Something isn’t right if he can’t make an impact against a league 1 side
Nobody could.
-
We could play with an 80 million striker and we still wouldn’t score. We create fuck all.
He had an absolutely golden chance, clear shot at goal from ten yards out in the middle of the box, the ball not an especially awkward height - and he put it into the middle tier of the Gallowgate. I haven't watched as much as some this season but, based on everything I've seen, I can think of very few strikers we've had over the last couple of decades with less composure and instinct than Joelinton. For all the comparisons he doesn't get anywhere near Shola.
Plenty of great strikers miss guilt edged chances.
They get opportunities to score again continuously though, and improve.
This poor lump of ours is on a hiding to nothing though.
I pity him. Sorry situation all around.

That's a Premier league 11 playing against a League 1 side
They should have the quality to win regardless, the same quality to win regardless of who the manager is just like you were all saying when we were winning this year.
Football isn't simply about picking your best 11.
Nor is it solely the manager's fault for the stinkers of an effort in front of goal the likes of Almiron, Lascelles and Joelinton presented today. All of them them are of the calibre of quality to finish any of that.
Its strange that its luck when we win and then its down to him when we don't.
If you watch the games it makes perfect sense. We never look convincing man.
If the manager isn't culpable then why bother having one at all? Just let the players go out there themselves.
Sadly we'd probably end up looking better.

To be fair, that team he put out tonight should have won the game. I don't think this result is on him.
Yes, let's sell all 11 of them and exchange them all for a new group. Problem sorted.

Guys please ... enough now. It's no different from Rafa's football. Stop complaining for goodness sake.

Remember when Bruce promised front foot attacking football

Can't expect to play lovely football every week guys.
Playing the actual game of football would be a start
I was being sarcastic in case you didn't realise, we're fucking dreadful week in week out.
I know man. We're so bad
-
Defended well, contained them and were unlucky at times. All in all, a draw is a decent result.

Surely not!

Can’t expect to complete with Oxford and their middle-upper class education tbf.
Pardew:- "Their education has done us in"

Get the fucking sleeves rolled up and get stuck in them.
;D

Why not give Sorensen a chance, can't be any worse than Joelinton.
-
Can't say I've noticed Bentaleb at all today. Obviously not fit.
Have you noticed anyone though?
That is the million dollar question.

Guys, no need to panic.
We're just waiting till injury time.

You'd think there would be a way to get the ball to Almiron with space to run into against League One opposition, but oh no there isn't.
Bruce's forte isn't working the ball around the pitch, it's man management. Perhap a gee up rallying call and a pat on the players arses will get them going.
You know I think it's fine to have managers with this mindset if they have the self awareness to then surround themselves with assistants that are more tactical. It can in fact work really well.
Instead they just surround themselves with their mates who are all yes men. It's so pathetic man.

Sean is so much worse than Matty it's hilarious. Why is he always the one to get the nod?
Here we go again ...
It must be all Sean's fault!
We are playing League 1 Oxford at home.
Even if Sean has been playing the whole game so far on all fours, we shouldn't be this s****.
It's not new though is it. It's like this whether he is in the team or not, regardless of opposition, regardless of home or away.
Same old rubbish.
You talk some shite. I didn't say any of that at all. I just made the point Matty is better than Sean yet Sean always gets picked because he's older. You went and made it out that I'd said its all Sean's fault when I didnt.
Simply put, get fucked. You're not pulling that shit today.
Fair enough. My fault.
I assure you though, if we put Matt in it will be the same thing.
Think Matt has benefited more from being allowed to push forward more this season, while Sean has been asked to sit.
Matt did well mostly when we briefly played 3 in centre mid and both he and Almiron pushed forward from the middle 3 in midfield, which we've now moved away from.
By next season we'll be talking about Matt the same way we are talking about Sean right now. Just wait and see Bruce work his magic.

This us every game guys, but it's okay.
Once a defender scores the narrative will change and everyone will be happy.
-
Using the same tactics against Oxford (H) than we do Liverpool (A)
Hey, didn't you hear. The players are working hard and never giving up. And so this perfectly acceptable football.
Apparently ...
-
Team is reallly strong.
I need to see at a minimum 2 goals from Joelinton today.

German football analyst compares his style of play and versatility to Cuadrado.

Quite disturbed by the Dennis Wise rating on these two new guys, I know highlight reels show you the good bits and miss out all the Atsu/Dummet moments but they've got some skills between them.
Not sure where they all fit in but Lazaro has a good defensive sense and should make a good RWB.
VALENTINO LAZARO ✭ RED BULL SALZBURG ✭ THE NEXT SADIO MANE ✭ Skills & Goals ✭
They both seem to have a good eye for a pass so are probably going to be bewildered by the lack of movement in front of them.

Not sure how we fit everyone in the current system and can't help but wonder if Rafa was forced to pick a team from this current crop just what he would do, because if Bruce finds a way I'll have to begrudgingly give him a small measure of respect. We all know Bruce doesn't do tactics so its probably all academical.
Everyone fit hypothetical...
Dubravka
Schar Lascelles Lejuene
Lazaro Willems
Hayden Bentaleb
Almiron ASM
JoeL
Why Hayden? Of the four trad. CM's I think he is the best reading the game defensively. Why JoeL, who else have we got? With Almiron and ASM closer maybe there's marked improvement.
That's the best 11 I envisioned with everyone fit also
Really hope that's what Bruce has in mind.
However I can't help but think he will play Shelvey in there instead of Hayden, which would be unacceptable.

I have no doubt we are in fact the ones looking at the likes of Ighalo and Slimani, just as we were looking at Giroud and Llorente apparently.
Maybe someone said United were interested to pique the agents interest. They'll be shocked when they get flown into Newcastle instead of Manchester.

Against this level of opposition at home we should be consistently creating chances, and increasing the probability of winning the game.
If that was the case, a result like this wouldn't even be so frustrating.
It is clear that we don't have a clue of what we're doing and that is the real issue.
The manager is shocking. It's his responsibility.
