  1. Source? Good signing if played in his right position. Multiple mutterings down here. Someone apparently to be unveilied tomorrow also, which, being July 1st and free agent day makes me a bit worried about Sol Campbell's future plans. Or Mickey Owen. I can guarantee you that won't be happening. He asked for 100k a week and no pay as you play business. Please tell me you are joking?! If that is true Michael Owen is possibly the most delusional man on Earth. What arrogance! From a good source down here, and also backed up by someone posting on here about a chat they had with Phil Brown about him.

  4. Why would Shepherd be bothered about the reaction? He's about to buy 100 percent of what he sold a fraction of a while back for not really a great deal more money.I'd imagine the pound signs in his eyes are the most important thing to him right now. Rich, self serving people don't give a scooby what us common proles think.
  5. Villa supposedly close to signing Tuncay.
  6. Have to say, I have my doubts (big ones) over MON's transfer market acuity, but I thought he played the Barry situation absolutely superbly. I bet he couldn't stop smiling when he found out the most likely end result wasn't him going to Liverpool, either.
  7. I don't think it is optimistic, either, City will pay the fee regardless how stupid it is. 12m for Barry with one year left on his contract, I assume Lescott has a while to run on his, and as you say, Glen Johnson for 18m, Bridge for 13, 15 for Toure, that kind of puts it into perspective. It is the right sort of figure, but only because Man City have sent things so fucking mental. This is all heading for a very, very bad place.
  8. Thing is though, although you're right, football isn't about locally nurtured lads any more, and hasn't been for a long time but there are an awful lot of intermediate points between that and the way Man City are sending things at the moment. 250,000 a week for Et'oo? I can't see how that can be in any way good for the game as a whole.
  9. Hello Mr Beye. As a supporter of Aston Villa, I'd quite like to see you play for us, but feel duty bound to point out that you'd probably get played at left back most of the season, plus any other random position Martin decides to throw you in at.
  10. Run for the hills if he does, run for the hills. You'd need to ready yourself for your manager talking the club down and himself up continually, and constantly CONSTANTLY going on about his "great bunch of young lads" at Leeds. One of whose "greatness" you've experienced at close hand of late.
  11. Yep. He's got a truly huge opinion of himself.
  12. Talking of rescuing careers, not a transfer story, but check out this self-loving prick. Great levels of self delusion. I wonder who the job Mourinho supposedly recommended him for was with.
  13. People also assume that Chelsea's rebirth started with RA. It didn't. They benefitted from the largesse of Matthew Harding for a fair while before, as well. For all the hatred (justified, mostly) of how Chelsea operate, even they didn't go bat shit mental straight from the off like Man City have. One of two things will happen at the end of this (and possibly both). One is Man City will, eventually, be left in a worse state than when they started. The other is that football will eat itself.

    Bramble

Bramble in the past reminded me of Zat Knight. Solid defender, technically very good at times, basics of a very good player, but prone to those lack of concentration errors which undo all the good work.
  15. Word down here is that Villa and Everton were both after him, but he wanted 100k a week, and wasn't prepared to countenance pay as you play style sensibleness, which quite rightly made O'Neill run a mile.
  16. OMG UR ALL HOOLIGANS!!!11!!!
  17. Shame he's got the mobility of a tortoise as if he did have any speed about him, he could have developed into top top class MF. Is he that immobile, MJ? Mind you, having said that, Gareth Barry has as much pace as I do (and I only ever break into a trot to get beer from the fridge) (oh, and to answer the door for the delivery man from the Ali Baba).
  18. When Birmingham got relegated the last time, i was delighted for about 2 weeks, then i totally forgot they even existed.
  19. Parker and Sidwell were found out at the very top level though, far too limited as players. Alternatively, he could be eased into the team and his talent will show. He's a hell of a player to bring on near the 70th minute mark when chasing the game. Sidwell has been found out at our current definitey-not-top level, too
  20. Exactly. I suspect Chelsea are doing with him exactly what they did with Sidwell, get out of contract player on the cheap, do what you said, then move him on for a profit next season. How much will he cost them? £5m? There's some wittering about a tribunal set fee, but I think they always set shit money, like that Crystal Palace kid who went to (I think) Glorious Tottenham, whose fee was set at about 12 grotes.

  22. Gordon can't get a game for Sunderland most of the time, I'd expect Harper to have a shout there. For my money, he's a bit like Stuart Taylor (how weird is that, incidentally, anyway) - not a bad keeper, not brilliant, just a bog standard "goalkeeper"
  23. Stuart Taylor joins Manchester City (he was our third choice goalkeeper). I guess he wanted Champions League football like that fat arsed cunt Barry. Strange move, though, esp with Hart rumoured to be going to Birmingham on loan for the season.
  24. Club sells player to other club, then signs him back, then sells him again in about 9 months and it isn't a shambles? *strokes metaphorical beard. Metaphorically*
