He always finds a way to cling on
Think he'll snatch a draw at least in this game and then it will carry on
With Conte/Zidane around I don't understand why they don't pull the trigger, he's done very well up until this point but they need better
Great shout

Couldn't believe he started the game with a two man midfield with Pogba in it against a Leicester side that has decent quality in midfield too. How is he still making that mistake with Pogba man, Pogba never does enough defensively in a two man midfield. Unreal.

Ole's done.

Im more excited by him after realising they changed their minds on him because their new sporting director wanted a more conservative managerYeah, I saw that. Spurs really sound like they don't know whether they are coming or going.
Someone posted the Tifo video on Fonseca and it was intriguing for sure. I like his principles.

Of course Son is out with Covid
We'll beat them and the 'Bruce deserves a chance' media propoganda machine will be in full flow. Great, just great.

It won't, but he should just be gone.
It's like we've just got out of a long term abusive relationship and are throwing a party to celebrate. It's great, wonderful. Yet for some reason our ex's stupid fucking sister who was living there for some reason and always treated you like shit too is still living in the house so she'll be there too, pissing and moaning about how she has to find a new place now and how it's all been so hard on her. Fuck off, Sharon. And stop eating so many macaroons you know full well there are only a couple per person and you've had at least 5 now you cunt.
So beautifully stated man

I do feel like we can trust Staveley to do the right thing and sack him, I just worry that if we do say manage to squeak a win against Spurs and beat Palace with him in the dugout they might "give him a crack" as he likes to say.
That would be utterly depressing.
If he wins he will be in there lobbying to stay as he has been there and done that and can stave off relegation now that the fans are behind him and the players with Ashley gone. And so they may as well keep him to see how it goes until the summer.
He will be manipulating things in some manner as long as he is here and is why we need to move this man on. It's why I will be finding it very hard to be excited about Sunday and getting a win over Spurs. The situation is a really messy one.

I'm really beginning to think this is why he was kept on. It's all about this 1,000 game malarkey. Embarrassing.

Of course Moyes says Bruce has done a brilliant job and Dean Smith says Bruce should get a chance. My goodness man.
Really don't think I want an English/British manager next. We need a break from the media bias when they are not doing well. It's sickening.

If this is what it is like to be invested in your football club again, just give me back that beautiful sweet apathy.
This club man!
The nerve of Bruce I tell you. The man is actually going out swinging
Hope on Sunday Spurs and the Newcastle fans swing back and deliver the final blow that sends him into oblivion

what an embarrassing press conference.
why did he have to be so smug and arsey.
rubbing the fans and the press up the wrong way.
classless arrogant prick.
should just have talked about the match and said no comment to anything alse.
thick pcp/pif have really dropped a clanger here (in the short term only though, thankfully).
Maybe it's meant to be this way you know.
After everyone telling us for the past three years what a wonderful man and manager he is, maybe this is how it must end. With him finally revealing what we all already knew to the world when he didn't even have to.
Just couldn't maintain some dignity because ultimately he's super bitter and annoyed that he has no chance of managing the club under the new owners because he is shite. He will be flung out in due course and no one will give a jot what he is up to anymore. No more premier league gigs for him ever.
-
Oh this is absolutely perfect! He's come out being a complete ass about this and is showing his true colours for all and sundry to see.
Moreover this is now absolutely guaranteed to piss of all the fans and have them on his back come Sunday. It's going to be absolute chaos.
We will get battered and he is going to hear about it. His media chums are unlikely to go lightly on him now either as he's had a go at them. What a monumental catastrophe. The guy is a complete dunce. Wants people to feel sorry for him for doing a terrible job and then getting millions as a payoff. Get out of here man.
Feel bad for the new ownership that this is how it starts for them, but they should really have known better. Tough situation though as they'd have been thinking like everyone outside the club that Bruce is this jolly nice guy. Urgh.
-
Yeah, Emery is definitely more Rafa or Mourinho like for sure.
Considering where we are at the minute, it might well be far more prudent to go with this kind of manager, as we have completely lost any kind of structure or discipline on the pitch. It is a complete and utter mess.

I quite liked him at Arsenal, they had bigger cultural and strategic problems to address, which they still haven't.
Not that we don't, but you'd hope our strategy will enable him more.
Yeah, think he would have eventually done well at Arsenal, but they were never going to be patient with him, as they were trying to be right back in that top 4 place they were starting to lose.
Could see him do very well with a club like Newcastle, especially coming after a joker like Bruce. Everyone will be behind him and the atmosphere around the place is going to be immense.

It can't be that straight forward? Even by Ashley/Charnley standards that is poor.
I refuse to believe that it is intentional. The intent from Newcastle side has to have been that a new 3 year term is to be automatically renewed after a 3 year period has been completed, but rather that Charnley have put forward or accepted bad wording to the contract that is not clear and open for opportunistic interpretation which is now the dispute....surely?
Purely speculation from my side, but is it fair to assume that Newcastle ownership feels we have a case for terminating the contract and paying out compensation for remainder of this season, while Bruce feels he has a case for demanding that they compensate for a full term, and that we have offered him a compromise to get it settled sooner rather than later?
This certainly alters my view and feeling towards the new owners as to why he isn't gone yet.
I think it is that straight forward.
You have to remember that this is Ashley we are talking about, think he wanted to give the guy the typical 6 year or 8 year contracts he usually does, but knew the fans would have been enraged right from the outset. And so he was sneaky about it.
Once he has someone that he knows is a complete patsy he's happy to keep them around forever.

Unai Emery?
Don’t shot the messenger please
Would not be upset about Emery at all. That guy is a winner.
Think a club like Newcastle suits him better than an Arsenal or PSG did, as he seems to do a great job of lifting up clubs that don't have as big a reputation so would make sense from that standpoint.
Also has some prem experience from his stint with the Gunners, which would be useful due to our current predicament.

Aye, plus they are businessmen/women we may have a lot of cash but they will not want to waste a single penny! They will strategically calculate all costs and to be honest as a club that’s exactly what we need.
Yes, absolutely. I imagine we were all set to sack Bruce and then word of the large payoff got back to PIF and they were like 'Hell No!'.
I imagine they have been looking into if there are any ways to bring that number down, unless it is absolutely necessary as there is no way out of it.
-
The awkward hiring of Graeme Jones and him essentially looking like the new manager is also beginning to make more sense now.
I think it was the best way they could manage bringing someone new in, without getting rid of Bruce because they couldn't, even though at that point they probably knew they had to, as he was taking us down.

At the end of the day £8m is nothing now, as much as I want Bruce to suffer I don’t see why they would quibble at 70% v 100%.
I actually respect them for not just handing it over to the fat mess.
They're looking at the position the club is in at the bottom of the table and how much the fans and players dislike him and are thinking 'why should we just give this idiot £8 million?!'. It's absolutely disgusting really.

Can anyone explain in simpleton terms what this means/how the contract works? Normally when I hear "rolling contract" I associate that with easier and cheaper to terminate.
I know the Athletic put out an article back in July which apparently gives some clarity on it, but at that time I didn't really care if he was here for another season or 10 as long as Ashley owned us so didn't really pay attention to what was said on here.
It sounds like after each year the contract resets to three years, and so essentially, it can never be run down. It's a never ending contract.
Basically Ashley hired Bruce to be here forever, until he managed to sell the club and then Bruce would be rewarded with a full payoff due to the contract never running down.
