Rafa may be having difficulty finding a job because I think he has a reputation now for not getting on with club owners, and that doesn't just mean Ashley.

That's not necessarily fair, but I think that's what's around.

Ultimately he proved to be right about the Liverpool bunch and then proved to be right about Mike Ashley.

Seems to me that Mike Ashley has since poisoned his name about the place. I always hear the likes of Simon Jordan spouting nonsense about him being a trouble maker, I wonder who on Earth he heard that from other than his pal Mike Ashley.

Why ask for a one year extension?

And how much money did he ask for for this one year extension. Any idea?

I already told you why he asked for a one year extension.

Don't even bother trying to insinuate he was asking for too much for that one year extension either.

This shit is truly pathetic man. Urgh.

Look at the money he spent for the time he was here. It was a decent amount and he could've done much better if he used players better and bought better.

Let's look at his final season with us and see what players he had at his disposal.

We had some decent players at the time which weren't properly used in my opinion.

Not to mention Mike Ashley wasn't even giving him any money to spend. Are you sure you it wasn't a different club you were following ?

    This guy man

Lets see the names of these players then

Obviously as a club we did need to spend better but bear in mind we bought a lot of championship players at the top end of the scale to do a job and it worked.

Back in the premier league Rafa bought in some decent players but not enough but he also didn't get the best out of a lot which I think he could've definitely done, Miggy being one.

But as I said earlier, Ashley has to take his share of the blame but so does Rafa.

I think it's pretty clear you either weren't really following the club at the time or you just weren't paying attention to what was going on. Reads like you're just making stuff up as you go along.

  6. Like the look of Boro though. Carrick's decision to drop Chuba Akpom a bit deeper was truly genius. Been hit and miss today, but really like him in that role, and his goal scoring record has been tremendous this season.

Because interest from Spurs could force us to pay his release clause, which could affect how much we can spend on others.

The suggestions are that if we finish in the Champions League and maybe even just European places in general, that we are willing to pay that release clause for him.

At just 21 years of age and already at the level he is at, that outlay will likely be considered justifiable.

Sporting had been trying to get him to sign a new contract to take out the clause, but his reps have made it clear he isn't going to do that due to the interest in him.

    How did he work wonders?

He was offered a new contract but he wanted 6 million a year, unless that's not correct.

He then chose to go to a Chinese club with a pretence that it was just the project he needed when it was plain to see it was the silly money on offer.

I have zero time for him.

No it is not correct. It's amazing that you are so critical of him without even knowing what went down.

Mike Ashley after messing him about most of his time here over signings, tried to strong arm him into an 8 year deal, which he understandably didn't want to commit to. He suggested and was ready to sign a one year extension for the meantime, which Ashley refused. His contract was up and so he then left.

We all have our opinions and I respect yours but I simply did not enjoy his time at Newcastle and I was genuinely happy to see him leave.

I'm not too sure about what you mean in him contacting Staveley.

It was through his Liverpool connections that he apparently brought Staveley to the table regarding buying Newcastle the first time around in 2017 and Staveley followed up from there again with the current PIF bunch later on after Mike Ashley threw a tantrum and pulled the plug on that first deal.

Do you not worry about Tielemans athleticism especially if he’s asked to play the 6 role?

Id sign him personally to complete the set of the Anderlecht 3 after Mitro and Mbemba from when I worked over there a bit.

I think it would work. Mostly because of how well Howe managed to make it work when Shelvey played there with Joelinton and Bruno at the 8 positions.

  11. I was just reading back on Rafa's comments on what happened and apparently Ashley wanted him to commit to an 8 year contract, sound familiar

Rafa said he wasn't keen because he wasn't happy with them not letting him make decisions on transfers, and so he wanted to sign a one year extension to see how things went, and Ashley then refused.

In what way would Rafa at Wolves be ‘scary’? [emoji38]

Because they are able to attract some really decent players and considering some of the success Nuno had with them, I think a manager like Rafa, who is better than Nuno, would have them right up there around the European places.

I love Rafa but it shows how his stock has fallen that he’s thought of as a poorer option than Angry Ted Lasso.

Goes to show how dumb most owners are.

Rafa in the Wolves or West Ham jobs would be scary, but thankfully they're both too stupid to ever bring him in. Let them stay in mid table.

If you don't know, then you're probably still suffering. It was all just a game to him, he won plenty of the battles but in the end, lost the war.

Incredible that some of you actually bought into Mike Ashley's spin on the whole situation.

The same guy that did Keegan and Hughton dirty, and brought the likes of Wise, Llambias, Kinnear, Pardew and Bruce to the club.

    Mad world man. Mad world.

Come on, man. He’s about as good as they can get in their situation. They’re relegation-threatened side offering an interim role.

Only said that because it looked like they were talking to Rafa. Maybe it wasn't true though.

Rafa will have managed a quarter of the teams in the league, if he takes another job. Along with his Chinese stint, that doesn't sit right with me.

I'm fully on board this takeover doesn't happen without him, and for that i'm grateful. I'm also glad he fought Ashley for us, but he played the fans, and then chased the money. I'm sure we hold him in more fondness that he does us, we were just a job, like the many he's had since.

Overall i'm very neutral about him.

How did he play the fans man?

I was avoiding the club in those days so could be off, but my interpretation was he saw China as a good spot from which he could easily return to Newcastle should the takeover have come through? A bit tragic that it ended up being 6 months late really.

That's a really good point as well actually!
