Such a nothing second goal and then Haydon does brilliantly only to then rush the one on one with all the time in the world.

We had these lot in the first part of the first half. Wasted so many good positions with some rotten decisions from Murphy in particular.

Looking forward to some foreigner grabbing the opportunity and making the most of it. Then of course all the pundits and PFMs will wail and moan about a lack of opportunities.

We need to stop trying to be what we're not. So far we've tried to be Italy, France, Spain and Germany and we're still s***. Now we're not just s***, we're boring as f*** as well.

 

I just want a manager with a pair of balls to play an old school English 4-4-2. Andy Carroll or Kane alongside Vardy or Rashford, 2 wingers who cross the ball, 2 fullbacks who cross the ball and a proper maverick central midfielder in the Peter Beardsley role.

 

I'm not talking about Tony Pulis-style long ball turgid shitball, i'm talking about attacking football using width, aerial presence and pace.

If England play 4-4-2 who on earth do you play as the central midfield pair?

It's the same old story, because it requires teams to come on to England rather than sit back. Germany will obviously do that, the likes of Malta won't.

The formation isn't necessarily negative though.

Against the likes of Malta push the wing backs right up, or even just play wingers in those positions rather than defenders. Also, perhaps opt for more forward thinking midfielders in midfield.

Just Imagine if that fat mess of an owner had got Rafa Loftus-Cheek as agreed. Urgh.
