That team is more than capable of top 8 in that formation. The problem is the shape and tactics. All of them will stand still, Gouffran, Ben Arfa and Cabaye will be too far away from Cisse, we won't be compact enough when defending and we won't try and stretch defences when attacking.

I think it's tactics rather than formation that needs to be worked on. Happy with 4-2-3-1 as long as decent Left/Right wing and players encouraged to move and retain possession. Needs to be 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 for me.

If he had any clarity about how he wants to play he'd have made sure he got the players to fit his vision in the last two years. It's more likely he never really had any vision and keeps changing it every time a plan goes wrong, much like his management on the pitch over 90 mins. I guess this is the difference in perspective, because in the life cycle of a football club, two years isn’t that long. In fact, in any job, your first two years is often a learning experience in which you make mistakes. The real test is your ability to then put things right. Of course, your boss can decide to sack you and bring someone else in who’s going to start from scratch, but that’s not always the best move. Everyone seems to thing this view is beneath contempt for some reason. We've been conditioned to believe that two seasons is ages. I don't think 2 seasons is ages, I do think there should be some kind of visible strategy within 2 years

I will happily see us lose first 5 games next season to see the back of him and I hate seeing us lose (Although somewhat used to it these days)
-
I'm just not sure from First Team through to junior levels we are any further forward or whether we have gone backwards. I see nothing from him to suggest he knows how to integrate Sammy, Tav, Streete, Campbell, Ferguson, Inman or whoever into the first team. I fear he will always revert back to experienced first teamers like Jonas, Perch, Williamson instead of persevering, coaching and developing our young players. For our long term success we need these players coming through. Now these players may not be good enough, but that requires someone to be ruthless and get rid of them and put a strategy in place to allow young players to progress. We do see more players going on loan now, but I would like to see us send them out for full season loans at Championship level next season and look to progress them into the team.
-
Is he not yet another central midfielder? We've already got more than I think can fit in. If it was to get him and deploy him and Tiote with 3 attackers in front of them (And no I don't mean Jonas) then that may free us up and still maintain a solid midfield. Would not be against it as long as the attacking balance is there.

We've gone backwards this season, it's hard to argue that we've gone backwards overall IMO. really? I think all the good things we had have all but evaporated and that can happen in just one season. I wouldn't back all your hopes that he has just had one bad season. His managerial career tells us it tends to go down hill and he has no idea how to change it. Even last season despite position, the style of play was slowly dissolving and our organised approach also dissapeared. Have you seen anything in last 2 years that shows our club is evolving and becoming better, last season was mainly down to two prolific strikers hitting form at right times (Ba before xmas and Cisse after). Pardew had no idea how to integrate the two of them this season and resulted in Cisse being shunted out to right or even Shola ffs. For all the good last season, the bloke has shown he has no idea how to evolve the team and club
-
I could understand the stability thing and commend them if the manager was showing some signs of developing the club/team. Can anyone name one thing that is better/has evolved/is evolving that Pardew is directly responsible for. I only see de-evolution in terms of style etc. Under Hughton we at least had a style which included direct to Carroll with Nolan picking up pieces. Under Pardew we have lost all sense of style of play. We have potentially better players than Hughton had to work with but for me the team and club have gone backwards in Pardews 2.5 years in charge, therefore the stability argument does not hold up as he is not showing that stability long term will yield any kind of success and in fact is likely to send us back years and take years to repair the damage.

Should we start a "When will the useless cunt in charge get sacked" thread? I predict he will be out by December with us in bottom 3
-
No more pesky Thursday Night / Sunday Afternoon games? No games switched to Sky as they won't subject their customers to that?
-
We still have the cups! Ha modified it just before this as realised someone may catch on to that
-
We won't lose to Reading or Wigan? (In the league)
-
It's mainly the Carlton Cole one that worries me. He's leaving WH, and he fits the Pardew requirement to a tee. Scary. Could be so scary if they let Pardew make transfers. I fully expect Carlton Cole now.
-
Time will tell but I expect to be massively underwhelmed with transfers this summer and expect the same shitty formations, stupid tactical decisions and ridiculous substitutions/selections from the cunt. Considering jacking it in now because I can't bare watching us again under him
-
I just fucking give up on this club like. He proves himself inept and other managers are sacked for less. He will set us back so many years.
-
Nope. Which makes me think they either don't know one way or another, or they know he has gone but have been promised something tomorrow. I have hope, a great big pile of hope and it won't be broken tonight

I thought one of them would have rubbished it by now, conspicuous by their absense
-
I bet we are still called fickle, deluded and impatient though when it does happen.
-
Just believe man you know you want to
-
The only fear i've got about him going is that Pullis in available now. We would at least score set pieces and he does hoof ball properly. Can't wait for Debuchy to be our Delap

I have decided to believe the c*** just to have some optimism for the future That is fair enough, i agree May as well otherwise I will go mental. Sick of being depressed so holding on to any hope that the excuse making twat will fuck off
