  1. This is exactly how these so called big clubs and their fan bases actually look at things. Their egos get in the way! A lot of times they won't just look at the quality of the player and trust the scouting info and data their recruitment teams spend so much time pulling together. It has to be a 'big name' that other 'big clubs' are after. It's exactly why they passed on both Bruno and Isak despite being linked with them so much prior to us making a move in both instances. Long may it continue. Now their fans are all over the place screeching for the club to spend big on the likes of Isak, Kudus and Cunha. Absolute mugs man.

Oh! That's interesting. Mentioned the other day I was hoping we'd give Mcatee a good look. Fits in very well with the sort of player Howe has done so well with in Gordon, Hall and Tino over the last couple of seasons. His profile is the sort of number 10 that can cut in from the right side that people have been hoping for too. Could end up being another really savvy move.
  4. PSR and FFP is going to screw them over too. They have more money and are also spending more, but that doesn't come with any guarantees. Man Utd have to sell to buy currently, due to their reckless spending. Theres only so long you can keep spending so much money so recklessly and that includes the staff they keep hiring and firing, like Ashworth, and not just the players!
  5. I think the other Prem clubs have come a long way since then. There are hardly any more bottom of the barrel managers at these clubs like Pardew, Pulis, Bruce or Allardyce etc. Recruitment at these clubs has also improved massively. They are also now in position to charge extortionate fees if interest is shown in their players. I don't think this thing is going to work out like those so called cartel clubs envisioned. I think we are seeing it when we look at the table too.
  6. It's never this straight forward. Cunha was underwhelming at Atletico. Time will tell. I think he'll be a good fit there.
  7. As far as I can see the clubs with tighter restrictions have improved by getting better managers and coaching in, and are doing a better job with their recruitment. It's sharpening them. Meanwhile the clubs with all the money don't seem to be hitting the mark as often, if anything having that extra money seems to make them lazier in the market, or too risk averse. I'm not sure how well this whole thing is working out for them. Especially now PSR is making it harder to spend huge sums on multiple players.
  8. Well we're going to do it and he's going to sign. Save your energy. Let them be the one's annoyed that they're not signing him.
  9. There's salaries coming off the books at the end of the season. We're also looking far more likely to be in Europe. He'll get a new deal.
  10. They are the one's so desperate and thirsty it's probably turning the guy off
  11. They were linked with him so much before we bought him, and they bottled it. I know it just makes them all so sick! Oh well! All the voting against Newcastle means we're not doing anyone any favours and PSR means they really can't afford to shell out so much on one player now. Good times
  12. We'll see. If he goes there I'm going to say he'll be a hit. Never really seemed to settle into an established role in the Dortmund team. I think he's such a good finisher when he's on it. So quick and comfortable on the ball too. For that fee can't see them having any regrets whatsoever.
  13. Think in the Villa setup he can go on the right or on the left, and can even play upfront too. Can just see the through balls to him from Tielemans already.
  14. My God ... that's really decent business for Villa. Could really see him doing well in the Prem in that Villa team.
  15. In his age 20 season Isak moved to Sociedad for £12.5 million. He then established himself as their lead striker over the next three seasons. With one particular standout season where he scored 17 goals. During this period he showed plenty for us to determine the kind of striker he could be in the Premier league, with his speed, athleticism and technique. We paid £60 million for him after those three seasons. In Hojlund's age 20 season you spent £64 million on him. The year before he was brought off the bench at Atalanta mostly, and was not their lead striker. It was his first season there. He scored 9 goals. Prior to that he was in the Austrian league and scored 6 goals in 13 games. What on Earth was that £64 million fee based on? At a similar stage and level of experience Isak moved for £12.5 million to Sociedad, and had previously scored 13 goals in 16 games on loan in the Dutch league as a lead striker. In my opinion your move for Hojlund seems very forced and it was made way too early before he really had a chance to show what he could be. Joining you so early means he misses out on the development Isak benefitted from during his 3 years at Sociedad. So as far as him reaching any sort of similar levels to Isak, I think it is very unlikely. Your fans are already calling for a more established striker, and it looks like the club is thinking the same. This means over the next few years he is now likely to be a bench player for you, and you are not likely to be in Europe for at least next season, so his minutes will be limited. If I were to guess I think he ends up reaching the level of an Alexander Sorloth, who he shares some similar traits with. I think you have ultimately stunted his growth if anything. Unless he leaves altogether and goes to a different league of a decent level where he starts every week.

Saw a report linking that Akliouche at Monaco with Man City for £60 million! Seems like Dibling's price is only heading upwards and is going to end up around £45 million. Kuhn was bought for only £3 million a year ago, and he's doing really well, but I agree, £30 million is steep! Especially coming from that league.

That Nicolas Kuhn at Celtic has been mentioned as well now, for the right wing. No idea how realistic or true that is. He has terrorised in the Scottish League and has also performed at a high level for them in the Champions League too.
  18. Liverpool would never pay what it takes to land Isak. It's a big part of the reason they brought Michael Edwards back, to go back to identifying prospects they can sign before they cost a bomb. They're even hesitating to sign VDV and Salah to big contracts because of their age, and seems like they'd rather move on to kick start a new era with a new generation of players. Seems like those two re-signing will be more down to the outside pressure from the fan base.
  19. Think they were asking this last summer. And he's having a heck of a season now, so I think they'll now be looking for more.
  20. Can't afford him now. Too late! The way the season is going for him they will probably be asking for £60 million in the summer.
  21. Mbeumo just keeps racking up the goals man. Ridiculous.
