  1. Of course they have. It was a far more physical game then.
  2. Pretty much, he was training with West Ham briefly in 2013 actually. Pardew would love Bedoya even more, runs more + offers less going forward than Zusi. It's nice to know we're at least keeping tabs on MLS, there's a good amount of raw, young talent right now. Pretty sure only a few are ready for the jump to Europe, but a few years time and they could be handy. Keeping tabs is our forte. [emoji1]
  3. Had Rooney not broken his foot in Euro 04, I reckon we'd have won it. So he did have some bad luck. But overall I reckon we underachieved under him.
  4. Ended up chatting to some Italian Juventus fan when I was on holiday and he said Scirea was the best of the lot. He's lived over here for about 40 years and was kicking off about how Pardew has ruined Santon whenever he has seen him play recently. He was more cultured than Gentile but just as ruthless. He's right up there with Baresi et al. That Italian era kind of 78 - 82 they had some kickers. Romeo Benetti and Marco Tardelli to go with Scirea, Gentile, Cabrini and Collovati . All top players too mind. Cabrini was a top left back both defending and overlapping Conti.
  5. If ever there was an unaptly named player it was Gentile. He was a fucking animal.
  6. They've had some corkers Italy like. Gentile and Scirea. Baresi and Costacurta. Nesta and Cannavaro. Plus Facchetti, Bergomi and of course Maldini. They've been well over spoilt over the years.
  7. No, he's just a s*** manager. How can a Newcastle fan not see that he was a s*** manager? It defies belief. He won one trophy but dismantled a team that had been winning everything going for over a decade. When he left Blackburn, he was on the verge of being sacked and SBR's team with Carver in charge beat them 3-0. He dismantled our team as well. I don't, I just don't understand what's so difficult to understand... He was f***ing s*** for us, yes. Doesn't mean that for periods he didn't do decent jobs somewhere else. Souness was weapons grade horse s*** and should never have been anywhere near our club. I hate what Souness did to our club. He sold everyone who made us tick. Batty, Ginola, Ferdinand and Gillespie off the top of my head I think, and those players were critical to accompanying Shearer. He also brought some dross, Jon Dahl Tomasson was awful for us all be it he went on to do ok in Italy. Think he signed Given and Solano so perhaps those were the good things he did, but it wasn't worth it at the expense of destroying an attacking mentality and squad of players for a negative system and shitter players. Gullit was just as awful too. Thank god Bobby came when he did, although am I right in thinking Bobby turned us down before we got Souness in? is there a prize for the most factually incorrect post of the year on here? I think he's got his Sounesses mixed up with his Dalglishes.
  8. Johnson literally had the freedom of his flank. Considering that, I wouldn't describe his performance as excellent. You can only beat what's in front of you and CRonaldo couldn't create smack from that side of the pitch. Had it been a british player you'd be singing the praises. It's a weird one, everytime a US player has a good game you lot always try to find excuses. Incidentally your post is bollocks. Ive said Dempsey was outstanding and one or two others impressed me too. Beasley for one. But to say someone was excellent who basically had the freedom of his side of the pitch is a tad over the top.He had a good game. And at the very least USA deserved their point. Agreed on Beasley as well for most parts. But Dempsey had legs for 45minutes and then faded Until the goal. We'll have to agree to disagree on Johnson. I thought he was excellent. Jones also had avery good game and was all over in that midfield. It was the British players jibe that was bollocks. What the USA team lack in talent and ability they make up for in work ethic. And in that regard Dempsey led from the front. Literally ran himself out. Fair play to them.

  11. We're out despite not playing too bad though. There is a small sense of injustice, maybe not deserving of what has happened. We got through this stage 4 years ago playing far worse than this. Agree about press reaction to a foreign manager mind.

  13. His best achievement was keeping a shocking Southampton squad up. Dalglish though has won many trophies as a manager so you have to say he's had a good career.
  14. Keegan brought in Gerrard. As a starter? I'm sure Gerrard spent a lot of his younger days injured. But Sven put Gerrard at the heart of the team. Yep. Played against Germany in Euro 2000. Edit: Sorry as a sub. Didnt fully read your post. But KK definitely introduced him to international football.
  15. Keegan brought in Gerrard.
  16. There is no way Portugal will keep a clean sheet here.
  17. Nor does his positional sense look too impressive. The Yanks should be using the right flank at every opportunity.
