  1. Kenwyne's obviously asked them to find him a playmate while he is injured.
  2. I would say Newcastle was a step up from Deportiva at the moment though. They might be in Europe but still ... I think playing for Newcastle in the premier league is more of an attraction than playing for Depor in la liga at the moment.
  3. I think the article said that Burdisso was our alternative if we are unable to land Coloccini. I think Coloccini's agent knows this, which is why he is so nervous. I am also struggling to understand why some people feel that £8/£9 million is paying way over the odds??? He is a gritty Argentine International defender, who seems like he could adapt to the premier league very well indeed. Someone mentioned Curtis Davies of Villa costing £10 million and rightly so as he isn't even anywhere near a full international place. How about Kaboul!!! £8 million they paid for him, and he is set to be sold for a similar amount this summer. Tbh even if we paid the extra Depor want it would still be a good deal, but it really is the principle of the whole thing. It's disgusting to raise the price like that at the last minute, having already agreed to the deal in the first place.
  4. On the other hand, fair play to Fulham. Hodgson seems to be a lot better in the market than the previous guy who bought the whole Northern Ireland team.
  5. Mario Gomez to Fulham!!! Wasn't some nitwit on here laughing at us when we were linked with him and claiming he would never consider an insignificant club like Newcastle. Top scorer in Germany, going to be top scorer at Euros ya da ya da ya da ... etc etc. Fulham?! Bloody hell man!
  6. Are you drunk? We have signed the new Rob Lee for £2 million and signed an Argentine web slinging international midfielder for around the same amount also. They've been quality.
  7. I am, looked ok against Doncaster but it's difficult to tell but I trust KK's judgement. Yup, at the end of the day Keegan has worked with him for a week and seen him in a full game, so I am very comfortable with the decision. Also seems to be a very athletic and versatile defender, which is very useful. We do lack a younger defender who is strong and athletic at the club, so it's a solid move.
  8. Not a huge signing but pretty exciting. I think it is very promising that after a weeks trial and an appearance in an actual game that Keegan wants to sign him up. French Under 21 international and 70 odd appearnces for his club at just 21 years old. There must be some talent there.
  9. Surely this Depor guy must have some feeling in him ... Maybe a video of Steven Taylor's "performance" against Man U should be sent over. Surely this guy will take pity on us then?
  10. god no, pay them the extra anything but senderos If the agent knows about our other targets, then maybe it is the other Argentine Burdisso perhaps.
  11. Rest assured guys. If this has been dragging on for over three months now, then I'm sure we'll have other options to quickly turn to if this doesn't come through. The Depor chairman really is a pain in the backside.
  12. £9 million is an outstanding offer. They need the money and the agent has said this is the absolute best offer he could get for Coloccini, seems like the president just has to get his head around the fact that Freddy doesn't live here anymore. Hopefully, it should happen soon enough.
  13. So I take it Gerrard will play out wide this season (on the left) then, as appears to be the case with England under Capello also. I don't think would be looking to move out left as he has made the England Squad as a very effective defensive midfielder int he centre of the park.
  14. Hopefully everything finally kicks into gear this week. So Liverpool have signed Keane for £18 million. Hmmmm ... Gareth Barry might have to start backtracking pronto. Anyone else think it came down to either Barry or Keane for Liverpool. Not sure they would go after both. I think if they had got Barry they would have gone with Barry and Mascherano in midfield and gerrard continuing behind Torres. However, now they will likely opt to return Gerrard to midfield beside Mascherano and have Keane play upfront with Torres.
  15. Well keegan did manage Distin for a while so he might see that in the young lad. Assuming we get Colccini and we have him in the first team with Faye, then Taylor as a third CB and this fella as a fourth wouldn't be a bad idea I don't think. also pretty handy that he can cover at LB if necessary. David Edgar appears to be talented but I'm not sure if he is up to it physically. Maybe we are looking for another stronger more athletic youngster to bring through.
  16. The thing is though, we have apparently already agreed terms on a 4 year deal with the player. Not sure if Depor are in a position financially to give him a new contract that would match our offer. "Apparently" Yeah, I know ... the agent does seem to be making a real push to get the player to Newcastle though, so I'm hoping it's because we have already found agreement on a nice deal for him and his client. Guess we'll see soon enough.

  18. I'm as nervous about Spurs as the next man, and I can't stand them, but would they really pay £8 milion for a 26 year old Argentine international on sizeable wages who they couldn't promise a regular starting spot. As of right now both Woodgate and King appear to be fit so I'm thinking they would bring in someone a bit younger and cheaper who wouldn't be as high profile to be their 3rd centre back.
  19. Put some Barry White on in the background and we are sorted.
  20. But I thought the buy out thingy had to be done a few days after the season ended. Not really sure if that is the case, but some of the Colccini articles claim that his agent threatened to invoke the rule, so it seems it can still be done.
  21. Jonas was eligible to buy out his contract and move to a foreign club. Coloccini is also eligible to do the same. Also, it appears that Baptista is too, as he signed with Real on the 25th of July 2005, so as of the 25th of July 2008 he has been at Real for three years and is under 28 years old, and so is also eligible to buy out his contract and join a foreign club. Intersting little strategy we have going here ... nice little prompt we can use when encouraging clubs to accept our offers. Expecting Baptista to sign as soon as we can find a scrap heap for Alan Smith and Shola Ameobi.
  22. Apparently we had a number of people watching the south america qualifiers for the world cup this summer, which were on at the same time as the Euros. So far we have signed Jonas and hopefully, Coloccini, both of whom were involved. Did baptista feature in any of the games for Brazil? If so maybe that rumour has a bit more to it too. Another interesting thing is this new rule of players being able to buy out there contracts and move for free after a certain number of years. Jonas qualified for this and Colccini also qualifies for this and it puts their clubs under considerable pressure to sell. Has Baptista been at Real for up to three years yet? And does he fall under the same conditions?
