  1. I think it's pretty clear that he'll be backed, I personally see this as the most sensible thing to do in these circumstance, unlike Allardyce he needs to be able to implement his style on the club and the best way to do this would be to sign the players he wants. It would be extremely difficult for him to try and enforce his style on players which arent his signings and so arent moulded to hs fashoin.

From what i read, Allardyce was unwilling to change his style and with this transfer window in full flow was looking for signings which would reinforce his style which isnt the route that Ashley and Co wanted to go.

If Redknapp comes in and is backed when it is imperative for him to be backed then i will be fully behind his appointment.

    u-turn of the decade

Thought you'd say that, but the subtlty to waht im saying is that it wouldnt be practical and sensible to to leave Redknapp in this window with no finanace to make his own signings and work with them. I still dont think that Allardyce should of got too much backing because he didnt get anyhting out of anyof his signings from the summer.

Redknapp or any other manager need to be able to manage a squad which they can call there own the only way to do this is to have there own signings at the club.

So not quite a u-turn, just a sensible analysis of the current situation.

  3. I think its a pretty safe bet that this isnt bullshit now   :undecided:

Can anyone think of a world class manager who plays attacking football? Someones who potentially available?

I say this because i cant help but think that the attacking football aspect is the key bit that Mort and Ashley are running with. Alot of managers  have used this "football played in a certain way" line to describe what the Geordies are after.

Can anyone actually think of a manager readily available and viable who would come in a produce attackig football as standard?

  4. Fucking hell, im completely in an out here, one second im really positive thinkin that the good times might be back and with a massive warchest we could finally be rising out the ashes, the next minute im thinking "then what?" as in, fine its unfair to say that with a decent war chest and a good football style we might get back into Europe, but (a) would we do it consitently and (b) is Redknapp actually the man to take us further.

Add to the fact all this supposed malarky about private jets and £5m per year crap and im truly flabbergasted.

I hate to say it but at the mo it looks like Freddy Shepherd never left.

  5. Ok if its, Redkanpp im fully behind him, i actually think that he could have a Keegan-esque effect on us, i think that after seeing some truly horrendous football the past 6 months, that seeing a team play with passion and attacking flair could really lift the crowd and help us get behind the team once again. He might not be the most inspiring candidate but if he does his job and gets us playing football again then i truly think we could see the 12th singin proud again.

When Roeder took over  the same thing happened we played good football and were hugely relieved that the dire was gone, it even made us think that Roeder could of been a suitable candidate. The only difference is that Redknapp is proven to be pretty consistent whereas we deep down knew Roeder was dogshit all along.

Aww come on, is what im saying not viable in your eyes then? That either Olivers story is complete codshit or that Hughes/Redknapp are the ones that "would blow his socks off"

    LAST GO!!!

Because Chris Mort will not be making this appointment, so what makes him happy or blows his socks is irrelevant really. When it comes to footballing matters I belive Mike Ashley is more influenced by his long term pal Paul Kemsley, who has also said more about Sam being mutually dumped than Sam or the club. As some people will know (hopefully the spurs fans will back me up) Kemsley when he was Vice Chairman at Spurs wanted Harry at Spurs for a long time but could not convince Levy to make this appointment. This is also why anyone betting on Jol is a idiot because Kemsley  wanted Jol out of Spurs with a passion.

When Bill Kenwright wanted to confirm that Moyes was not a Newcastle target he spoke to Mike Ashley & not Chris Mort & Mike confirmed that Moyes would not be approached. When it comes to the big moves it Ashley that is in charge & running the gig.

To summarise: Somebody being touted to Mort may well blow his socks off but that may not be the person who Ashley wants.

Fair enough, i understnd what you're syaing but i think i disagree with it to be honest, i just cant see Morts opinion being irrelevant, the only viable thing that springs to mind, is that Ashley has been a long admirer of Redknapp never thought it was possible to get him but then Redknapp offered his service which Mort never thought was ever gonna be possilbe, hence "blowing his socks off" and the rest is history. Still dont understand why he would have Ashley or Morts number in the first place though!

As for the Bill kenright thing, i think that was coincidence becuae Ashley was sat next to Phil Green, with whom Bill was talking to. It sounded like an off the cuff conversation to me. Hardly formal.

  7. I ain't that fussed I have always liked the teams he has put out, even that Southampton team that went down with Phillips,Crouch & Camara (?) upfront played well.

I have always been in the camp who ever comes in I will support & have done this.  Even If we got Peter Reid I would support him once he got the job.

I feel this way too. I'll support him, i think he could be a Keegan clone for us to be honest, his football will dfinitely win over the fans.

