I can live happily without trawling through three year old news segments, if they're even available, on TV2s streaming service. Ange was a cunt and I highly dislike Ange for being a cunt, I'm not a B/G supporter, I'm an NUFC supporter – even though I enjoy a Norwegian team doing well in Europe due to being a Norwegian myself. I can also live with some people on here believing my personal reason for disliking Ange, for some reason, is made up – even though it does nothing for me doing so. 

I dislike Ange to the degree I'd much rather see Man Utd win the EL than Spurs, but that's my personal subjective opinion of one person based on my own experiences in life. I've said where I saw it, if it's a big deal to you, you now know where to go look. Not sure what you finding it or not will change, as I will still dislike Ange just as much regardless because I lived through that time period and saw it on the news and took personal offense from it to a degree it's present in me in the present  

Anyone else noticed that Burton Albion in League One started the season looking certain for relegation after only picking up 8 points in their first 16 fixtures, but then switching gears and finishing with the 11th highest point total for the last 30 matches of the season? What happened there after the first 16?  They escaped relegation by one single point at the end of it all:

It was an answer to a reporter from Norwegian TV2 before the return fixture between Celtic and B/G in 2022, came as an answer when asked if he felt the differences in club sizes meant Celtic's defeat at home in the first leg was "embarrassing" for the club and if Celtic stood a chance to overturn the two goal deficit away from home. 

Given the fact the Spurs vs. B/G match-up is a semi-final and the Celtic match-up was three years ago, and a Round of 32 match-up, it'll not be easy to sift through the recent stories when searching. He's been nothing but complimentary as far as I can tell this time around, but this time around he wasn't in charge of the first "big" club to get knocked out by the club like he was back in '22 either.

I like how you think the 3-2 match where you had to fight back from 1-2 down against Bodø/Glimt at the "mighty" Old Trafford is something to brag about  Spurs just bettered your result against B/G by 50%. Three of their best players out with suspension, will be full strength next week at home. Didn't think they'd advance if they went home 3 goals behind, fully believe they'll advance now that they managed to keep it to 2. Ran over every team at home so far in the knock-outs.

Said before the match it'd be a 3-1 loss for B/G away and then a 2-0 win at home, so far it's looking like I'm at least 50% correct. 2 goals is too small a lead to take to Aspmyra, Spurs fucked themselves when they conceded.

It's likely a callback to when Postecoglu managed Celtic and made a lot of disparaging comments about B/ where he essentially called them a nothing club full of semi-pros living in wooden huts, more interested in fishing than football – whilst Celtic was a massive historic club and would make short process of a team llke B/G.

Already put 50 on it the same day Spurs lucked themselves through the QF's. Couldn't have asked for an easier opponent in the Semis, honestly believed Lazio would be a size or two too large for B/G to overcome – but they did, and Lazio is ten times the team Spurs is. I was being hyperbolic about you guys, given the club's experience in Europe I'd imagine you'd beat B/G in the final as well. Fully believe Bilbao is the strongest team left in it though and Spurs the weakest. B/G third, but not that much behind Man Utd under Amorim given how he refuses to do anything else tactically than his one go-to set-up.

Qarabag were infinitely better than Man Utd, there's a bunch of teams that were in the EL this season that should've easily dispatched B/G in a knock-out match-up. Spurs and Man Utd aren't among those, because they've been absolute shit all season and just because they're English doesn't mean them being horrible all season will suddenly change. Bilbao will bum Man Utd so hard they'll not be able to walk for the rest of the season. Spurs'll most likely get a win at home, but not by more than 2. Only two teams have bettered B/G by more than 2 in the last five seasons of European football, like fuck will Spurs be the third. 

Bilbao though? They'd be capable of doing that, which doesn't bode well for Man Utd.

For all the hatred of US owners, I struggle to think of a lot of better run clubs in the English league system than Wrexham. I'm excited to see how they'll adjust to the Championship.

The only team remotely close to Bodøs home vs away ratio is Athletic, and their ratio can't be taken seriously as the sample size is too small. It's not like their home form would be 3 points per game if they had played the same amount of games as Bodø Glimt.

TH: 1.90 – 85.71% better PPG at home.
MU: 1.76 – 24.84% better PPG at home.

B/G: 1.71 – 152.58% better PPG at home.

They’ve won 8 away European matches from 20/21 according to those figures. The teams they beat were Valur, Celtic, Bohemians 1905, Pyunik, Besitkas, RFS, Jagiellonia Bialystok and Braga, Couple of good teams, three teams I have never heard of. In that span at home they’ve scored 5 goals three times, 6 goals twice (including against Roma) and 8 goals once. The three knockout rounds they just played involved beating Twente 5-2, Olympiakos 3-0 and Lazio 2-0 at home, while losing every one of the away legs.

 

They’re really good and brilliantly run and managed, but home matches on Astro in the Arctic Circle are clearly a massive help.

Spurs in the same period:

16-4-1 –– PPG 2.47

8-4-9 –– PPG 1.33

Man Utd in the same period:

15-6-5 –– PPG 1.96
11-8-7 –– PPG 1.57

Athletic Bilbao in the same period:

6-0-0 –– PPG 3.00
2-2-2 –– PPG 1.33

My point was never that they've not performed worse away from home than they do at home, but out of the 4 EL semi-finalists, they've got the 3rd worst average home record (behind Spurs and Bilbao, ahead of Man Utd). It feels like the general opinion is "don't get trashed in Bodø and you'll beat them at home", which isn't the truth at all. On the whole, they've got more Win/Draws away from home than they do defeats (19 – 17), and even then, very few defeats are by more than a single goal and almost none are by more than two. Just feel like everybody's trying their best to write them off as a football team that's not really good enough to be where they're currently at, and that they're only there because of some magical fluke arctic circle weather shenanigans and astroturf black magic whimsy
