  1. it's not, not even close, it's about on a par with semi-pro football in the UK I don't know what your background is but somehow I don't think you'd be in a better position to judge the merits of the Korean league than I am. Oldtype have you been to K-league games?! I have been living in Korea (and Japan) on and off for quite a few years and have attended quite a few K-league games also. Absolutely no way in hell that the K-keague is on par with the Championship. I have an FC Seoul season ticket, and I think they're roughly comparable. Okay, I admit, it might be because I have an FC Seoul season ticket. Your mileage may vary significantly lower down the table. That said, the Championship isn't that good tbh.
  2. He's not a physically strong player by any stretch of the imagination, but he also suffers from the fact that like most Koreans, he looks ganglier than he actually is. If I had to bet my life I'd say that he's not good enough for the PL but oh well, stranger things have happened. http://ojsfile.ohmynews.com/STD_IMG_FILE/2008/0805/IE000946595_STD.jpg This is what one of our strongest players, who outmuscles most defenders he comes up against, looks like

  4. How many North Koreans have you met on the interweb?
  5. Another brilliant poacher's goal for Chong Te-se. I'm getting a feeling he could really burst onto the scene for North Korea this tournament.
  6. You know, I hate to bring out the stereotype that Nigeria are a group of talented individuals but not a team. But well, they kind of are...
  7. Nigeria v. North Korea on right now. Nigeria look pretty bad, the problem is that they're the kind of bad that you know is going to randomly pop up and score against you. ...So basically, 11xObafemi Martins
  8. http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/sport/newcastle-utd/newcastle-utd-news/2010/06/06/newcastle-track-korean-star-cho-yong-hyung-79310-26596753/ Sunday Sun have now picked this up. Well, I'd certainly rather have him than Campbell... Where would he rank amongst our current CBs? I honestly have no way of knowing. I like to think that our league is about on par with the Championship and he's currently playing CB for a team that's managed to be 2nd in the table whilst allowing the lowest number of goals with an otherwise horrible squad, so in an ideal world he should at least be as good as Williamson. He's not huge and strong but he's an extremely intelligent defender who likes to break up moves before they happen. Plays some pretty decent passes too. The biggest concern I have is that we would be dangerously soft at the back with him and Colo playing. He's looked pretty solid at international level so far and had an excellent game against Spain (brutally exposing Llorente's lack of a footballing brain,) so i guess we'll all be able to make a more accurate judgement after the World Cup.

  10. I think Lovenkrands is about as good a striker as you can expect a club like us to have imo.
  11. Japan considering staging an additional friendly with France. Should be worth it just to see who's more shit.
  12. When's the last time we signed someone before June 5th?
  13. Mikel out? I'm sorry, I know this is bang out of order but....
  14. China's new manager has put together a very effective young team. They should be making some waves at least at the Asian level for a few years to come.
  15. http://www.donga.com/photo/news/200906/200906180230.jpg Just wanted to elaborate a bit more on one of my personal legends Du-Ri Cha is a bit of a cult hero over here. He's a complete freak of nature: an Asian with the speed of Martins and the strength of Drogba (runs the 100m in under 11 seconds, has actually tussled shoulder-to-shoulder with Drogba and knocked him over.) Just one thing: he cannot play football. At all. If he had even an ounce of aptitude for the game he probably would have been the greatest striker to ever wear a Korea shirt, instead he got shunted out to fullback midway through his career because his club manager realized that was the position where he'd be able to use his speed and strength while doing the least damage to the team as a whole. It's a bit mental at South Korea home games. We cheer whenever he picks up the ball, cheer whenever he steamrolls over an entire flank and runs through onto goal, and cheer even louder when he inevitably f***s it up in the most comical fashion imaginable. Absolute legend (and he'll be marking Messi by the way) Would love it for us to sign him
  16. At least you're English. We've been treated to in-depth "will he/won't he make it" coverage of Lee Dong-Gook for three weeks since he strained his calf.
  17. I've just noticed that very few of our players have girlfriends at all, never mind fit ones.
  18. Cases like Drogba and Ballack are just really tragic. Best player in your squad, national hero, last World Cup... Then some fake-Japanese cunt comes and along and fractures your shoulder with a knee-kick. If I was Ivorian I would be baying for blood.
  19. Tulio making friends everywhere I see.
  20. Just pop it back in and load him with drugs Okay so I spoke too soon and apparently they put it back in so he's "okay." Still nerve-racking though.
  21. Chu-Young Park most likely out of the finals with a dislocated shoulder There goes our tournament.
  22. You might want to get acquainted with our right back this year. His name's Oh bum-suk
  23. He has all of his father's physical attributes. I'll be charitable and stop the conversation there.
  24. He'd look uncomfortable anywhere on the pitch man He's barely a footballer. We just play him because he's faster than Oba and stronger than Drogba. That and the amusement value.
  25. Okay that was less bad than I expected. They were always going to rip us to little bits once Xavi/Xabi/Villa came on and our defense looked fairly confident the whole time. Hopefully we'll be able to put a bit more "attack" in "counter-attack" at the finals with Jisung in the team. Fucking hell though, could one of those "Spain B" players not have been born South Korean? I think I'd kill to have any of that 2nd XI in our squad. Well, maybe not Capadevilla. Our left back is better
