  1. What the fuck Taggart was doing letting Pogba go??
  2. I still rate Fletcher very highly. Smart with the ball, has a good awareness of space and he's terrific at getting stuck in and upsetting playmakers on the ball. A player of his mould is an ideal partner for Herrera. Vidal is exactly who we need, but I just can't see it, despite rumours flying in constantly about him wanting to come to us now. He could go to better than Manchester United.
  3. Just got one of next seasons commentaries online. Great tackle by Shaw, he lays it square to Herrera who slides it forward to Mata. Terrific ball to Rooney who beats one man then plays a delightful through ball to the clean through Cleverley. Goal kick to Palace.
  4. Shadows of England vs Cameroon in 1990. Never been so nervous during an international match than that. Luckily for us Gazza and Loinacher saved the day.
  5. I remember Michael Owen falling over an outstretched foot against Argentina in 02. And there's little difference between that incident and today's. Both were pens. Both left slightly unsavoury tastes for the over dramatising.
  6. he clearly exaggerated the contact but its a clear trip by Marquez. Anyway another close game as expected and once again i find myself feeling sorry for the loser. Congrats to Holland for going through and a huge to Mexico who like Chile have been tremendous value in this tournament. Agree with this...he also had other opportunities to go over and he didn't.
  7. Well before that. Aquino's been utter bobbins. Sshhhh im fishing.
  8. Mexico gone down the shite since they brought that Man United tranny on. Absolutely contributed zip.

There's really nothing wrong with accommodations, there's nothing wrong with the marketing or David f***ing Beckham's involvement in the last bid attempt, there haven't been inordinate hooligan problems in over a decade (they hosted a European Championship in Ukraine/Poland in 2012 for f***'s sake) and the negative stereotypes of English football have more or less dissipated in the Premier League/Sky era. I agree that it has nothing to do with inventing football. It has to do with common sense about where in the world might host a pretty good football tournament. Like the London Olympics, England (or a joint UK bid for that matter) would probably host a friendly, enthusiastic, cost effective, well organized World Cup with a great atmosphere for supporters. It is well overdue another one, seeing as Germany, Italy, France, Spain etc. have all hosted at least once since (plus additional European Championships) and we're seriously entertaining another US bid in the relatively near future. As Disco says, FIFA won't do it because they won't make enough money. Because their corrupt organizing committee hate the FA and English football in general (see Jack Warner), and because FIFA's own practices (FIFA courts, sponsor focused bullshit, profit) will face more difficult public scrutiny from an active press about the way they operate. I agree with this except inventing the game should surely be a major plus point.

Well of course we have all of that too. It's just that the history of Association Football began here and so to be the host of one World Cup is just wrong.
  12. Looked good in doing so though. Germany in 90 is a better example though. Clearly the best side in the tournament from their first game.
  13. It does happen though. I can't think of a team that's started off amazingly and won it. Ever. Germany in 90. France in 98.
  14. Shame that. Still cannot see Brazil winning this tournament though.
  15. Crowd singing something to the tune of "the referee's a wanker"
  16. Why shouldn't he be? He's a very good ref. He's had a very good game tbh.
  17. Did they really record pass stats from 1966? Rubbish IMO Some geek will have rewatched every minute somewhere.
  18. Worst pass completion percentage by a Brazil team in a World Cup since 1966.

Same reasoning I use for this conundrum. Why can we not have a cold World Cup. A wintertime one. Fuck domestic seasons. If the Qatar one will be in our winter, then why shouldn't Northern Europe host one in winter?
