  1. Honestly, I'm not that big a fan of either of them.

Gini was shockingly absent in so many games. I remember watchin and wondering where he was so often, and we desperately needed him to get involved. I really don't like his game that much at all. Still not sure where he should be playing either. Seems a luxury player that you could perhaps slot into a team with lots of quality players and he can just goal poach then.

I'd agree with the apples and oranges except this was wijnaldums first year in a new league, at a new club playing under a terrible coaching regime alongside a team plummeting. I'm not going to say his invisibility in too many games was acceptable but he certainly has more excuses to fall back on than Sissoko.

I've said it before and I will say it again. If we had managed to stay up the majority of the board would be optimistic and seeing his goal return as a very promising first season rather than using him as another scapegoat for many players and management's failure.

Yeah, fair enough. I guess what frustrated me so much about Gini is that he wasn't even trying things, and struggling to pull them off, that I could understand. I mean he has pace and good ability on the ball, but hardly ever took people on for example. Really strange. It will be fascinating to see how he fares in another side if he stays in the Prem.

  3. So. Farewell then

    Mister Cisse.

    Off to smile then

    At Chinese linesmen.

    Shed loads of Yuan

    But nowhere

    To blow it.

    Wouldn't you

    Know it.

    Won't miss you

    But you'll continue

    To miss.

    Lazy streak

    Of Papiss.

    Amazing

  4. Genuinely amazed at how long it took for us to get signings in previously. Had come to accept that it was just the nature of the transfer market. Rafa has just blown that out of the water.

  5. Fat Sam squaring up to Pep is a absolute certainty before making some post match comment about foreigners taking our jobs.

Yup. Will be dead proud of how he "out tacticked" him after scoring from one set piece, and keeping 11 men in his box all game.

  6. Where were Song and Coquelin at 21 years old?

I will always be excited about a player that has come through at Arsenal, even if they haven't established themselves yet. I think the odds are good that he will be quality, and until he proves to be otherwise I'm going with that.

  7. Nice young versatile player that has come up in a really decent club, and has already gained experience in the Championship with Hull. Love it.

Our work this summer has been absolutely beautiful.

Should probably wait till we play a few games to say that

Hey, we're getting in players nice and early, and covering all positions. Good enough for me for now.

  8. Hmmm ... what does he work hard at doing? It's all very well and good working hard, but not if it doesn't achieve any purpose. He works hard at running around the pitch, but he's hardly ever in place to achieve anything worthwhile. It's ridiculous.

  9. Gayle will come in as a striker at United but knows he may have to be used out wide from time to time.

He said: “The manager told me I could play in either role as a striker or on the wing.

“He just wants me to stretch defences and run in behind, and get goals that will push us up the division next season. I prefer the striker role though.”

Found his comments really interesting. In that even if he is played on the wing, Rafa has asked him to focus on getting in behind and looking to score goals.

When he was used out wide at Palace it didn't really work great, because he was asked to play as a more conventional wide man i.e. staying wide. Good to see that Rafa has already made it clear that even if he is wide, he will still be asked to get in behind and stretch the defence, as well as look to score from that position, similar to the way Theo does at Arsenal I'd imagine, which would be very useful. Good stuff.
