grafting self all night.

Loved how happy he was when he scored.

No denying he worked exceptionally hard tonight.  I got some stick in the match thread for saying he was poor at HT. Still don't think he had a great game but played his part well considering he saw very little of the ball in meaningful areas.

I'm not convinced he's 100% fit, maybe it's not that, just something seems off about him last 2/3 games. Perhaps he's just out of form.

Yeah, I saw your post. I understood what you were referring to.

He did have moments where he was loose with the ball for sure, and should have released the ball a bit sooner, as they were closing on him quickly when he got on the ball.

Loved his energy and desire all night though, even when things weren't necessarily going perfect for him.

The shot he got off and in target was incredibly important too.

Was happy with him. Solid night.

  12. Not good enough for Steve Bruce though.

What an absolute disgrace of a manager man.

Thank God no other team was smart enough to come in for him during that time.

Latest was he's still recovering at the club, but as a free agent after his contract expired in the summer. He got a bad injury in the new year on loan.

Ah, okay. Hope he can get something going somewhere once he recovers fully.

    They're 5th in Ligue 1. Think he's just shite.

Yeah, not looking good for him.

Not sure he knows what to do with the PSG players, as I'm not sure the players there are suitable for his typical style of play.

This really doesn't feel like what actually happened

    Thought the exact same thing.

Most of their possession was in areas that were not as dangerous, and we were mostly allowing it when we dropped off selectively.

Even then that 73% still seems high from what I watched. Really strange.

  16. Coming along nicely. A gentle simmer going now.

Lot better defensively. Better understanding with the players around him.

Loved the ball straight back to Bruno to cross for Burn.

So much more to come in time.

  17. Yeah, this guy was different levels tonight. Unreal.

Was delighted as soon as I saw they weren't paying him any special attention.

You cannot do that with him. He will destroy you.

  18. Probably my favourite Longstaff game.

Did all of his typical unglamorous work, but was great with the ball too and made another great run in the box and backed himself to go for goal this time.

    Brilliant tonight.

  19. This guy man ...

Deserves all of this so much.

Quietly and humbly accepted losing his place and was just in the background continuing to work on his game.

Reaping the benefits now man. Incredible for him.

His workrate is unreal like. He tracks back to cover and help Burn so much. Makes it hard to get behind us.

Having him and Miggy do that so well all game is so valuable man.

Can't be another duo like them in that regard.

  21. This guy is so good man.

    Impossible energy levels and drive.

So good in build up play and keeps possession really well.

Still so much room to keep growing too.

That £40 million is looking a really good deal.