  9. Im not being funny but you'd have to have a pretty limited knowledge of football to have your "socks blown off" by the likes of Hughes and Redknapp offering there serives to us,team which are witin 8 points of us.

I must have  missed something. Has it been confirmed that the "SOCKS BLOWN OFF" person was either Hughes or Redknapp.

No but the same person who made the "socks blown off claim" follows up the story with a "Its 50/50 between Hughes and Redknapp"

    1+1=3/quote]

Not quite. Whoever was getting banded about by an agent earlier on the week, to who the club may be after can be completely different things & news storiers.

Please note unlike NE5 I have not got the will power, time  or can be arsed to explain this over 25+ posts & then deal with the 75 or so sub topics that will be generated. If you cant digest it, ignore it

I dont understand, it doesnt quite make sense. Are you saying that things may of changed since oliver was rung and the said manager may not be an option now?

    You dont say.

I am saying who ever was getting touted around earlier on may be completely different to who the club are after which from reading the Chron today it was getting put across that Hughes was a club target. In todays article about Hughes being 50/50 did Oliver refer to the "BLOW YOUR SOCKS OFF" story?

But if "Mort had his socks off" by this touted manager why would he be looking at other targets? Surely if he was that impressed by this said manager he'd be pursuing him and him only?

There you go, carry on from here

    Ok!

Someone with limited football knowledge could get their socks blown off by Redknapp or Hughes.

I dont think someone who has been continuosly involved with football 14 hours a day for the past 7 months running one of th biggest clubs in england canbe described as someone with limited football knowledge. I also dont think someone like Harry redknapp or Hughes, managers of clubs who are within 8 points of us in the league are names which would "blow the chairmens socks off" think about it.

  15. I'm pretty sure Keegan is on Tyneside. I have my suspicions it's for reasons different to those put forward so far...

    *intrigue*

Maybe to advise the board on what type of manager the fans'll want?

    FWIW, that's my guess.

If theres any inkling of this being true theni wouldnt mind seeing SBR having an input as well!

  16. Kenwright: Moyes denial

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright has rubbished rumours linking David Moyes with the vacant manager's job at Newcastle.

Kenwright has spoken to Magpies owner Mike Ashley and the St James' Park supremo has assured him he has no plans to make a move for Moyes.

"How did David Moyes get linked with this job?

"I have started getting emails and texts and phone calls about this very thing and I wonder where it has all come from," Kenwright told Sky Sports News.

"He said: 'Listen Bill even if David was the greatest manager in the world - and I know you think he is - there's no way on God's earth we would ever do that kind of thing to Everton'.

"He [Ashley] is my friend and we are close.

"There is no truth in it whatsoever, not even a word of truth so you can put that one to bed."

Not quite NE5, not quite. See what you wanna see. I havent got too much time for your constant sniping to be honest. It's getting a tad boring.

Then don't retaliate. It takes two to tango.

What, you think im gonna sit here and let him say what he wants about me? Like i said its getting boring, i'm willing to leave it at that.

  18. Oh dear.

All United would hint at today was that they are looking for an experienced manager who is with a club, and that rules out the likes of Martin Jol, Jose Mourinho, Marcello Lippi and Ottmar Hitzfeld

Must be dreaming that he's manager of Bayern then.

    Swiss National side?

  19. Is there any reliable source indicating that it's going to be another British manager?

    If indeed so,

    Qualification:

    1. British Manager -

    2. Experienced -

    3. Successful-

    4. Attack-minded -

Honestly, none comes to my mind...

Mmmm... BUT C'mon, why a British manager again? Patriotic?

I wish someone can/would explain to me why a British manager again...

    Regards

    Ericz

I keep hearing this bollocls about newcastle fans needing to be understood, we need to get someone who understand the area etc bollocks, maybe that is why we're after british.

Redkanpp would fit 3 of the 4 of your criteria, Keegan as well. Who knows? I just wish something substantial would come out. I dont think i can handle a solid week of speculation

    yours sincerely

    Fredbob

  20. Redknapp is a bit of aflavour of the month himself, it wasnt long ago that england were after an english manager, i cant remember his name being anywhere near the hat. His stock has basically grown in the past 18 months.

To be honest, if he could replicate the type of football he is playing with Portsmouth over here with a bigger budget then i could support him.

  21. You dont hink there styles of football are similar but until recently Harry didnt have anywhere near the saem backing Keegan had, both have an all out attack sort of mentality.

I dont know, i know that Harry isnt the best candidate out there, he wouldnt be my choice inthe slightest, but i think he could be capable of bringing some much needed good time at nufc.

There arent that many attacking minded managers out there who would inspire me, all the better ones seem defensive minded to me.
