  1. There was always too much money to be made for this to go away, and I’ve always been convinced that Chelsea’s valuation was based on them being a future ESL member. I’m not necessarily opposed to a European super league, but it has to be meritocratic, which I expect defeats the objective for the clubs pushing it. They want a closed NFL style gravy train. If we joined such a league, I’m not sure I could watch it.

Their careers are longer than that though?

you can’t just pick stats out a hat to suit your agenda

I picked the stats most suitable to comparing them. The Portuguese league is notorious for high scoring strikers that are pretty mediocre when they move to better leagues.

He's obviously a more talented footballer than Nunez though, and he has a better scoring record. Nunez has his plus points but on a technical level he often looks like Andy Carroll. He was way ahead of Watkins in the guardians list as well. Madness IMO.

What a terrible signing he's been.

Disgraceful player tbh. He’ll go to a retirement league and underwhelm there as well.

I'm also amazed at how many fans of big clubs that compare our spending to theirs and act like an equal net spending from a formely 19th placed Newcastle should give the same results as an already established top club who spends the same. Nottingham spent the same as us last season, but Cooper was still getting praise for a 14th place finish.

Wage bills never get mentioned in these net spend debates either, as if the only spending players is through transfer fees.
