    Can Mount play 8?

    In a midfield three yeah.

A lot of 10s are increasingly being used as a third 8 in a 4-3-3 that is tasked with unlocking defences and/or scoring goals. Odegaard at Arsenal for example. Or even the way De Bruyne is used there now, and David Silva was also his final years at Man City too etc.

I think the only way ASM goes is if we sign someone like Zaha on a free. We need someone who can run at a defence when we can’t get behind them. I really hope he stays as he offers such threat and I’d hate to play against him.  But he is constantly carrying an injury.  Say 40-50 million in and replaced with Zaha keeps that sort of attacking threat and allows further investment else were.  Even typing this I’m in two minds whether it would be a good idea.  I do love ASM when he’s flying.

Zaha has hit 30 and has had a long injury lay off this season. I imagine he's going to start being even more injury prone as he ages further, especially playing in Howe's sort of pressing system.

I'd guess a winger will be high on our list of priorities this summer.

If expect ASM and Gordon to be fighting for that spot in our strongest eleven. Nice pair of options IMO.

Joelinton or Willock can play there too.

Murphy seems an ideal fifth man to me. Can go out and do a reasonable job starting if needed and is clearly valued as a sub to go on and help see out a game.

I'd expect the addition to be a left footed player who plays on the right. Diaby probably the ideal signing but there'll be other options out there if he's out if reach. New man and Almiron first two choices for the spot. Gordon could come over and play that side in a pinch but I think in an ideal world we'll have inverted wingers.

Agree on Murphy. Well worth having him as a fifth winger that can play either side, particularly because ASM is so injury prone, and there will be more games to play next season.

Also with you on the left footer for the right side to be another option outside of Almiron. Apparently we're high on Nico Williams from Bilbao who fits the mould, and would have brought him in if the Gordon move didn't materialise in January.

Just checked, 353 mins total for Man City, only 65 mins of those in the premier league. Disastrous move on a footballing level for him

Guy could have been starring at almost any other team in the league coming off last season.

Instead he is serving as a home grown quota at Man City.

"Maybe this is Manchester City's year at last"

Fucking hell, they make me want to vomit my fucking legs up.

Bunch of folks like Man City though and want them to keep taking the piss out of everyone. Personally, it makes me sick too.

That's exactly the sort of signing you, and us, need to be steering well fucking clear of in the summer.

Smells of Everton, in normal years.

There was a rumour a month or so back that they were going to offer him to us as part of the fee for Guimaraes, the cheeky gits

I don't want to make it about Newcastle but I've noticed alot of sides struggle with our fitness in the second half of games. I think that's what's happening here. Bayern are dead on their feet, where as City still have loads in the tank.

City are now just picking them off.

I agree. Similar would always happen to PSG.

Consequence of not being challenged nearly often enough in their domestic leagues I imagine.

Maybe. I'm sure he's not concerned what other peoples' predictions for him were, mind. Or what anyone gains from someone else's predictions anyway.

That's fine. Ultimately it's ended up badly for him and by all accounts he was miserable all season with the situation.

Lost count of the number of PSG games I watched where they were pummeling teams in Ligue 1 and the guy stayed rooted to the bench. Ridiculous situation.

They had a change of strategy last summer.  I think the failure is more Ekitike’s own fault if he doesn’t have the parience to learn and wait behind the best forwards in the world who are aging (Messi, Neymar) or looking to move away (Mbappe).

I think the issue is with the strategy at that mess of a club.

Dont think anyone said it'd be "better", more that it was "understandable".

He obviously expected more game time, I think that's clear. The fact he hasnt had it will be disappointing clearly, but maybe its his fault. Maybe its not, I dont watch PSG to know.

You cant knock his ambition, but it hasnt worked out this year. Doubt it's going to have cost him much career wise. He'll get a move somewhere and from the confidence I have in our scouting he'll be good.

Borussia Dortmund wanted him to come in to replace Haaland. That would have been the ambitious move.

PSG have not brought through any young players in yonks. They are more concerned with throwing money all over the place.

On top of that he had Messi, Neymar and Mbappe ahead of him. As most predicted it has ended poorly for him. Terrible move.

I dont see us singing more than 1 wide player. That'd give us new singing, Gordon, Maxi and Miggy. Murphy will stay to be 5th choice for there I think.

Pedro is a striker option that can play out wide, we will need another option upfront with Wilson's injury record and the amount of games we will have to play.

Think we're definitely going to get another left footer for that right side too.

Doesn't mean it didn't make sense despite how it ended. Isak's career stalled at Dortmund despite them apparently making any youngster a superstar.

PSG are a galactico club that get rid of their own top young talent. It was a silly move considering the year he had just had and the clubs that were interested in him aside from us even. It's panned out exactly as expected.

You'd imagine we'd only be after 1 front 3 forward, and that being a wider forward. So it'd be one of Ekitike if he's even a consideration, Maddison or Pedro. Unless we're also looking at Maddison covering more than 1 position. But if we're after a Ugarte type we'd probably not be after more forward CM. Ekitike was also considered a 2 position player from what I read pre PSG move. Primarily a RF but also able to cover CF.

GK, LB, CB, DCM, WF I think will be what we're looking for.

We'll sign a young forward that can play elsewhere like Pedro or Ekitike and we'll sign a left footed wide man to provide competition for Almiron.
